Perceptyx

Perceptyx suits employers that want a vendor to run the survey and push managers to act. Onboarding takes about six weeks, and a guided or managed survey takes about eight weeks or more after that. Switching on generative AI sends comments to outside AI companies, and switching it off does not lower the fee. The price sits in an order form that may rise at renewal.

Perceptyx runs the survey with you, and your package sets the rest

In one line

Perceptyx runs surveys for you and prompts managers to act. Your package sets what you get.

Buy it if

You want a vendor that can design and run the survey for you. You want annual, onboarding, exit and pulse surveys on one platform. You want managers to get prompts after each survey.

Do not buy it if

You need a guided or managed survey live sooner than about 14 weeks. Onboarding takes about six weeks and the build about eight weeks or more. You want generative AI off and a lower fee for it. Switching it off gives no refund, no amount off a later bill and no reduction in fees.

Price

All fees are in the order form. Unless the order form says otherwise, renewals are yearly and may add up to US inflation plus 5%.

It asks, reads and prompts managers, with you or Perceptyx doing the work

This section explains how much of the work Perceptyx does for you, and what the platform does with the answers. Perceptyx covers the whole loop of asking, reading and acting. Its Discover product runs the surveys. Employees can also submit ideas and vote on them. Its Activate package then sends prompts to managers and tracks what they do with them. Perceptyx also provides consultants. They design surveys, interpret results and run action planning.

You choose how much work Perceptyx does. Self-led comes with the platform. You design, build and launch the survey. Guided takes roughly eight weeks. It covers Point-in-Time surveys only, and you build the survey. Point-in-Time is Perceptyx’s name for its main surveys of staff, as against Lifecycle surveys. Managed takes roughly 12 to 16 weeks. Perceptyx designs, builds and launches the survey. Each tier assumes onboarding is finished. That takes about six weeks and includes single sign-on and the link to your HR system. So a first guided or managed survey is about 14 weeks or more away.

Comment reading is built in. Perceptyx uses natural language processing, which is software that reads text. It sorts each comment into themes and reads its intent. It labels each comment negative, neutral or positive. Your team can change that label and the theme list.

Generative AI tools are optional, on top of the core platform. Comment Copilot lets admin users summarise Point-in-Time comments with four preset prompts. The Narrative Analysis Agent reads comments from surveys and from outside sources such as Glassdoor and LinkedIn. AI Insights writes up strengths, weaknesses and focus areas from the survey numbers. The AI writes the words and cannot add an item or invent a figure. Perceptyx adds that it cannot remove all hallucinations. These are invented answers.

The Conversational Listening Agent chats with each employee and asks follow-up questions based on each answer. The starter agent comes as it is, with topics, rating questions and tone set by Perceptyx. Custom agents are built by Perceptyx as part of a paid, managed survey. Its agent page puts delivery in Teams, Slack or email. The FAQ on that page puts chat delivery in a web browser for now, with Teams and Slack coming soon.

After the results, the AI Engine proposes action plans for each manager to review. Employees can confirm or change the recommended items. If they do neither, Perceptyx creates the plans automatically. Nudges are short prompts. They use survey data, job level, personal goals and the organisation’s priorities. They also use HR system data such as time zone, language and manager. Perceptyx records how often people view nudges and how they react.

Perceptyx’s link to outside AI tools is early. It is called MCP, and it lets tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude read your listening data. Every request runs on the permissions the user already holds in Perceptyx. Confidentiality thresholds apply the same way. Perceptyx adds that the capabilities that matter most to an organisation may not be built yet.

Our guide to employee engagement software covers how the rest of this market works.

One platform, hidden small groups, benchmarks and a written AI promise

These are the parts of Perceptyx that work in a buyer’s favour. They matter most to a Head of HR who has to answer questions about privacy and AI.

One platform covers every survey type

You do not need a second vendor to start with several survey types. Perceptyx runs annual, lifecycle, pulse and 360 feedback surveys on one shared set of data and reports. Its lifecycle surveys cover onboarding, promotion, exit and change, and they connect to your HR system. Perceptyx pairs an annual or twice-yearly survey of everyone with pulses and always-on lifecycle surveys.

Small groups stay hidden, and you set the line

Results for a group appear only after enough people answer. Under its master services agreement, you set the minimum group size and remain responsible for it. Activate reporting never reports data for groups under five people. Exclusion rule filtering stops users from working out a hidden group’s score by subtraction. For driver analysis, 5 is the usual threshold.

Benchmarks come from 490 organisations

You can compare your scores with other employers. The Bench26 database covers 490 organisations. It covers their engagement, onboarding and exit surveys. It does not cover 360 feedback. Breakouts include industry group, country and region, and company and employee size. A cut appears only with 3 customer organisations. It also needs 5 respondents per organisation for each item.

A written promise on AI training

Perceptyx puts the promise in its AI Services Addendum. It warrants that it will not use customer data or AI input to train, retrain or improve its base models. It gives the same warranty for its outside generative AI vendors. Its information security system has ISO 27001 certification. It also gets a SOC 2 Type II audit each year.

It suits employers that want a vendor to run surveys and push managers to act

Perceptyx publishes customer stories. They come from very large and mid-sized employers. Each result below is the customer’s own report. Ask Perceptyx for a reference from an employer in your sector.

Very large employers, such as Sysco and Avery Dennison

Sysco reports 92% participation across 74,000 colleagues. It also reports two years in a row of 100% action plan completion by required leaders. Avery Dennison employs approximately 35,000 people. It reports 78.7% of eligible managers consistently active with nudges. It also reports a 70% average nudge view rate in the first six weeks. Perceptyx announced a partnership with Tesco across its 340,000-strong workforce.

Employers of hundreds to thousands

Inari has 290 or more employees and reports a 94% response rate. Neurocrine Biosciences has more than 1,300 employees and reports a 92% response rate to its annual survey. Majesco is remote-first with more than 2,000 employees. Its Engagement Index rose from 67% to 81%. These are results the customers report for themselves.

Staff who are not at a desk

QR codes and kiosk entry come with all three tiers. Nudges reach people by Slack, Teams, email, mobile, Workday, UKG and API. Perceptyx cites the roughly 80% of the global workforce that is not at a desk. Perceptyx reports a 91% frontline response rate in customer stories about lifecycle surveys. Horizon Health Network employs over 15,000 staff and physicians. An executive there reports voluntary turnover of 6.9% with Point-in-Time and Lifecycle surveys.

Employers tracing where leavers may come from

Prudential found specific groups of employees at highest risk of departure. It combined an intent-to-stay question with targeted text analysis of its 2024 engagement survey. Employees who answered the intent-to-stay question unfavourably were 6 times more likely to leave within the year. Perceptyx’s People Insights Model finds factors that predict productivity, retention and performance. It uses statistics to do this.

Features follow the package, and AI choices carry contract terms

This section covers where Perceptyx stops. The package, the AI choices and the contract terms below decide what you pay for and what you carry.

The package sets your features

For features in its September 2026 release notes, access depends on permissions and subscriptions. Paper, text message and bot delivery come only with the Managed tier. So does mixing confidential and anonymous respondents in one survey. On-demand coaching needs an Activate subscription. Action planning with AI and nudges come with the Activate or Grow packages. Its service-tier article lists the Narrative Analysis Agent with the Discover channel. Its March 2026 release notes list Platform, Point-in-Time and Narrative Analysis Agent subscriptions for it. Ask which applies to your tier.

Generative AI sends comments to outside AI companies

OpenAI, Anthropic and Google are sub-processors for optional generative AI. A sub-processor is an outside company that handles your data. Customer opt-in is required. Comment Copilot sends only comment text to OpenAI. A model masks names first, and Perceptyx adds that this may not eliminate all risks. Whatever a participant types in a Conversational Listening chat goes to an OpenAI model. An organisation that has opted out of OpenAI cannot use that agent. Perceptyx keeps users’ inputs and outputs to its AI system so its data science team can trace and explain results.

Switching AI off gives no money back

Using the services is consent to Perceptyx’s internal AI. Its AI Services Addendum calls that AI a foundational component. Generative features are the optional part. Disabling AI features gives no refund, no amount off a later bill and no reduction in fees. Perceptyx may also suspend or change AI features it cannot provide in line with the law.

Aggregated data may feed machine learning

Its master services agreement lets Perceptyx collect aggregated statistics on your use. It may use them to improve the product, build machine learning algorithms and make anonymous benchmarks. Its Data Protection and AI Transparency Overview adds a separate promise. Customer data is never used to train or fine-tune Perceptyx or sub-processor AI models. Ask Perceptyx to write in which one applies to your comments and answers.

Confidential means Perceptyx can identify people

Confidential surveys tie answers to each employee but report only groups. Confidential is Perceptyx’s most commonly used method. Perceptyx can identify the information you tell it to collect, in its own system. In the master services agreement, Perceptyx agrees to give you identified data on request. In an anonymous survey, everyone shares one link. No identifiable information is collected. You remain responsible for privacy notices and consents.

The emotion labels need your own EU AI Act check

A separate model labels six emotions from comment text. They are anger, fear, love, joy, sadness and surprise. The EU AI Act bans AI that infers the emotions of a person in the workplace. Medical and safety reasons are exceptions. The Commission’s guidelines tie that ban to inference from biometric data. Perceptyx’s own assessment, made with outside counsel, finds the platform a limited-risk system. Perceptyx advises customers to do their own analysis. Ask for its EU AI Act assessment and run it past your own adviser.

The liability cap is one year of fees

The master services agreement sets a cap on what each party can owe in total. The cap is the amount you paid in the twelve months before the first incident. That cap does not cover confidentiality or indemnification claims. The AI Services Addendum sets a different cap for claims under the Addendum. It is three times the fees paid in the preceding twelve months. So the most Perceptyx owes for all claims about its AI features is three times the last twelve months’ fees.

Fees sit in the order form and may rise by up to US inflation plus 5%

This section covers what Perceptyx charges, when the price can rise and what leaving costs. All fees and payment terms are in the order form. Federal records give a sense of scale for one product line. That line is Dialogue, powered by the Perceptyx Insights Platform and formerly Waggl. It sells on a US GSA schedule at $9,068.01 a year for an enterprise licence of up to 500 users. Account management and client services cost $2,569.27 per day on that schedule. The US Department of Veterans Affairs committed $51,456.93 to a Perceptyx enterprise licence, formerly Waggl. The award ran from 18 December 2023 to 17 December 2024. Ask for a quote for the product you want.

Some items cost extra. Premium benchmarks are bought separately. The Executive Results Consultation is bought separately on Managed surveys. It can be included in the contract. Importing history from another vendor brings in scaled question data only, and comments are left out. Optional enhancements to the history import may need additional cost.

It renews by itself for one-year periods unless the order form says otherwise. Either side can stop a renewal with 60 days’ written notice. Each renewal may carry a price adjustment of up to the US Consumer Price Index plus 5%. Perceptyx may change the agreement on written notice, and a change takes effect on renewal.

Either side may end the contract for an uncured material breach after 30 days’ notice. If you end it for cause, Perceptyx refunds prepaid fees for the rest of the annual period. If Perceptyx ends it for cause, you pay the unpaid fees for the rest of that period.

When the contract ends, Perceptyx will do one of two things at your request. It provides your data in a mutually agreeable format, or it destroys the data. Its data protection contract says Perceptyx deletes personal data as the agreement sets out. If the agreement is silent, deletion comes within 90 days after the contract ends. Its AI privacy document says deletion comes within 30 days of a request. The customer’s agreement with Perceptyx may set a different term. Perceptyx provides a certificate of deletion on request.

You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions to put to Perceptyx before you sign

The order form decides what you get. Get each good answer in writing before you sign.

  1. Is the Narrative Analysis Agent in our tier, or a separate subscription? Good answer: A named line in the order form, with its price.
  2. How many weeks run from signing to our first survey, including the six weeks of onboarding? Good answer: A dated plan for our tier, written into the order form.
  3. Which fee lines go away if we switch off each AI feature? Good answer: A separate price on every AI feature, written into the order form.
  4. Your terms allow machine learning on aggregated statistics. Do our comments and answers count? Good answer: A written line that our comments and answers are outside it.
  5. Which channels does the Conversational Listening Agent use today, and which are still coming? Good answer: A named list of live channels, with a date for the rest.
  6. What renewal rise will you write into the order form in place of US inflation plus 5%? Good answer: A fixed percentage cap, written into the order form.
  7. In what file format and within how many days do we get our data when the contract ends? Good answer: A named format and a day count, written into the contract.
  8. Can you send your data flow diagrams, Transfer Impact Assessment and Record of Processing Activity before signing? Good answer: All three, plus help for a works council briefing.

Alternatives to Perceptyx, including buying nothing

Three products do better than Perceptyx on one point each. Quantum Workplace has a shorter launch plan. Humaans hides who answered from your own admins. Culture Amp charges nothing for its AI right now. Buying nothing is the fourth route.

Launch time comes first. Perceptyx needs about six weeks of onboarding before a guided or managed build of about eight to 16 weeks. Quantum Workplace generally recommends 6 to 8 weeks from implementation call to survey launch. That suits a team that must run its first survey soon.

Next comes who can see names. Under Perceptyx’s master services agreement, you can ask for identified data from a confidential survey. Humaans is an HR system with its survey built in. Humaans admins cannot link a response or comment to an individual. Perceptyx also runs anonymous surveys, so ask for them by name.

Then comes the cost of AI. Some of Perceptyx’s generative tools need their own subscription, and switching AI off lowers no fee. Culture Amp AI is free for all users right now. Ask Culture Amp how long that holds.

Our guide for HR system owners covers surveys that come with an HR system. Buying nothing leaves the design, launch and follow-up with your own team. Perceptyx’s self-led tier leaves the same work with you, with software to help. Our market guide covers the other kinds of product.

Sources and method Most facts about Perceptyx come from its website, help centre, release notes and legal documents. It also draws on its customer stories and news posts. Prices and awards come from US federal records. The EU rules come from the AI Act and the Commission’s guidelines. What Perceptyx publishes about its own product is taken as a true description of that product. The facts about Quantum Workplace, Humaans and Culture Amp come from each vendor’s own pages. Where two of its own documents give different figures or channels, both are stated. The difference becomes a question for Perceptyx.
