Humaans Employee Engagement
Do you run your engagement survey inside Humaans, or buy a tool beside it? Humaans Employee Engagement keeps answers anonymous to admins and includes AI analysis of comments. Results cannot be exported. Standalone onboarding and exit surveys are not available. Each programme runs one schedule. Settle the engagement price, the seat floor and the 90-day notice before you sign.
Humaans runs a survey inside its HR system
Humaans Employee Engagement is a survey inside the Humaans HR system. The choice is between using it alone and adding a survey tool beside it.
You want a survey inside your HR system. You want admins unable to link a response to a person. You want AI comment summaries included in the subscription.
You need to export results. You need standalone onboarding or exit surveys. You need different survey cycles for offices, unless Spaces cover that.
Ask what Employee Engagement adds to your plan. An annual plan asks for a number of seats. That number usually acts as the lowest you pay for.
Two survey modes, results by group and AI on top
Humaans is an HR system. Employee Engagement is its survey feature, and Humaans launched it in August 2026. Here is how a survey runs, what the results look like and where the AI sits.
You pick who gets each survey by filtering employees. Filters include attributes such as department, team, manager, location, tenure, contract type, nationality, gender and custom fields. New hires join the next survey once they match the filters. Surveys arrive by Slack and email, with automatic reminders. They stay anonymous behind the smallest-group setting.
Continuous mode sends short, rotating surveys every two weeks, month or quarter. A new programme starts in continuous mode, monthly, with a two-week response window. Deep-dive mode runs the full question set once, for an annual or bi-annual snapshot. Its response window can be one, two or four weeks. Optional pulse surveys can run between. You can reword questions, add your own questions and topics, and set the cadence. Written answers to open questions sit beside the rated questions. They do not change the engagement score or the scores for what moves engagement.
Results appear as scores, trends and themed comments. You can split them by space, department, team, manager, location, tenure, contract type, nationality, gender and custom fields. The results view has the engagement score, eNPS and trends, plus a colour grid of scores by group. eNPS asks how likely people are to recommend the company as a place to work. Trends compare against a baseline you choose. That can be the previous run, a number of months ago or a specific run. The Comments tab groups written feedback as positive, neutral or negative. Each comment is labelled anonymous and carries the question it relates to.
The AI works in several places. The Comments tab opens with an AI summary. Comments cluster into themes, each with a short summary of its own. A Report tab adds an executive summary. AI insights highlight what is most strongly linked to engagement. After a low score or telling comment, AI asks a few tailored questions to draw out the why.
AI Companion is Humaans’ chat assistant. You can ask it about engagement results in plain language, and answers come live from the results. You can also ask any assistant connected through MCP about scores, trends or comments. MCP links an outside AI assistant to data the signed-in person is authorised to see. Answers through either route stay within what that person can already see in Engagement reporting.
AI Companion does not make decisions or take actions on the user’s behalf. It will not recommend a course of action on terminations, disciplinary action, compensation changes, legal compliance or performance management. It will not speculate about a person’s intentions, character or future plans.
If you add a separate survey tool, Humaans can feed it your people data. It exports people data in Culture Amp format and Lattice format for import into those accounts. It syncs people data to Leapsome. Its Officevibe integration creates accounts and pulls people data from Humaans. Its Workleap integration syncs data from Humaans into Workleap.
Humaans also sells Athena, an AI product that automates tasks for People Ops teams. An Athena agent sends eNPS surveys on a set schedule, collects scores and comments, and surfaces trends over time. The sections below cover Humaans Employee Engagement only.
Our guide for HR system owners covers the survey that comes with an HR system. Our employee engagement guide covers the whole market.
Answers stay anonymous to admins and the AI is included
These are the points that count in Humaans’ favour. They cover who sees the answers, how the AI is charged and how fast you can start.
Admins cannot link answers to people
Humaans keeps responses anonymous to everyone who views results, admins and owners included. Admins see scores, trends and comments for groups that meet the smallest-group setting. They cannot link a response or comment to a person. You set the smallest group. The default is five and the lowest you can set is three. The limit applies to each topic, question, group and overall score on its own. In continuous mode, questions rotate between people, so some topics appear before others. Humaans also hides segments that could be re-identified, even above the limit.
Engagement AI insights are included
Engagement AI insights, comment analysis and MCP are included in the subscription. They use no Humaans AI credits. MCP is included at no extra cost. Owners and admins can switch each AI feature on or off in Settings. When Humaans AI is disabled for an organisation, users cannot use its AI features. Customer data is then not sent to third-party AI providers for those features.
No training on AI inputs
Humaans does not use AI input or output to train generative AI models. It does not permit its AI providers to do so. It requires them to keep no copy of that input or output, under Zero Data Retention controls. Humaans does not use customer personal data to train, improve or develop general-purpose AI or machine learning models. AI features process personal data in the European Economic Area or Switzerland by default. US processing is available by agreement.
Launch first, refine later
Humaans offers a library of ready-made surveys to shape to your company. A company can launch with the recommended setup. It can refine cadence, audience, questions, segments and anonymity settings later.
Results cannot be exported and each programme runs one schedule
These are the points where the survey stops. Each one can decide whether you need another tool alongside it.
Each programme runs one schedule
Humaans’ help centre puts a customer at one engagement programme. That programme runs one schedule for its whole audience. Different cycles for offices or countries are not possible within it. Humaans’ product page puts it at a separate programme for each Space. A Space runs several entities in one account and comes with the Enterprise plan. Ask which of the two applies to you.
Results cannot be exported
Engagement results cannot be exported from Humaans. They are viewed in the reporting tabs. Questions removed from future surveys keep their historical responses. Those responses are not linked to future results. If you need results in a file or another tool, put that question to Humaans first.
No standalone onboarding or exit surveys
Standalone onboarding and exit surveys are not available in Humaans Engagement. New hires join the next survey once they match the audience filters. That route follows the schedule you set for the whole programme.
Scores can include older answers
Humaans can pool answers over several surveys. A score can then include a person’s answer from an earlier survey when they have not answered the current one. The options are none, three months, six months and 12 months. The default is six months. Check this setting before you read a trend.
AI Companion uses Humaans AI credits
AI Companion uses Humaans AI credits, unlike the other Engagement AI tools. Each company receives a free allowance of credits each month. Unused free credits expire at the end of each allowance period. Purchased credits expire 12 months after they are added. Credits have no cash value. They are non-refundable except where required by law or as Humaans’ terms allow.
Outside AI providers may change
Humaans may select and change third-party AI providers. Processing by these providers may occur in response to a user request or automatically in the background. Humaans AI included in the subscription is on by default when an account is created. AI Companion is off by default. Humaans does not guarantee the availability or uptime of Humaans AI.
AI output may be inaccurate
Humaans AI output may not always be accurate, complete, or unique. For a decision with legal or similarly significant effect on an employee, the customer must ensure meaningful human review. Humaans AI does not independently complete such decisions or actions without human review.
Seats, renewal and data return follow Humaans’ general terms
Humaans’ general terms set your cost and your exit. Ask whether Employee Engagement has terms of its own, and what it adds to your plan. Four things matter most. They are seats, notice, renewal and what happens to your data.
The HR plans are Growth and Enterprise. Enterprise brings Spaces and a dedicated customer success manager. MCP is available to all Growth and Enterprise customers. Performance Management is a separate add-on. Setting up Humaans takes from a few days to a few months.
Seats set the bill. An annual plan asks for a number of employee seats. That number usually acts as the lowest number you pay for. A seat is an active employee on the account. Users in new hire status do not count toward subscription pricing. The customer may not reduce seats below the lowest number agreed in the Sales Agreement. Humaans offers portfolio companies of partner venture capital and private equity firms a preferential rate.
Notice sets your exit date. The subscription renews automatically unless the customer gives at least 90 days’ written notice. Subscription fees are invoiced in advance. There are no refunds if the customer cancels before the end of the period. Humaans may increase subscription fees on renewal. A plan downgrade applies only at the renewal date.
The uptime promise is conditional. Humaans’ service level agreement applies only where the Sales Agreement incorporates it. Its uptime commitment is 99.9% a month on commercially reasonable endeavours.
Leaving runs on two clocks. After termination, the customer can ask within 30 days for return of all customer data. After that, Humaans deletes it from production systems and purges remaining copies within 90 days. Under its data processing terms, Humaans returns a complete copy of personal data by secure file transfer. The format is one the customer reasonably requests. On written request, Humaans provides written certification of the deletion of customer personal data.
Under its Terms of Service, Humaans is Humaans Software UK Ltd. The laws of England and Wales govern those terms. Companies House records the company as number 11496946, incorporated on 2 August 2018. Humaans reports $20M raised in total and a founding year of 2020.
You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Eight questions to put to Humaans
- Is Employee Engagement in my plan, or does it cost extra? Good answer: A written line item, with its price for each seat.
- Can offices or countries run different survey cycles? Good answer: A named setup, such as a Space, with its plan and price.
- Can survey results leave Humaans in any file or tool? Good answer: A named export, or a written route for results at exit.
- Does the copy of personal data I get at exit include survey responses? Good answer: Yes, named in writing, with the file format.
- How many seats will I pay for, and what is the lowest number? Good answer: A figure for each, written into the Sales Agreement.
- Which AI features are switched on when my account is created? Good answer: A list of each feature, and who can switch it off.
- Which AI providers handle my data, and where? Good answer: Named providers, and notice before any change.
- Does the uptime promise apply to my account? Good answer: Yes, written into my Sales Agreement.
Alternatives to Humaans Employee Engagement, including buying nothing
If Humaans Employee Engagement stops short, Culture Amp and Hive each answer one of its limits. Buying nothing is a third route.
Look at Culture Amp for onboarding and exit surveys. Standalone onboarding and exit surveys are not available in Humaans Engagement. Culture Amp has onboard survey templates for new hires and an Exit Survey template for people leaving. Its onboarding and exit surveys are non-confidential by default. Admins and assigned interviewers can view individual responses. Humaans already exports people data in Culture Amp format for import into a Culture Amp account.
Look at Hive if you need results in a file. Humaans engagement results cannot be exported. Hive admins can export survey responses, recognitions, suggestions and users as CSV. Each column in Hive’s CSV exports is randomised independently, so no row is one person.
Buying nothing means giving up a survey that already holds each person’s department, team, manager and other fields. You also give up AI summaries of comment themes that use no Humaans AI credits.
