Leapsome Surveys
Leapsome Surveys suits a buyer who wants surveys, reviews and goals in one system. It costs 4 euros per employee per month, and the HR platform beneath it is always part of the plan. The licence count cannot fall during the term. Answers are anonymous by default. An admin can still switch on an export that ignores the smallest group shown.
Leapsome Surveys comes with an HR platform that is always in the plan
Leapsome Surveys runs engagement, onboarding, project and pulse surveys inside Leapsome’s wider HR platform.
You want surveys, reviews and goals in one system. You want anonymous answers by default, with action plans that stay open until an owner marks them done.
You want a survey tool with no wider platform attached. You need every export to respect the smallest group shown. You cannot accept a licence count that stays fixed during the term.
Engagement Surveys costs 4 euros per employee per month. The HR platform is always part of the plan and has its own price. Discounts depend on the products and the number of employees.
How a Leapsome survey runs, from the questions to the action plan
Here is how a Leapsome survey runs, from the first question to the follow-up. Leapsome Surveys runs engagement, onboarding, project and pulse surveys that recur automatically. Admins pick how often a survey repeats, from weekly to yearly, or run it once. Each repeat reports the change since the last round. Onboarding and exit surveys stay open for 28 days for each employee.
You write your own questions or start from Leapsome’s. Custom questions can be open text, multiple choice or scaled statements. Scaled ones run on a 0 to 10 or 0 to 5 scale. Leapsome also offers best-practice questionnaires and a mix-and-match library of best-practice questions. Best-practice questions cannot be edited. Smart sampling gives each person a random set of questions each round, plus any you pin. An admin can mark a scaled question as an eNPS question. eNPS asks whether staff would recommend you as a place to work.
Your own questions get a benchmark only if you link them to a best-practice question. Industry benchmarks exist for best-practice topics. Only responses from the last 12 months count. Leapsome tries to include companies similar to your own. It falls back to a representative set of its customers. A 5-point scale has no benchmark or NPS.
By default only survey owners see the answers. Owners can share results with other parts of the company. The heatmap can be split by the manager score from the latest performance review, in bands of 20%. Impact Drivers point to the survey areas that correlate most with engagement. An admin enables them in settings.
Leapsome adds AI to surveys in several places. The Survey Wizard builds and edits survey questions through a chat in the survey editor. The comment summary groups comments into recurring themes, positive feedback, constructive feedback and a conclusion. It works only once the survey round is closed. Sentiment analysis, run on Amazon’s AWS Comprehend, sorts text answers by the emotion behind them. AI-enabled action plans turn results into prioritised next steps. Leapy is a chat copilot that respects each user’s access rights.
Your team then runs the follow-up. Action plans have owners and stay on the platform until the owner marks them completed. The action plans view tracks created, in-progress and completed plans. The platform prioritises best-practice recommendations for the areas with the highest impact on engagement.
Our guide to employee engagement software covers how the rest of this market handles surveys.
Anonymous by default, and staff can answer outside email
Anonymous by default
Surveys run anonymously by default, so staff answer without a name attached. The smallest group shown starts at 3. An anonymous survey cannot start with fewer than 5 participants. Leapsome raises the smallest group when more than one demographic filter is applied. Survey admins cannot see who gave which answer.
Staff can answer outside email
Employees can answer inside Slack if the admin enables it. Admins can send survey notifications by SMS to users with a phone number and no email address. Kiosk mode lets employees without email sign in with a username and one-time password, as in a production facility.
Earlier results can be imported
Admins can import historical survey data from any previous vendor. Imported data appears only on the Overview and List views. Admins and survey owners can export the overview to PowerPoint and other views to Excel.
Certified, and stored in Germany
Every Leapsome plan comes with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification. Leapsome includes GDPR and EU AI Act compliance. Primary data is stored in Germany, inside the EEA.
The raw export, AI defaults and work-tool signals are where it stops
These cards cover who can see what, and what Leapsome does with AI. Each ends on a decision to make before you sign.
Raw export bypasses the smallest group
An admin must enable it before the first round. Once it is on, the export reveals respondent demographics per question, and the smallest group does not protect it. Participants are told the data can be exported. When data is exported, Leapsome applies the smallest group only at survey level. Under Leapsome’s data processing agreement, technical restrictions stop the customer reaching individual-level data in anonymous surveys by default. Under the same agreement, an instruction to bulk-export or de-anonymise such data is outside the agreed scope. Decide before launch whether the export stays off.
Choose the smallest group before launch
The smallest group cannot be changed once the survey is active or after it. Leapsome recommends a lower setting where an organisation is split into very small groups. Comments appear only once the threshold is reached.
Survey owners see every result
Survey owners and the top admin level can always see all results. They can change who else sees them. Once the threshold is met, the commenter’s team name is visible to the admin and survey owner. Owners can start an anonymous conversation with a comment author, and the owner’s name is visible to the author. Custom rules can let managers and team leads read comments. Choose survey owners with that reach in mind.
AI is on by default
AI features are optional but enabled by default for new customers. An admin can switch them off in settings or by role. Leapsome reports that customer data is never used to train AI models. Its AI Terms add that Leapsome will not use customer AI content to train its models without express permission. They also let it use feedback, such as a thumbs up or down, to improve its models. That applies if the data reveals nothing personally identifiable. Settle these switches before the first survey, and tell staff when they see AI-generated content.
Some AI data leaves Germany
Leapsome hosts and processes platform data in Germany. A few AI features use a provider that processes data outside the EU. Leapsome uses OpenAI for smart features, with US processing. It also uses Amazon Web Services EMEA, through AWS Bedrock and SageMaker AI. The AI provider keeps a prompt for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and quality checks, then deletes it.
AI drafts need a person reading them
AI-generated content should be reviewed and edited as needed. Survey comment summaries are drafts, and a person decides what they mean. Leapy can misunderstand questions or make things up. Under the AI Terms, outputs may contain inaccuracies and must not be relied on without independent evaluation. Under Leapsome’s terms, the customer may not use Leapsome AI for automated employment-related decisions without meaningful human review. The review must come with independent decision-making.
Resilience Signals reads work-tool activity
Resilience Signals is a Leapsome feature that finds patterns in survey, HR and work-tool data. It is available for customers who use Leapsome as their HR system. Leapsome’s survey page puts the patterns at team level. Its data processing agreement puts them at team and/or employee level. For Slack, the input is how often, when and in which direction people message, not what they write. Sickness absence can reveal health information. Where absence data is an input, the agreement counts that as special-category data, the sensitive kind under data law. The patterns come from fixed rules, without machine learning, scoring or prediction. Signals go to users the customer authorises, in dashboards and through the AI assistant. Decide who is authorised, and which inputs to connect.
Admins see expected turnover by team
The turnover score comes from engagement factors such as survey trends. The estimate is sorted by team, so the customer can address the teams with the highest expected turnover. Users with admin rights can see the dashboard. The prediction uses anonymised data. Users can also ask the AI agents in plain language where attrition risk is building.
Outside AI tools can read results
Leapsome offers an MCP server, a standard link between AI assistants and its data. It can read survey results and comments visible to the user. Leapsome enforces anonymity protections on the server side. The setting is labelled Beta, and write access is off by default. Decide who in your company may connect an AI tool.
It suits buyers who want surveys, reviews and goals together
Customer stories show which buyers get value from Leapsome Surveys. More than 2,000 companies use Leapsome. Leapsome raised a Series A in March 2022, led by Insight Partners.
You want surveys and reviews together
Swapfiets uses Leapsome for engagement and performance processes across 1,300 employees. The survey heatmap can be split by 20% bands of the manager score from the latest performance review.
You want results to lead to action
Eurowings Digital reports that initiatives from its survey results decreased turnover by 12.2%. It also reports survey participation of 82%. Its eNPS question score average rose from 7.9 to 8.5.
A score to move
TicketSwap reports a professional growth score of 6.4 out of 10 at the start of 2024. It reached its goal of 7. Cleveland Guardians reports over 90% survey participation.
Four euros per employee per month, and a platform beneath it
Three questions decide the cost. What will you pay? What does the contract tie you to? What can you take with you?
What you pay. Leapsome prices Engagement Surveys at 4 euros per employee per month. That price covers a question library, post-survey action plans and industry benchmarks. It also covers turnover analysis, diversity, equity and inclusion analytics, and onboarding and offboarding surveys.
The HR platform is always part of the plan, because every Leapsome product reads from the employee record. Leapsome prices the HR platform, called Agentic HRIS Foundation, at 7 euros per employee per month. It is free if bought by 31 December. After that date it is charged at the list price. The price calculator on the same page gives the Foundation level as 5 euros. The Pro level costs 10 euros per employee per month and adds advanced AI agents. Leapsome also offers an Agentic HR Accelerator Program at a one-time fee of 24,000 euros. It is included at no cost when the customer signs by 31 December.
Leapsome sells further products per employee per month in the same way. They include Performance Reviews, Goals and OKRs, Learning, Compensation and Recruiting. Under its terms, extra products or features the customer activates are billed at the then-current standard list price. An order form can agree otherwise. Discounts depend on the products and the number of employees. The price estimator gives list prices only. There is no setup fee. Implementation usually takes 1 to 4 weeks.
One public contract gives a sense of scale. Romande Energie in Switzerland awarded Leapsome a licence contract worth 365,040 euros in total, for about 1,300 users. The minimum term is two years, 2027 to 2028. It is renewable yearly to a maximum of five years.
What you are tied to. Under Leapsome’s terms, the initial term renews automatically for 12-month terms, or one month for monthly contracts. Ending a contract needs two months’ notice to the end of a term. Fees are non-refundable. A customer who ends the subscription early remains liable for all fees through the end of the current term.
The number of licences cannot be decreased during the term. The North America terms allow a decrease if the parties agree. Users added, for example through an HR system connection, are billed and become part of the minimum licences. Leapsome may raise the per-user fee by up to 5% at renewal with 90 days’ notice. Discounts granted do not automatically apply to the next renewal term.
Leapsome publishes two sets of terms, and which one governs you changes the law and the promise on uptime. The main terms are governed by German law, and disputes go to the courts of Berlin. Unless a separate service level agreement is signed, they set availability at 99.5% on average over 365 days. The North America terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any claim under them is resolved by binding arbitration. They promise commercially reasonable efforts for 99.5% availability.
What you take with you. Taking your data out has a deadline. Within 30 days of termination, the customer may download user data as CSV or similar files. After termination, the data is retained inactive as long as legally required, then permanently deleted. Under the data processing agreement, the customer chooses what happens to personal data. Leapsome either deletes all personal data and certifies it, or returns it and deletes the copies.
You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Eight questions to put to Leapsome before you sign
- Which price applies to the HR platform in our order, and until when? Good answer: A written price for the platform, with an end date.
- Is the raw-data export switched off for our account, and who can switch it on? Good answer: Off, with named admins who can change it.
- Which smallest group shown do you recommend for our team sizes, before the first round? Good answer: A number agreed in writing before launch, since it cannot change later.
- Which AI features are on at the start, and which send data outside Germany? Good answer: A written list with a named provider and country for each.
- If we use Leapsome as our HR system, is Resilience Signals on? Does it read Slack activity or absence data for individuals? Good answer: Off until we choose, with every input named.
- Which terms apply to us, the main terms or the North America terms? Good answer: One set, named in the order form.
- Will users added through our HR system connection raise the minimum licence count? Good answer: A rule on added users, written into the order form.
- How do our results leave when the contract ends, and in what window? Good answer: A named file format and a time window, written into the contract.
Alternatives to Leapsome, including buying nothing
Betterworks, WorkBuzz and Hive each fit a buyer for whom one Leapsome term matters most. Buying nothing is a fourth route.
If you want surveys without an HR platform beneath them, Betterworks sells Engagement as a stand-alone. Leapsome Surveys is bought with an HR platform that is always part of the plan. The trade at Betterworks is implementation, a one-time cost on top of per user per month pricing. Leapsome charges no setup fee. Betterworks prices by quote.
If an uptime promise matters most, compare the wording. Under Leapsome’s main terms, availability is 99.5% on average over 365 days, unless a separate service level agreement is signed. Its North America terms promise commercially reasonable efforts for 99.5%. WorkBuzz commits to 99.9% platform uptime, excluding planned maintenance, in its UK government G-Cloud listing. Ask both vendors which promise applies to your order.
If you run surveys in several languages, the work differs. Custom questions in Leapsome do not adapt to the user’s language, and the customer can add translations. Hive’s survey builder can machine-translate surveys through Google Translate. Further language translation costs extra at Hive. WorkBuzz announced on 13 October 2026 that it has acquired Hive.
Buying nothing keeps your licence count in your hands. You owe no fees through the end of a term, and no notice date waits for you. You give up two things that Leapsome joins up. One is results split by the manager score from the latest performance review. The other is turnover analysis by team. If your HR system already includes a survey, our guide for HR system owners covers that route.
