Employee engagement software for companies of 200 to 2,000 people

There is no single mid-market. Vendors aim at points from about 100 to 1,000 employees and up. Check that your headcount sits inside a product’s range. At this size the products differ on action plans, comment analysis and which plan includes them. Contracts often renew on their own, and prices often rise at renewal. Settle the notice date, the price cap and your export rights before you sign.

What changes

Vendors aim at points from about 100 to 1,000 employees and up. Some products suit the lower end, some the upper end, and the plan you buy decides which features you get.

What stays the same

Auto-renewal, price rises at renewal and export deadlines appear in the terms of vendors across the range.

Price per person

Lattice · 15Five · Leapsome · PerformYard · Viva Glint

Yearly minimum or starting price

Quantum Workplace · Workleap (up to 250 employees) · Hive (UK government list)

By quote

Culture Amp · Eletive · WorkBuzz · Winningtemp. Nectar prices per employee per month, and the price depends on team size and products.

Watch

Prices may rise at renewal. Nectar’s price rises 6% each period unless waived. Lattice may add up to 5% above list price. PerformYard may add 20% or more.

What the products do for a company of 200 to 2,000 people

A survey only helps if the results reach people who can act on them. Five features decide that. They are action plans, comment analysis, comparison with other employers, ways to reach everyone and the smallest group shown. Several of them sit in higher plans, so check the plan as well as the product.

Action plans for managers

Action plans turn a score into a task with an owner. Products differ on who builds the plan and which plan includes it.

Lattice managers create action plans after a survey and receive suggested actions grouped by theme. 15Five action plans hold goals, actions, owners and progress tracking. A manager or admin must create each one. Two of 15Five’s help articles put action plans in Engage and Total Platform. Two others put them in Total Platform only. Ask which package you need. Eletive includes action plans in Standard and Professional, not Essential. WorkBuzz’s ACT tool generates a prioritised action plan for every manager as a survey closes. The manager decides what to do with it. If your managers will not build plans themselves, look at the products that draft one for them.

Analysis of written comments

Written comments explain the scores, and reading hundreds of them by hand takes time. Products now offer AI summaries. Ask which plan includes them.

Lattice summarises all open comments into two to seven trends, each with a summary and a recommendation. An admin must switch Lattice AI on first. 15Five generates themes and sentiment from open-text responses. Eletive’s Professional plan is the only one with Comments AI. WorkBuzz adds People Science AI, which analyses comments, to its Engage+ plan. If you expect hundreds of comments, ask which plan includes the summary before you compare prices.

Comparison with other employers

A score of 72 means little until you can compare it. Benchmarks give you that comparison, and their source and size differ.

15Five benchmarks by industry, company size or region once at least 10 companies sit in a category. Lattice compares you with other Lattice customers and with Mercer’s global data set. Eletive’s standard benchmarks compare you with all its users. Its advanced benchmarks add cuts such as industry and country, and come with the Standard and Professional plans. Quantum Workplace sells Benchmarks+ as an additional feature. Ask whether the comparison group matches your industry and country.

Reaching employees without a work email

Some employees have no work email, so an email invite misses them. Products reach them in different ways.

Eletive’s kiosk mode lets employees without email answer on a shared device with a code. Hive sends invites by email or SMS and reaches frontline workers with no app to download. On the G-Cloud 15 list, Hive charges £0.12 per SMS prompt. WorkBuzz lets employees without email use a kiosk code. Its surveys open by QR code, personal link or kiosk, with no login. If part of your workforce has no work email, ask each vendor how it would reach them.

The smallest group shown

Results split by team, so some groups will be small. Products hide a group’s results below a set size to protect anonymity. That size decides which of your teams get a report.

Lattice lets admins set the smallest group from 3 to 10 people. 15Five defaults to 5 respondents and lets admins lower it to 3 or 4. Culture Amp defaults to 5 on most surveys. By default, Viva Glint reports what drives a team’s engagement only once 20 people answer. Smaller teams see the company-wide picture. A team below Hive’s threshold gets no team-level results or suggestions. Check your smallest team against each threshold before you buy.

Where vendors draw the line on company size

There is no single mid-market. A product aimed at companies of 1,000 and up may suit you less at 300. The reverse can also hold. Vendors say where they aim, and their lines fall in different places. Ask each vendor whether your headcount, now and in a year, sits inside its range.

Published prices that work at the low end of the range

At 300 people, whether a vendor publishes a price decides how fast you can compare. Workleap publishes its price only up to 250 employees and sends larger organisations to its sales team. Lattice publishes a price and puts customers such as Weave, at 100 to 1,000 employees, in its mid-market group. 15Five publishes a price and packages for organisations of all sizes. At 300 people you may need a quote from Workleap, while Lattice and 15Five show a price.

Aimed at 500 employees and up

Several vendors aim above 500 people. Below that line, ask what you lose or pay extra for. Eletive is typically used by organisations of 500 to 10,000 employees. WorkBuzz supports mid- to large-sized organisations of 500 or more. Betterworks adds most value above 500 employees. Workday Peakon prices UK government buyers in bands that start at 600 employees.

Vendors that serve both ends of the range

Several vendors have customers well below and well above 1,000 people. Ask each vendor for customers with a similar headcount. Hive has customers of 251 to 500 and 1,000 to 2,000 employees. Perceptyx has customers of 290 to more than 1,300 employees. Nectar centres its mid-market focus on 1,000 employees and serves customers above and below. Leapsome serves a customer of 1,300 employees.

Plans built for 1,000 and up

Some vendors set a tier or plan at 1,000, so check where a smaller company lands. Culture Amp has one service tier under 200 employees and another from 1,000. Winningtemp’s Enterprise plan is for organisations with 1,000 or more. A company between those lines should ask which tier it sits in and what it costs.

Which products to look at, and why

What you pay for depends on what you want beside the survey. Some products bundle reviews and goals, some sell the survey alone, and some sit inside Microsoft or a recognition tool. The table at the end puts size, price and renewal terms side by side.

If you also want reviews and goals

Lattice, 15Five, Leapsome and PerformYard sell surveys beside reviews and goals. That helps if one product should cover both. It also means the survey price sits inside a bundle, so compare the same parts.

Lattice’s Engagement plan includes pulse, onboarding and exit surveys, action planning and AI analysis. 15Five’s Engage package includes engagement surveys, industry benchmarking and lifecycle surveys. Those go out when an employee reaches a set stage. Surveys come with Engage and Total Platform, not with Perform. Leapsome always includes its HR platform in the plan. PerformYard includes engagement surveys in its Performance plan.

Moving from another vendor? Leapsome admins can import survey history from a previous vendor. Imported data appears only on the Overview and List views.

If the survey is the main job

Quantum Workplace, Workleap, Culture Amp, Eletive, WorkBuzz, Hive and Winningtemp sell engagement surveys as a product of their own. Here the plan level you pick sets the features you get.

Eletive’s Professional plan adds Attrition Risk. It estimates the share of a group at high, medium or low risk of leaving. WorkBuzz sells Engage and Engage+. Engage+ adds the comment analysis above and, coming soon, a link to an HR system that needs no developer. Workleap’s Standard plan includes engagement reports and AI analyses, summaries and chat. With Workleap AI on, executives and team managers can run AI summaries, insights and suggested actions on feedback and scores. So price the plan that has the feature you need, not the entry plan.

Hive offers low-cost pilots, so you can test it before a full contract. Not-for-profits get 25% off.

Hive and WorkBuzz are now one company. WorkBuzz acquired Hive on 13 October 2026. Service continues unchanged for now, and Hive will announce changes in advance. WorkBuzz AI analysis, People Science and frontline reach will become available over time. Ask which terms and price list apply to you after the deal.

If you use Microsoft, or want recognition too

Viva Glint needs a licence for one of a set of named Microsoft 365 or Office 365 plans. A Viva Glint or Viva suite licence is required to create, edit or respond to Glint surveys. Count how many of your employees would need one.

Nectar sells Nectar Engage together with Nectar Recognize, its recognition product. That suits a team that wants both.

Thirteen products compared on size, price and renewal
Product Who it is aimed at Price before a sales call At renewal
Workleap Published price up to 250 employees. Larger organisations go to its sales team. Standard starts at $4,999 a year plus $32 per manager each month, up to 250 employees. Renews itself unless cancelled 30 days before. Seats rise to match use.
Lattice Puts customers such as Weave, at 100 to 1,000 employees, in its mid-market group. $4 per seat a month, with a $4,000 yearly minimum. Renews itself. Fees may rise up to 5% above list price.
15Five Packages for organisations of all sizes. Engage is $4 per user a month, billed yearly. Renews itself. Current pricing applies.
Eletive Typically 500 to 10,000 employees. By quote. Ask for the renewal terms.
WorkBuzz Organisations of 500 or more employees. On request. Under its UK government contract terms, the minimum is £6,000 a year plus VAT. Fees rise each year by the greater of 5% or UK inflation (CPI).
Culture Amp One tier under 200 employees and one from 1,000. By quote. Depends on employee count, product and tier. Renews for 12 months. Needs 90 days’ notice.
Winningtemp Enterprise plan for 1,000 or more employees. By quote form. May adjust prices on renewal under its general terms.
Nectar Centred on 1,000 employees, with customers above and below. Per employee per month. The price depends on team size and products chosen. Renews yearly. The price rises 6% each period unless waived.
Quantum Workplace Built for mid-market or enterprise organisations. Packages start at $15,000 a year. Ask for the renewal terms.
Hive Has customers of 251 to 500 and 1,000 to 2,000 employees. On the UK government price list, £22,605 a year includes 2,000 employees. Renews itself. Fees rise up to inflation (RPI) plus 2% a year.
Leapsome Serves a customer of 1,300 employees. Engagement Surveys are €4 per person a month, on top of its HR platform. Renews itself. The fee may rise up to 5%.
Viva Glint Companies on a named Microsoft 365 or Office 365 plan, with a 50-seat licence minimum. $2 per user a month, paid yearly. Annual commitment that renews itself.
PerformYard Ask which customers it has with a similar headcount. The Performance plan, which includes engagement surveys, is $5 to $15 per person a month. Volume pricing applies for larger organisations. Renews for a year unless you give 60 days’ notice. The price may rise up to 20% above the prior price. With a discount, it may rise 20% above list price, whichever is greater.

What a year costs at 200 and at 2,000 people

Published prices let you test any quote against a yearly figure for your own headcount. These sums assume every employee is a paid user and you pay for a full year. Check your headcount now and in a year, because some contracts do not let you cut seats during the term.

Lattice and 15Five charge $4 per user per month for Engagement and Engage. That comes to $9,600 a year for 200 people and $96,000 for 2,000. Viva Glint charges $2 per user per month, paid yearly. That comes to $4,800 and $48,000. PerformYard charges $5 to $15 per person per month for its Performance plan, which includes engagement surveys. That comes to $12,000 to $36,000 at 200 people and $120,000 to $360,000 at 2,000, before any volume pricing.

Leapsome charges €4 per person per month for Engagement Surveys. That comes to €9,600 and €96,000. That price sits on top of its HR platform, which is always part of the plan. The HR platform is free if you buy by 31 December. After that date it is charged at list price. Leapsome’s pricing card puts that list price at €7 per person a month. Its price calculator puts it at €5. Ask which figure applies to you.

Three vendors publish a yearly minimum or starting price. Quantum Workplace packages start at $15,000 a year, with no implementation fee. Professional translations cost an additional fee. Workleap’s Standard plan, for up to 250 employees, starts at $4,999 a year plus $32 per manager each month. Lattice sets a minimum annual agreement of $4,000 that can include different products.

Hive publishes prices on the UK government’s G-Cloud list. On the G-Cloud 15 list, Hive charges £22,605 a year for the Employee Survey Service. That includes 2,000 employees. Each additional employee costs £4.49. That price is for a one-year contract and excludes VAT. Under its UK government contract terms, WorkBuzz sets a minimum annual fee of £6,000 plus VAT.

Culture Amp, Eletive, Winningtemp and WorkBuzz sell by quote. Culture Amp bases its fees on the number of users in a tier. Going over the tier can bring extra fees. Nectar prices per employee per month. Its price depends on team size and the products you choose. Take your headcount now and in a year to every call.

AI features can become a separate charge, and that matters at renewal. 15Five’s Context Layer connects other data sources to 15Five. Its Agents can surface summaries and recurring themes from Microsoft Teams channel conversations. 15Five may introduce fees for both, with at least 45 days’ notice before a renewal term. They may currently come at no charge beyond base fees. If you miss the date to give notice of non-renewal after that notice, you accept the new fees. Eletive gives each customer a free pool of AI use each contract year and sells more. Winningtemp sells AI Conversation, an anonymous AI chat in which employees answer in free text, as an add-on. Its price depends on plan and number of licences. Customers on any plan can try it free for 30 days.

Three contract terms to check before you sign

Engagement results are worth most when you can compare them year to year. These three contract terms decide your seat count, your renewal price and whether you keep your history.

The notice date is your one chance to cut seats

At this size, headcount can change a lot within one contract year. Some contracts only let you cut seats at renewal. Under 15Five’s terms, seats cannot be reduced during the current term. A reduction for a renewal term needs at least 30 days’ notice. Under Leapsome’s terms, licences cannot be decreased during the term. Users added through an HR system connection are billed and become part of the minimum licences. Under PerformYard’s terms, quantities cannot be decreased during the term. A renewal at lower volume is priced afresh, without regard to the prior per-unit price. Workleap seat counts do not fall on their own, so the customer lowers them before renewal. If active seat use exceeds the subscription, Workleap raises the seat count at renewal to match. Winningtemp’s terms let the customer reduce licences, add-ons or plan before each new term. Ask each vendor for the last day you can change your seat count.

Prices rise at renewal by set amounts

Lattice may raise fees at renewal by up to 5% above its list price. Leapsome may raise its per-user fee by up to 5%. Nectar’s price rises 6% each period unless waived. 15Five applies its current pricing at renewal. PerformYard may raise per-unit pricing by up to 20% above the prior term. For a discounted subscription, the limit is 20% above list price if that is higher. Ask for a cap in the order form.

Your results leave on a deadline

Year-on-year history only helps if you can take it with you. Quantum Workplace lets you download your data for 60 days after expiry or termination. Lattice’s help centre puts the end of access at the end of the subscription. It puts the deletion of account data 180 days later. Its terms make a downloadable file available on request or at termination. Under its terms, Lattice keeps content inactive for six months after the subscription ends, then deletes it. Under Nectar’s terms, the client is solely responsible for exporting its data and reports before the agreement ends.

What to ask each vendor before you sign

Use these questions on a first call. Each one asks for a number, a date or a change to the order form. At 200 to 2,000 people the answers set what you pay at renewal and what you keep when you leave.

  1. Lattice: Your terms allow a rise of up to 5% above list price at renewal. Will you fix our renewal price in the order form? Good answer: A named price, or a rise limited to our current price.
  2. Lattice: Your help centre puts the end of access at the end of the subscription. Your terms offer a download file at termination. Which applies to us? Good answer: A written export date and format.
  3. 15Five: Renewals use your current pricing. Will you cap the renewal rise in the order form? Good answer: A cap in writing.
  4. Leapsome: Users added through our HR system count towards the minimum. Can we limit the link to the groups we choose? Good answer: Yes, and the order form records it.
  5. Leapsome: Your pricing card puts the HR platform at €7 per person a month. Your price calculator puts it at €5. Which applies to us after 31 December? Good answer: One written price for the HR platform.
  6. Workleap: If we have more than 250 employees, what Enterprise price will you quote? Can we fix the seat count in the order form? Good answer: A written yearly price and a fixed seat count for the term.
  7. Viva Glint: Which Microsoft 365 licences must we hold for Glint? Who needs one to answer a survey? Good answer: A named list, with what each costs.
  8. Quantum Workplace: Packages start at $15,000. What do Benchmarks+ and professional translations add? Good answer: A price for each extra.
  9. Culture Amp: At what headcount do we move up a tier, and what fee follows? Good answer: Tier limits and extra fees in the order form.
  10. Eletive: What do the AI features cost after the free pool is used up? Good answer: A price for each unit of use.
  11. Hive: Does your G-Cloud price apply to a private employer, and for how many years? Good answer: Yes or no in writing, with the contract length.
  12. Hive: WorkBuzz now owns Hive. Which terms and price list apply to us after the deal? Good answer: Named terms and a price list in writing.
  13. PerformYard: Quantities cannot drop during the term, and a renewal at lower volume is re-priced. Will you hold our per-person price if we renew with fewer people? Good answer: A written renewal price per person.
  14. Nectar: Your price rises 6% each period unless waived. Will you waive it for the first renewal? Good answer: A waiver in the order form.
  15. WorkBuzz: Does the £6,000 minimum fee apply to us, and which per-user band? Good answer: A fee schedule in writing.
  16. Winningtemp: Which plan fits our headcount, and what does one extra licence cost? Good answer: One plan name and a price per licence.

Where to go next

Two other guides cover the sizes and setups outside this mid-market range. If you have 2,000 people or more, read the enterprise guide. If your HR or performance system already runs surveys, read the guide for HR system owners. The comparison sets the products side by side. Our guide to employee engagement software covers the whole market.
