PerformYard
PerformYard suits a buyer who wants survey results beside reviews and goals. Who sees the answers depends on which survey you use. Its own pages differ on what managers see and which plans include AI. The contract fixes your seats for the term, lets PerformYard aggregate anonymised usage data and hosts in the United States. A renewal may cost more.
PerformYard sells its surveys inside a platform for reviews and goals
PerformYard is a performance platform that runs engagement surveys beside reviews, meetings and goals.
You want survey results in the same product as reviews and goals. You can accept fees you cannot cancel, with quantities that cannot be decreased in term.
Your legal team will not accept a right to aggregate anonymised usage data. PerformYard hosts data in the United States and you need it elsewhere. Get any other region in writing first.
The Performance plan costs $5 to $15 per person per month and includes engagement surveys. Pricing is per seat and billed annually.
Pulse surveys are anonymous. Custom surveys can be anonymous or attributed.
PerformYard is a performance platform with engagement surveys built in. Which survey you use decides who can see the answers. The Engagement Survey sends recurring pulse surveys. They are scored on engagement, satisfaction and eNPS. eNPS asks how likely employees are to recommend the company as a place to work. The second product, Surveys, builds custom surveys with multiple choice, rating scale and open-ended questions.
Admins control what goes into a pulse. Automatic selection is the default and assigns questions to participants at random. Manual selection lets admins choose up to 32 questions. Admins also choose whether active or invited employees receive it, and can exclude employees such as executives. The pulse tracks seven factors, which are the topics its questions cover.
A pulse survey is anonymous. No one at the employer can see what an employee personally answered. Comments tied to a name are among the things leaders cannot see. Results can be split by department, location or tenure. Its engagement overview chart plots one anonymous dot per employee.
Surveys handles anonymity differently. Its responses can be anonymous or attributed. A Responses view gives each participant’s answers, and admins can search it by participant. Results download as a Summary CSV or a Participant CSV. Managers and contributors can create surveys and see their own results. Admins see a list of every survey created. A new survey is open to all employees by default, which sets who takes part.
The link to reviews is the point of the platform. PerformYard connects survey results to reviews, goals and reporting. Admins can build reports that contain survey response data and share them view-only. A shared report is filtered to the viewer’s chain of command. PerformYard integrates with HR systems including ADP, BambooHR, Gusto, Rippling, UKG, Workday and Paylocity. SFTP uploads of CSV files cover other HR and payroll systems.
PerformYard AI summarises open-ended answers into sentiment, themes and recommendations. It also compares groups on factors and eNPS. It adds strategies for promoters, detractors and passives. Admin and Billing Admin roles request these summaries. Surveys has its own AI assistant. It reports sentiment, themes, outliers and recommendations, and flags responses that need attention. The models are Claude Sonnet and Haiku, hosted on Amazon Bedrock.
Our employee engagement guide groups the whole field by kind of product.
Small groups stay hidden, AI has an off switch and onboarding has no fee
Five points count in PerformYard’s favour when you weigh privacy, AI, security and rollout.
Three respondents is the smallest group
Results screens hide any group, factor or month with fewer than three unique respondents. The Questions table hides a question sent to fewer than three employees. An article for employees tells them groups below a minimum threshold are not shown.
AI has an off switch
Admins can turn each engagement AI feature off. The Surveys AI assistant can be switched off for the whole organisation. PerformYard puts all AI features off by default for Premium (formerly Enterprise) customers.
Customers report high response rates
Tungco reports an 85% survey response rate. An unnamed New York law firm reports 75%. The Arnold Group reports response rates up to 70% on quarterly engagement surveys. Ask which survey product each figure covers.
SOC 2 Type II examination
PerformYard holds a SOC 2 Type II examination. On request it supplies a summary of its most recent audit report. It acts as processor of its customers’ employee data.
Onboarding and training carry no fee
PerformYard charges no fees for onboarding or training. Every account includes account setup, live training, a dedicated success manager and phone support.
Six points need a written answer before you sign
Several points below need a written answer from PerformYard before you sign. Some come from its own pages describing the same thing in different ways.
Managers: two descriptions
Per its help centre, managers and contributors have no access to the engagement “dashboards” or pulse results. Its product page adds that engagement trends show beside performance data at review time for managers. Ask which one applies to the product you would buy.
AI plan coverage differs
Its site menu and plan cards put AI in every plan. Its help centre gives AI features to Premium licence holders. The Surveys AI needs a Premium account and a Surveys licence. Once a Premium organisation opts in, everyone there has access to the AI features. Ask which plan holds the AI you want and what it costs.
AI data use
Its AI FAQ gives the assurance that customer data is not used to train AI models. It adds that AI processing stays within its infrastructure. Its contract has a separate term. PerformYard may collect and aggregate anonymised usage data and related information from the customer or its users. The purposes include benchmarking, analysis and improving the services. Ask whether survey answers count as that data.
Pulse links arrive by email
Each pulse link goes to the employee’s inbox. The link needs no login. PerformYard adds that employees can finish surveys without a company device or a downloaded app. Ask how a pulse reaches employees who do not use email.
Benchmarks compare your own groups
Each group is compared with an All Employees row for benchmarking. PerformYard calls groups cohorts. It supports internal benchmarking across teams, roles and survey cycles. Ask whether PerformYard can show scores from other employers.
Data sits in the United States
PerformYard hosts its cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Backups replicate to encrypted data centres in the US. It complies with the EU-US, UK extension and Swiss-US Data Privacy Frameworks. Those frameworks cover transfers of personal data to the US. Ask about any other hosting region.
A plan of $5 to $15 per person per month, with fees you cannot cancel
The price depends on a plan, and the contract fixes how many seats you pay for. PerformYard’s Performance plan covers reviews, goals and feedback, plus meetings and engagement surveys. It costs $5 to $15 per person per month.
PerformYard’s own blog posts give other figures. A post of 14 May 2026 puts the price at $5 to $10 per employee per month. That post includes every feature in the price. A post of 15 August 2025 puts engagement at an extra dollar or two per person. PerformYard has an Engagement licence and a Surveys licence. Ask for one written price per person that covers each licence.
The seat count you sign is fixed for the term. Quantities cannot be decreased in term. Fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable. A renewal with lower volume is re-priced without regard to the prior per-unit price. PerformYard sets a minimum number of seats you can buy. Usage above the contracted user limit needs an additional order form or an invoice.
A renewal can cost more than the last term. Subscriptions auto-renew for one year unless 60 days notice is given. PerformYard may increase per-unit pricing at the start of a renewal term. The increase may be up to 20% above the prior term’s pricing. For a promotional, one-time priced or discounted subscription, the renewal price may be 20% above list price, whichever is greater.
Late payment and trials carry a commitment too. If a payment is 30 or more days overdue, PerformYard may suspend the service. It may also make the unpaid fees for the full subscription term immediately due. A product provided on a trial basis converts automatically to a paid subscription when the Trial Period ends. The paid subscription runs for the rest of the subscription term.
Your protection if something goes wrong is limited. Each party’s liability for one incident is capped at the amount the customer paid in the 12 months before it. A customer can end the contract for cause. Then PerformYard refunds prepaid fees for the rest of the term of all Order Forms. Virginia law governs the agreement.
What you can take with you depends on when you ask. During the term, customers export their data with self-service features. PerformYard adds that data can be exported at any time in standard formats. After the term, PerformYard has no obligation to maintain or provide the data. Under its data protection terms, personal data is deleted within 60 days of termination. A customer can ask within 30 days of termination for a copy of its personal data, at its own expense.
You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Nine questions for the demo
Use these questions in a demo. Each has an answer worth getting in writing.
- What can a manager see from the Engagement Survey, and what can a manager see from Surveys? Good answer: A written list by role.
- Can we limit who creates surveys and who can open them? Good answer: Yes, by role, set before launch.
- Which plan includes the AI features, and does it cost extra? Good answer: One named plan and a price in the order form.
- Can our survey answers be left out of the anonymised usage data you aggregate? Good answer: Yes, written into the order form.
- Does PerformYard compare our scores with other employers? Good answer: A named source for any outside comparison.
- What starts an onboarding or exit survey? Can a date in our HR system send it? Good answer: A named trigger and the HR systems it works with.
- Which licences do we need for the Engagement Survey and for Surveys, and what does each cost? Good answer: A price per person per month for each licence.
- What happens to the price if we need fewer seats at renewal? Good answer: The renewal price in writing before we sign.
- Where can our survey data be hosted, and how does it come out when we leave? Good answer: A named region and an export format with a written window.
Alternatives to PerformYard, including buying nothing
If PerformYard stops short, two products are worth a look, and buying nothing is a third route. Quantum Workplace suits staff who cannot answer from an inbox. Workday Peakon suits a buyer who wants an outside comparison. If your HR system vendor sells a survey, our guide for HR system owners covers that route.
PerformYard sends pulse links by email. Quantum Workplace has a kiosk mode that lets employees complete surveys on shared devices without a personal login. An employee on a shared or kiosk computer needs a unique code. Engagement surveys can also be administered by kiosk, phone and paper through the client advisor.
PerformYard compares your own groups with each other. Workday Peakon builds benchmarks by aggregating employees’ scores from different companies. Four of its nine question sets support industry benchmarks. Customers cannot pick specific companies or countries to benchmark against.
Buying nothing avoids a seat count that cannot be cut during the term. It also avoids a renewal at lower volume that is re-priced without regard to the prior per-unit price. You give up survey results tied to reviews, goals and reporting. You also give up AI summaries of open-ended answers.
