Empuls

Empuls is a rewards platform from Xoxoday with a survey side. Staff can answer on their own phone or at a kiosk. Group breakdowns appear only once a group reaches a minimum size. Its AI also gives HR a named list of staff likely to leave. Xoxoday’s own documents disagree on data use, export, security and uptime. Get each answer in writing.

Empuls adds employee surveys to a rewards platform

In one line

Empuls runs surveys beside recognition and rewards. You pay per employee, and Xoxoday gives the price list on request.

Buy it if

You want surveys, recognition and rewards in one place. Your staff answer on phones, in Slack or Teams, or without a company email. You are happy to ask for a quote first.

Do not buy it if

You need a published price to compare. Your organisation will not accept a list of staff Empuls expects to leave. You need the export window and deletion date agreed in writing before you sign.

Price

Empuls charges per employee per month. Volume tiers begin at 250 employees. Delivering the rewards staff pick, custom-built links or premium products may cost extra.

Ready-made surveys, an AI that reads the comments, and action plans

Empuls Surveys gives HR ready-made surveys and an AI that reads the answers. It sits inside a platform for recognition, rewards, benefits and a company-wide feed. Xoxoday launched that platform in 2018. You can switch on Surveys alone.

HR can read engagement by team without writing a question. A pulse survey asks one eNPS question, scored 0 to 10, on whether people would recommend the company. It adds 15 follow-up questions that roll up into four engagement drivers, by team. You choose weekly, monthly or quarterly.

Lifecycle surveys reach people at set points in their time with you. There are eight types, from onboarding to exit. Rules can target a department, location, role, type of employment or length of service. For each survey you choose whether answers are anonymous, visible to the manager or visible to HR. Exit surveys default to anonymous.

Reading comments is where the AI saves HR time. An assistant called Em reads every open-text answer. It groups them into themes with tone and supporting quotes. Each theme links back to the comments behind it. Answers in 20 or more languages are translated into English, so one set of themes covers everyone. Empuls then ranks a recommended action plan.

Empuls also runs continuous listening, a conversational AI agent. It reaches employees in Slack, Teams, WhatsApp or email. It adapts its follow-up questions to each answer. The same listening produces the list of named people covered under Where it stops.

Action plans turn results into tasks with owners. They can start from any survey type. Each task is Active, In Review or Done, set by the person assigned. Owners get reminders in Slack and Teams. To see whether an action moved the score, Empuls advises running the survey again.

Empuls reads employee records from your HR system, so surveys can target any HR field. Its survey FAQ gives pre-built two-way links to Workday, BambooHR, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, Rippling, ADP and more. The Workday, Oracle HCM and SAP SuccessFactors pages describe one-way syncs. Empuls sends nothing back to those systems. So survey results may stay in Empuls and not reach your HR system. Ask question 7 below.

Who can change the settings. Ask which people on your side can change who sees which results. Write down how each setting is set on signing day.

Our guide to employee engagement software helps you choose the kind of product before you choose a vendor.

Staff need no company device, and breakdowns need a minimum group

Staff need no company email.

They reach Empuls by app, WhatsApp, SMS, email or a shared kiosk. They need no company device. Pulse invitations can go out as WhatsApp messages. Empuls is designed for hybrid, distributed and frontline workforces.

Breakdowns need a minimum group.

A group appears only after it reaches a minimum number of answers, typically five. You can change that number. Empuls enforces it across the platform. Managers see their own team, HR business partners their unit and leadership the organisation.

Benchmarks come built in.

Empuls compares your results with the AON Hewitt database by sector, size and region. It also compares with companies in the same sector and headcount band. Pulse eNPS appears against cross-industry norms.

You choose where data sits.

Enterprise customers choose the data region when they sign. Empuls runs on AWS with main data centres in the US and EU. Its pricing FAQ puts hosting across the US, India, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its tender answers add Oracle and Azure data centres. Empuls moves data across regions only with explicit consent. Its security page offers a private cloud for one customer, or a set-up in your own data centre. Ask for the region in writing.

It suits buyers who want rewards, from a few hundred staff to over 10,000

Empuls fits buyers who want rewards in the same product. It also fits employers with workforces from a few hundred to over 10,000. Every figure below is Empuls’s own.

Buyers who want rewards too.

Empuls brings recognition, rewards and surveys into one product. It analyses recognition gaps and survey sentiment by team. It then sends managers personalised nudges.

Large employers.

A global IT and professional services company with more than 10,000 employees used Empuls. Empuls reports that survey participation rose from 39% to 88%. Pulse response rose from 26% to 82%. Teams acting on results rose from 24% to 72%. Empuls puts its customers’ pulse response consistently at 90% or more. It sets that against an industry average of 30 to 40% for longer email surveys.

Workforces from a few hundred.

Gulf Taleed has a workforce of 250 in Saudi Arabia. Empuls reports 70% completion within seven days of launch for Gulf Taleed’s new joiner surveys.

Teams leaving form tools.

KPIT Technologies has more than 5,000 employees. It moved its annual satisfaction survey from Google Forms to Empuls.

A named list, and terms that Xoxoday’s documents answer differently

Several points need settling in writing before you sign. Xoxoday’s own documents answer some of them differently. The first is a list of named people.

A list of named people.

Continuous listening gives HR a list of employees at risk of leaving. It gives the reason each person was flagged. A person appears when signals fall below set thresholds or decline steadily. Only designated HR users with explicit permission see the list. Empuls also promises that individual responses are anonymised in all aggregate reporting. Ask how the list fits that promise. Unless stated otherwise, Xoxoday does not make decisions with serious legal or similar effects on people by automated processing alone. Ask what HR may do with a name on the list.

Custom surveys leave analysis to HR.

Empuls puts the analysis of custom surveys with your HR team. Plan the time and skills for that work before you build your own survey.

Check what the AI covers.

Beside the Empuls AI chat, the reports screen cautions that AI-generated content may be inaccurate. Empuls calls its AI analysis of recognition messages directional, and not for individual performance ratings. Ask which other AI features carry a caution like these.

Two answers on data use.

Empuls’s survey FAQ promises no third-party benchmarking without explicit consent. It promises no product training on survey data without explicit consent. On its AI sentiment page, Empuls adds that the model runs without training on customer data. Its privacy policy adds that anonymised or aggregated data may be used for analytics, reporting, benchmarking, product improvement and research. Ask which one governs your contract.

Export and deletion.

Empuls’s survey FAQ gives 30 days after contract end to request a full export. The export is free and comes in CSV, JSON or XLSX. After that window Empuls deletes the data under the retention policy agreed in your data protection contract. Its terms of service add a limit. The website is not liable for keeping personal information beyond one day after the contract is deactivated. Its tender answers add that you keep ownership of your data and get written confirmation of deletion. Ask for one written window and one deletion date.

Security and uptime.

Empuls’s survey FAQ gives SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022. Its tender answers give SOC 2 Type 1. They add that Xoxoday is earning SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27701 and ISO 14001. The survey FAQ gives enterprise contracts a 99.9% uptime promise with a remedy for downtime. The tender answers target 99.99% uptime. They add that the exact terms are confirmed when you sign. Ask for the report and the figure in writing.

Indian law and data transfers.

Under Empuls’s terms of service, the law of India governs. Courts in Bangalore have exclusive jurisdiction. The terms set arbitration in Mumbai. Personal data may be transferred to and accessed from India, the UAE and the United States. Compare that with the region you choose for storage. The list of other companies that handle your data comes on request, or under an NDA.

You get a quote per employee, and a start in two to twelve weeks

Empuls Surveys is licensed per employee per month. The price scales with your headcount and the products you switch on. Volume tiers begin at 250 employees. Minimum headcount thresholds vary by region. Xoxoday gives the full pricing matrix on request.

The platform fee covers access. Delivering the rewards staff pick, custom-built links or premium products may carry extra charges. Ready-made links to named systems are included. A custom-built link to another system may have a one-time build cost.

Annual contracts are standard. Multi-year terms with volume pricing are available for enterprise customers. Contract terms are negotiated for each deal, with no fixed minimum order value. Adding employees or products mid-contract is handled by an amendment, typically prorated. Structured pilots scoped to your team size are offered as a trial.

The Empuls Agent is priced apart from Surveys. It has an implementation fee, an annual platform fee and a charge for each programme, with no fixed minimum.

Start-up times differ by document. The overview FAQ gives most customers 2 to 4 weeks to go live. The survey FAQ gives 4 to 8 weeks. It gives 10 to 12 weeks for complex enterprise set-ups. Those have custom single sign-on and an HR system across several regions. The HR FAQ puts complex rollouts at six to eight weeks. Ask for the date your own set-up goes live.

All plans include 24/7 multilingual support. Enterprise plans add monthly success reviews and a dedicated customer success manager. Growth-tier customers get email and in-app support with 24-hour response times. Strategic consulting on survey design, analysis and action planning is sold on its own.

A multi-year contract needs a supplier that lasts. Xoxoday began in 2012 as Giftxoxo and raised a Series C in 2025. Management has said the business has been growing profitably. Xoxoday has also said it is preparing for a possible IPO in late 2027 or early 2028. Its site footer gives Nreach Online Services Pvt Ltd as the operating company. Ask which company signs your contract.

You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions to settle before you sign

  1. What is the price per employee per month for Surveys alone, and what is the minimum headcount in our region? Good answer: A written price, with every extra charge named.
  2. Who can see the list of people flagged as likely to leave? Are employees told the list exists? Good answer: Named roles, fixed in the contract, and a line employees can read.
  3. Does the consent promise or the privacy policy govern our survey data? Good answer: The consent promise, written into our order form.
  4. How long do we have to export our data, and when is it deleted? Good answer: One written window, and deletion confirmed in writing.
  5. Can we read your SOC 2 Type II report, and which dates does it cover? Good answer: The report itself, with its dates.
  6. Which uptime figure goes in our contract, and what do we get if you miss it? Good answer: A written figure and a stated remedy.
  7. What does Empuls send back to our HR system, and how often does it sync? Good answer: A list of what moves each way, with the timing.
  8. In which region will our data sit, and which companies handle it? Good answer: A named region, and the full list of other companies.

Alternatives to Empuls, including buying nothing

Three alternatives answer three places where Empuls stops. Hive covers where data sits. EngageRocket covers who helps with analysis. Nectar covers the list of named people. Buying nothing is the fourth route.

Empuls gives different hosting answers in different documents. Hive’s documents differ too. Its security information has data stored and backed up in Dublin, Ireland. Its pricing page puts hosting in the UK. Its G-Cloud 15 listing gives the European Economic Area. All three put storage in the UK or Europe. One sub-processor in the USA delivers survey emails. Ask Hive for the exact location in writing.

Empuls puts the analysis of custom surveys with your HR team. It sells strategic consulting on survey design and analysis on its own. EngageRocket pairs its software with a team of organisational psychologists and HR consultants. Customer success, advisory, data migration and implementation support are in-house. They are included in the subscription.

Nectar gives a different view of the same kind of list. Its Signals FAQ puts it plainly. Signals does not predict who will quit. It points to employees who follow the same behavioural patterns as people who already left. Individual detail is limited to the people responsible for supporting that person. Managers see only their own team.

Buying nothing means giving up what Empuls adds. That is its recognition and rewards, and its AI agent in Slack, Teams or WhatsApp. It also removes the data-use, export and named-list questions above. If you pay for an HR system, it may also carry a survey. Our guide for HR system owners covers that route.

Sources and method Everything about Empuls comes from Xoxoday’s own website, customer stories and policies. The Xoxoday funding facts also come from a news report. Alternatives come from each vendor’s own published pages. What a vendor says about its own product is taken as true. Where two Xoxoday documents differ, both are given.
