WTW Engage

WTW Engage is a survey platform built around WTW’s benchmark database. WTW sells it on an annual licence. Help runs from self-service to a full WTW team. Ask for the licence and support prices first. Then settle the smallest group shown, who sees individual answers and how the AI treats comments.

Engage pairs a survey platform with WTW’s benchmark data and staff

In one line

Engage is WTW’s employee survey platform with a benchmark database. WTW sells it on an annual licence.

Buy it if

You want to compare your results with other employers by country, sector, function or high performance. You may want WTW staff to run the survey process for you.

Do not buy it if

You want detailed action-plan administration in the software. WTW sells Engage on recommendations instead. You want to pay month to month. WTW sells Engage on an annual licence.

Price

Annual software licence. Support tiers add a dedicated consultant or a project team. Ask WTW for each price.

Engage compares your results with WTW’s norms and can come with WTW staff

Engage runs your employee surveys and compares the results with WTW’s norms. WTW’s Engage page counts nearly 500 benchmarks, updated every year. Its Employee Surveys page gives over 400 in one place and nearly 500 in another. They cover country, sector, function and high performance.

A licence includes validated survey templates and a library of more than 800 questions. Engage handles the large annual survey and shorter pulse surveys. WTW also runs lifecycle surveys at moments such as promotions, return from leave, work anniversaries, onboarding and exit. Subject matter experts design the pulse surveys, and WTW can also build a survey from scratch.

The survey platform links to your HR system to fill in demographics. It sends branded invitations and reminders and tracks live results. Reports come online or as a PowerPoint download. Under premium support, WTW staff can run the whole survey process. The price section sets out the tiers.

WTW also offers Advanced Analytics for Engage. Its Turnover Predictions find the drivers of actual turnover, for everyone or for one group. Its Business Predictions find what drives business results. It combines survey data with HR system and business data.

Our guide to employee engagement software sets Engage beside the rest of the market.

AI on comments, advice for managers and help inside the licence

AI reads comments in over 80 languages

WTW announced Text Analytics in August 2023. It analyses parts of each comment separately, in over 80 languages. The AI Text Analytics Summary picks out the topics and emotions in comments. A reader sees the insight in Smart Reports without reading every response.

Managers get advice on their own dashboard

Engage Coach AI gives managers short advice based on their team’s survey results. The advice matches three priority areas chosen from those results. It works for any survey topic. Managers can also search a library of suggestions, videos, articles and book summaries.

Tutorials, and surveys when you want

An Engage licence includes on-demand guidance and best practice tutorials. Licensed customers can run surveys when they want and as often as they want.

Surveys can start from HR events

Onboarding and exit surveys can link to your HR system. Onboarding surveys can then start on their own at 30, 60 and 90 days. Exit surveys can start when an employee resigns.

It suits buyers who want outside norms, many languages or WTW running the work

Engage suits three kinds of buyer.

You want outside norms

Engage sets your results against nearly 500 benchmarks. They cover country, sector, function and high performance.

You want WTW to run it

Premium support gives a dedicated team to run the survey end to end. A senior consultant leads it.

You survey in many languages

WTW surveys 10 million employees a year in 100 languages. Text Analytics reads comments in over 80.

Air Products and Wells Fargo shared their Engage work in a May 2024 WTW webcast. KeyBank works with WTW for its software and advice. A senior HR business partner at Nomad Foods Europe attributes significant progress in employee engagement to Engage.

WTW reports average global Engage response rates over 80%. G2 gave Engage its Highest User Adoption recognition in Fall 2022. WTW’s Engage page puts its use at hundreds of leading organisations a year. Its Employee Engagement page puts it at thousands. Ask for references in your own sector and country.

Privacy settings, AI use and action tracking are yours to settle

Engage leaves several decisions with you. They cover who sees what, how the AI handles comments and how managers track action.

Minimum group size

Reports display only groups with at least the minimum number of respondents. Ask WTW for that number. Ask who can change it.

Access to individual answers is your choice

The customer decides whether the employer sees individual responses. That choice allows the employer’s own analysis outside the software. It also raises legal questions before launch. WTW offers standard confidentiality statements and restricted access to data files. WTW cannot offer legal advice on how its software supports a customer’s data and confidentiality needs. In countries such as Germany, employee works councils need to be involved in the planning phase of a survey. Raise it early.

The comment AI labels emotion

The AI Text Analytics Summary analyses the emotion and meaning of text comments. The EU AI Act bans AI that infers emotions at work, except for medical or safety reasons. The Commission’s guidelines put emotions inferred without biometric data, such as sentiment in written text, outside that ban. The guidelines add that assessing wellbeing, motivation levels or job satisfaction does not count as a medical reason. The Act defines emotion recognition by biometric data. The guidelines are not binding. Ask WTW to confirm that the comment AI uses no biometric data, such as voice, video or keystrokes.

The AI data promise covers Engage Coach AI

Engage Coach AI is GDPR compliant. It does not share any data for subsequent training or storage. It uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI. Ask whether the same promise covers Text Analytics.

Storyboards recommend actions

Engage storyboards give short recommendations and evidence-based opportunities, rather than detailed action-planning administration. WTW consulting adds action planning guidance based on survey results. Ask how your managers will track the actions they agree.

An annual licence, with support tiers you ask WTW to price

WTW sells Engage under an annual software licence. The offer ranges from self-service licences to a full-scale strategic partnership. Ask for the licence price and the price of each support tier in writing.

The licence includes a Client Success Manager and a 24/7 help desk. WTW also sells a tier with a dedicated WTW consultant. Premium support adds a dedicated senior consultant and project team for a large-scale annual survey. Under premium support, a dedicated team manages and runs the survey process end to end using Engage.

WTW’s Employee Surveys page puts its consultants at 400. Its Elevate page puts its organisational psychologists, consultants, scientists and client success managers at 250. Ask who would work on your survey.

Two public contracts give examples of WTW survey work for US federal bodies. In September 2026 the Nuclear Regulatory Commission signed a $197,897.50 contract with Willis Towers Watson US LLC. It covers help with a safety culture and climate survey for the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. A 2019 contract worth $345,339.70 covered survey design and analyses. It served the Commission’s Office of the Inspector General and the Board. Ask WTW to price your own scope.

Onboarding survey data and exit survey data can be exported to Excel and PDF. Ask for the same for your engagement survey results. Ask what happens to your data when the licence ends.

You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions for WTW

  1. What does the licence cost, and what does each support tier add? Good answer: A written price for the licence and each tier, with what each includes.
  2. Which Advanced Analytics for Engage predictions are in our licence? Good answer: A written list of what is included and what costs extra.
  3. What is the smallest group your reports display, and can we change it? Good answer: A stated number, and a named person on our side who sets it.
  4. Does the data promise for Engage Coach AI cover Text Analytics too? Good answer: Yes in writing, with the AI providers and where comments are processed.
  5. Who in our organisation can see individual answers, and where do we set that? Good answer: A setting we choose for each survey, with a record of changes.
  6. How do all our survey results leave when the licence ends? Good answer: A file format and a time window, written into the contract.
  7. Which benchmark count applies to us, over 400 or nearly 500? Good answer: A list of the norms in our licence, by country, sector and function.
  8. What material will WTW give us for a works council or a legal review? Good answer: The standard Data Processing Notice and survey details, ready before launch.

Alternatives to WTW Engage, including buying nothing

If Engage does not fit, look at Leapsome, 15Five or buying nothing.

WTW gives its no-training promise for Engage Coach AI. Ask whether it covers Text Analytics too. Leapsome’s promise covers customer data and AI models in general. Its AI settings article puts it as never. Its AI Terms add the words “without express permission”. Ask Leapsome which wording binds.

Engage storyboards give short recommendations rather than detailed action-planning administration. 15Five action plans include goals, actions, owners and progress tracking. A manager or admin creates and launches each plan. Its help articles differ on the package. Two include Engage and Total Platform. One puts them in Total Platform only. One puts the feature in Total Platform. Ask 15Five which package you need.

Buying nothing means reading comments yourself. Engage analyses them in over 80 languages. Your managers also lose Engage Coach AI advice on their dashboard. You avoid an annual licence and any support tier.
