SEEK Assist

SEEK Assist ranks the people who apply to your SEEK job ad. It also runs AI screening questions and reference checks. Your team decides who moves forward. Get the add-on fee and the allowance for your ad type in writing before you sign.

SEEK Assist ranks and screens the people who apply to your SEEK ad

In one line

A ranking and screening add-on for SEEK applicants. Your team still decides, and SEEK can reuse what it produces.

Buy it if

You already advertise on SEEK and want applicants ranked and screened in the same place. You are happy for it to cover only the people who applied to that ad.

Do not buy it if

You need to screen people who reached you from other sources. You need the voice recordings or raw transcripts. You cannot accept SEEK keeping and reusing what Assist produces.

Price

The Assist add-on is a fixed fee. Each eligible ad has a set number of uses. SEEK may charge for use above that limit.

It scores applicants, asks them questions and checks references

Assist scores and ranks applicants against the criteria you set. It explains why each one is a strong fit and delivers a shortlist. Assist also runs AI voice interviews with top candidates. Three of SEEK’s ad types each carry an Assist allowance. One gives a shortlist, 3 AI Pre-screens and 1 reference check. Another gives 15 AI Pre-screens and 5 reference checks. A third gives unlimited AI Pre-screens and reference checks. A Lite Ad does not include Assist.

Each eligible ad comes with a set number of uses, which SEEK calls “Assist Credits”. One AI Pre-screen invitation uses one. AI Pre-screen invites an applicant to answer set screening questions in a conversation guided by AI. The candidate can type or speak. If they type, you receive their answers as typed. If they speak, you receive a written summary that the candidate has confirmed. You can send one AI Pre-screen invitation per candidate for each job ad. The use is counted when you send the invitation, even if the candidate never finishes.

Assist can also handle reference checks for you. Each check asks for up to two references for one candidate you select. You cannot buy AI Pre-screen or reference checks on their own. Both come only with the Assist bundle.

Treat every score as a draft. AI results may contain errors or be incomplete. Under SEEK’s terms you must not rely on them in place of your own assessment. Before you act on a ranking, have a person read the application.

SEEK offers Assist on its employer sites in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.

SEEK recommends up to 100 candidates from its database for each job ad. These are people who did not apply, which Assist does not cover. The number depends on details such as the role title and location. Talent Search is a separate product. Basic Talent Search lets you search and connect with a limited number of candidates each month for free. Premium Talent Search is tailored to each hirer’s needs. Ask SEEK’s sales team for a price. SEEK tells a candidate whenever a hirer connects with them.

You decide, candidates can turn down the AI Pre-screen, and SEEK audits its AI

Your team makes every hiring decision

Under SEEK’s terms you alone decide whether to shortlist, pre-screen, interview, hire or reject. SEEK’s services make no final decision to shortlist, interview or hire anyone. The score and the shortlist are advice.

Candidates can turn down the AI Pre-screen

Completing an AI Pre-screen is optional for the candidate. SEEK also emails the candidate when you send an invitation.

SEEK runs fairness checks on its AI

SEEK runs regular fairness audits of its AI. The method is informed by international standards. Outside auditors have also checked it. SEEK holds ISO 42001 certification, an international standard for how a company manages its AI.

It covers one ad’s applicants, and SEEK can reuse what it produces

These are the terms on SEEK’s Australian employer site. New Zealand’s AI Pre-screen terms use the Australian clauses, with some changes. Ask SEEK which terms apply to you.

It works only on people who applied to that ad

SEEK’s terms allow Assist only for candidates who applied to the specific job ad. People who applied through another job board, a referral or your own careers page are outside it.

It runs inside SEEK, not inside a recruitment system

The terms bar access to Assist through a recruitment software provider or applicant tracking system. If you use one, only people who applied through the route SEEK calls “Optimised Apply” qualify. They appear in the “Candidate Management” screen, where SEEK lists your applicants.

You cannot take the voice recordings with you

The terms bar you from extracting voice recordings or raw transcripts from Assist. The written summary of a spoken AI Pre-screen may not be word for word. You also cannot share Assist results with outside parties. The exception is where your own hiring process for that role needs it.

SEEK can keep what Assist produces and reuse it

The Product Terms let SEEK keep information generated through Assist. SEEK can reuse it for the candidate’s future applications and for other products. The Advertising Terms give SEEK a licence to use what the terms call “Advertiser Data”. The licence never ends and you cannot take it back. SEEK can also use data about how you use its sites to train and test its AI. SEEK’s AI models keep learning from all searches, applications, career moves and skill matches.

SEEK gives no promise that the scores are right

SEEK does not promise that any Assist result is accurate. You must not use a result in a way that breaks privacy, discrimination or equal opportunity law. That applies in every country where you operate. That duty sits with you.

SEEK can change Assist at any time

The Product Terms let SEEK add, change or retire Assist features whenever it chooses. The Advertising Terms promise 30 days’ notice of changes that would put you at a real disadvantage.

Assist is a fixed-fee add-on, and its uses expire after 180 days

You pay for Assist as an add-on at a fixed fee. The uses last 180 days from purchase. SEEK does not refund unused ones. If you go over your limit, SEEK may charge the extra use at its standard rates. You pay for what SEEK agrees to provide whether or not you use it fully. Invoices fall due within 14 days unless your agreement says otherwise.

Your applications and Assist results stay in your account for three years. SEEK may end your access for a reason other than fraud or dishonest conduct. If so, it forwards your stored applications to the email address you name within 20 business days. If the agreement ends early, a small business gets back what it paid for anything not yet received. It gets no refund when SEEK ends the agreement under the terms.

The terms cap the most SEEK will pay a small business if something goes wrong. The cap is the greater of $1,000 or six times the fees paid in the month before. Fraud and wilful misconduct are excluded from the cap. For other customers, SEEK and its staff are not liable in any way under the terms. That covers loss or damage from using its products and services.

Eight questions for SEEK

  1. What does Assist cost for our ad type? What do we pay above our allowance? Good answer: A fixed fee and a set number of uses for each ad. A named rate or a cap above that, on our order.
  2. Which country’s terms apply to us, and do we count as a small business under them? Good answer: A written answer that names the terms, points to what differs and says whether we are a small business.
  3. Can we read the latest external fairness audit and the method behind it? Good answer: A report with the date, the auditor’s name and results for groups of candidates.
  4. Can you leave our candidates’ Assist results out of reuse and model learning? Good answer: Yes, in writing, for our account and for results you already hold.
  5. Which of our applicants can Assist screen if we also use a recruitment system? Good answer: Every applicant, or a written list of the routes that count.
  6. How do we get scores, summaries and reference answers out when we leave? Good answer: A stated file format and a time window, in the contract.
  7. What do candidates see about the AI screening, and what can they do instead? Good answer: Plain wording we can edit, and a route to a person that does not count against them.
  8. Will you tell us before you remove an Assist feature we use, and refund unused uses? Good answer: Written notice in advance, and a refund or credit for the unused balance.

Alternatives to SEEK

If SEEK Assist is not the right fit, look at LinkedIn Recruiter, Workable, Indeed Smart Sourcing and Naukri Resdex. You can also keep advertising on SEEK and screen applicants yourself.

Each one also ranks or shortlists candidates. LinkedIn Hiring Assistant is an AI assistant inside LinkedIn Recruiter. LinkedIn sells it as an add-on to a Recruiter contract. Workable Agent scores applicants against the job criteria inside Workable’s applicant tracking system. You can add it to any plan and you pay for it in “AI credits”, which are prepaid units. Scoring one applicant uses one. Indeed Smart Sourcing gives you a shortlist of candidates matched to your job. In India, the Professional plan costs ₹33,000 a month or ₹3,15,000 a year. It includes 100 contacts a month, and extra contacts cost ₹330 each. Naukri Resdex Enterprise matches a posted job against CVs in Naukri’s database and recommends candidates. You contact Naukri to turn it on. It ranks profiles by the recruiter’s own past actions.
