WorkTango Surveys & Insights

WorkTango Surveys & Insights comes with an AI you can switch off, hides small groups and includes free benchmarks. Only WorkTango staff can change the smallest group shown, and some survey settings name the respondent. Several connection guides cover the rewards product, so ask what applies to the survey. Pricing depends on headcount, and BI WORLDWIDE bought WorkTango in July 2026.

WorkTango sells its survey on its own or in the full platform, with a switch for the AI

In one line

WorkTango Surveys & Insights measures engagement and experience across the employee lifecycle. Leaders get action plans and AI summaries of comments.

Buy it if

You want one survey product for engagement, onboarding and exit. You want one setting that turns off all its AI. You want to launch within about six weeks, as most organisations do.

Do not buy it if

You need to change the smallest group shown yourself. You need Slack or single sign-on for the survey and cannot get that confirmed in writing before you sign.

Price

Annual cost depends on employee count, so ask WorkTango for a quote. The minimum contract is 12 months.

What Surveys & Insights runs, from the first survey to the action plan

Surveys & Insights is WorkTango’s survey product. You can buy it alone or inside the full platform, which also covers Recognition & Rewards and Manager Enablement. Surveys and pulse checks are unlimited. The question library holds more than 250 questions. Templates cover engagement, DE&I, M&A, onboarding and exit. WorkTango recommends an annual or twice-yearly survey with monthly or quarterly pulses.

A survey is Standard or Continuous. Continuous surveys run on their own against an employee’s onboarding or exit timeline. A live survey cannot be edited, so finish the questions before you send. Experts help with survey design in the Surveys & Insights plan.

Each role gets its own view of results. HR sees the organisation, and managers see their team. A heatmap, which is a colour grid of scores, compares groups within an employee attribute. The trends view compares up to 10 surveys. Impact analysis picks the key focus areas. The platform also calculates eNPS. That score asks whether people would recommend the employer as a place to work. It is promoters minus detractors.

Action Planning turns results into steps. It draws on a library of curated actions that WorkTango built. Each action belongs to a factor, and suggestions come from the lowest scoring factors. Managers assign owners, set deadlines and track progress. HR and executives watch completion rates.

Four AI features sit on top. AI comment summaries read the open-text questions and the associated responses and comments. They end with recommended actions. Themes build automatically for completed surveys. Each comment also gets a positive, negative or neutral label. Coach lets users ask questions of survey data in plain language. It builds an action plan for each manager and tracks follow-through.

Employee data can reach the survey through a scheduled file transfer, called SFTP. It sends a spreadsheet file weekly or monthly, and WorkTango provides the credentials within a week. You can also upload Excel or spreadsheet files in the platform. WorkTango connects to almost any modern HR system through SFTP. WorkTango’s platform integrates with UKG Pro, UKG Ready and UKG Workforce Management.

Coach has two different labels. The Coach page has a Join Early Access button. A press release of 2 April 2026 calls Coach available now for WorkTango customers. The Coach page also calls it built directly into the Surveys & Insights platform. Ask which label applies to your contract, and get the answer in the order form.

Our guide to employee engagement software covers how the rest of this market handles the same decision.

Four things count in WorkTango’s favour

These four points matter to a buyer. They are control over the AI, protection for small groups’ answers, free comparison data and reach to staff without email.

One setting turns off all AI

Switching off hides the AI features and stops data going to the AI. The setting covers all AI features in Surveys & Insights. WorkTango’s generative AI features use Google’s Gemini models. Customer data is never used to train or fine tune the underlying models. All AI interactions are logged with time stamps and input data. Independent auditors assess the generative AI at least annually. Armilla AI, an independent assessor, assessed the AI comment summaries and themes for accuracy, fairness and compliance.

Small groups stay hidden, and so does the next one up

The default smallest group shown is 5 responses. Groups below it are hidden. WorkTango also hides the next smallest group, so nobody can work out a hidden result by subtraction. Text comments stay hidden when an open question has fewer than 5 responses. WorkTango’s Employee Promise page says administrators cannot drill into individual responses. Some settings change this, so read the limits section too. AI comment summaries are generated only when the smallest group is met.

Benchmarks are free

They cover engagement, DE&I, onboarding and exit questions. A benchmark appears only when 5 or more companies contributed. WorkTango calculates them at the end of each calendar year, and the platform covers the last 2 years. Engagement questions can be compared with all WorkTango customers, your own industry, country, region or sector, or the top quartile. Size comparison covers only your own size bucket. WorkTango advises you not to rely on benchmarks alone.

Staff without a work email can answer

Employees without email can use unique links, Employee ID sign-in or QR codes. A Survey Kiosk adds a link, signage or QR code for staff with no regular computer access. BraunAbility used the QR code so employees could answer on a personal device. It reports a 56% response rate. The employee survey screen comes in more than 40 languages.

Seven places to question WorkTango before you sign

These are the seven places where Surveys & Insights stops or needs a closer look. Each card ends on a question or a check to make before you sign.

BI WORLDWIDE now owns WorkTango

WorkTango announced on 20 July 2026 that BI WORLDWIDE, called BIW, had acquired it. WorkTango will operate as a BIW subsidiary. It will migrate its core fulfilment infrastructure to BIW’s global rewards marketplace. Ask what the sale changes for the survey contract, support and data.

WorkTango staff change the smallest group

Only WorkTango employees can change it. A Surveys and Insights Consultant at WorkTango makes any change above or below 5 for the customer. A change affects all past, present and future surveys under a survey type. WorkTango requires you to email employees about a lower threshold. You also add a message at the start of the survey and on the invitation. Harris Computer reports that leaders with fewer direct reports than the threshold could not view any responses for their team. Each change goes through WorkTango, so ask how fast it happens.

Some survey settings name the respondent

A survey type with a smallest group of 1 is non-anonymous. Its individual report includes name, employee ID, email, manager, dates, attributes and responses. A comment box on a question that is not open text means results are not anonymised. In its Employee Promise FAQ, WorkTango builds the platform on anonymous responses. The employer cannot individualise them, and companies cannot download raw data to do so. Every survey carries an Anonymity Indicator that tells the respondent how responses will be handled. Check which settings your surveys will use before you promise staff anything. Then test the export.

Team feedback reaches managers above

A leader’s own manager and anyone above can access feedback from the leader’s direct reports. Reading comments is a separate permission, so you choose who reads them. Access to all employees is typically given to HR or the initiative lead. Tell leaders before the first survey who else sees their team’s results.

Some guides cover rewards only

The Slack, Merge connector and single sign-on guides are each for Recognition & Rewards. None applies to Surveys & Insights. The connector guide prices extra connectors at $500 per year, for Recognition & Rewards. A Surveys & Insights planning article covers a Merge HR system connection that may update the employee file. WorkTango supports single sign-on. The documents point different ways, so ask which connections work for the survey product.

AI sorts people and places in comments

An Entities tab sorts things named in comments, such as people and places. Users with permission can change a comment’s AI sentiment label, and WorkTango advises giving that to select administrators. Summaries come in English, French and Spanish. Repeated summaries may use different words for the same theme. Decide who sees the Entities tab and who may edit labels.

Support runs on Central Time

The support team is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm CT. 94% of inbound tickets get a first response within 6 business hours. The bug resolution target is 60 business days or less. Ask whether your contract sets a shorter target.

Customers report eNPS rises, a shorter survey and faster summaries

These stories come from a pharmacy chain, a restaurant chain, a software company and a credit union. Three report rising eNPS, and the credit union shortened its survey. HumanGood has about 5,000 team members and reports that AI summaries cover a large amount of feedback in minutes. Ask WorkTango for the customer closest to your situation.

Harris Computer, over 15,000 employees, reports eNPS up 24 points

Harris Computer is a global vertical market software company. It bought Surveys & Insights. It reports a 24-point rise in overall eNPS since launching the survey programme. Among frontline and midline managers the rise is 20 points.

Rexall reports eNPS up from 12.2 to 42.2

Rexall is a Canadian pharmacy chain with over 470 locations. It has 6,000+ employees. It reports average eNPS of 12.2 in 2020 and 42.2 by 2021. It also reports engagement up 34 points, from 43.5% to 77.5%.

Pizza Pizza reports eNPS from -32 to +14

Pizza Pizza is a Canadian restaurant chain with more than 1,600 employees. Its eNPS rose from -32 at the outset to -16 in 2020 and +14 in 2021. That is a total rise of 46 points. Its HR manager reports it was up and running in a month.

A credit union cut 80 questions to 20

American Eagle Financial Credit Union bought Surveys & Insights first. It later bought Recognition & Rewards. It reports engagement up 12 points to 81 between March 2022 and March 2023. Its action score rose from 43 to 66. It cut the survey length from 80 questions to 20.

HumanGood summarises comments in minutes

HumanGood has approximately 5,000 team members. It reports that the AI comment summary feature summarises a large amount of feedback in minutes. AI comment summaries became generally available to all Surveys & Insights customers on 27 August 2024.

Price, leaving and where your data sits

WorkTango prices Surveys & Insights by employee count, so the quote is your first real number. Volume discount pricing is among the features of the Full Employee Experience Platform plan. WorkTango sells its products under separate terms and conditions from its website terms. Ask for the quote and those terms together, and weigh the 12-month minimum against them.

A team of implementation experts, customer success managers and strategic consultants supports customers. Most organisations are ready to launch in four to six weeks.

Results leave as a PowerPoint summary report and as Excel results. The Excel options include a raw survey data export. WorkTango deletes customer data on request, or as agreements or law require. Its California, Colorado and Virginia privacy notice covers retention. It sets 90 days after the contract expires or ends, for the personal data the notice covers. Ask for a day count for your own export window, in writing.

WorkTango hosts its services in the United States. Personal data may be sent to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and countries in the European Economic Area. Its Data Protection Addendum adopts the Standard Contractual Clauses in jurisdictions where they apply. Its certifications include SOC 2 Type II. It uses aggregate, anonymised data from its client base to inform its product roadmap.

You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions to put to WorkTango before you sign

  1. What annual price will you quote for our headcount, and what does the 12-month minimum cover? Good answer: A written annual price, with any volume discount shown.
  2. Who can change the smallest group shown, how fast, and which surveys does a change reach? Good answer: A named WorkTango contact, a turnaround time and a list of the survey types affected.
  3. Does the raw survey export carry employee IDs, email addresses or other identities? Good answer: A test export from our own account, at each threshold we plan to use.
  4. Is Coach available to us now, and is it in our contract? Good answer: A written yes or no in the order form.
  5. Which connections work for the survey product, such as Slack, single sign-on and the HR system connector? Good answer: A written list for Surveys & Insights alone.
  6. How many days after the contract ends can we export our results, and when do you delete them? Good answer: A day count for each, written into the contract.
  7. What does the BI WORLDWIDE sale change for our survey, our support and our data? Good answer: Written answers on who owns the data, who supports us and what the roadmap holds.
  8. Can we read the Armilla AI assessment and the latest annual audit of the AI? Good answer: A copy of each, or the date and scope of each.

Alternatives to WorkTango, including buying nothing

Hive, EngageRocket and Gallup each answer one place where WorkTango stops. Buying nothing is a fourth route.

In WorkTango, any change to the smallest group shown goes through WorkTango. In Hive, the default is groups of 6. The customer can set a higher minimum itself. Lowering it to 3 is by request.

WorkTango’s AI comment summaries come in English, French and Spanish. EngageRocket’s AI sentiment analysis covers 75+ languages. Managers using EngageRocket get topic and sentiment insights in 70+ languages. These are different features, so ask each vendor which AI features work in your staff’s languages.

Some WorkTango survey settings name the respondent. Under Gallup’s Q12 terms, individual respondent data is not a deliverable. Nothing under four participants goes outside Gallup. Gallup Access also has pulse and employee experience surveys. Ask whether the same term covers them.

If you run an HR system, our guide for HR system owners covers surveys inside HR systems.

Buying nothing means setting your own smallest group shown. You would also hide the next smallest group, as WorkTango does. Weigh WorkTango’s 12-month minimum against what you would build. Our market guide covers the other routes.
