LinkedIn Recruiter
LinkedIn Recruiter is the paid tool recruiters use to search LinkedIn and message people who have not applied. Hiring Assistant is an AI add-on that finds people, ranks applicants and writes messages. Recruiter pricing varies with company size and the number of paid users. The plan for recruiting teams is sold on an agreement of one year or longer.
Recruiter finds people and Hiring Assistant adds AI, at a price set by contract
Recruiter lets recruiters search the LinkedIn network of more than a billion members and message them. Hiring Assistant adds AI that finds people, ranks applicants and drafts messages. Recruiters make the hiring decisions.
You hire people who have not applied. You want AI help inside LinkedIn Recruiter, not in a separate tool. You can sign an agreement of a year or longer.
You cannot accept a contract that cannot be cancelled. You need one fixed list price, because Recruiter has no single standard price. You need Hiring Assistant today, because LinkedIn is rolling it out gradually.
Recruiter is usually bought per paid user. Hiring Assistant is an add-on with three tiers that set monthly limits for each licence. Public US government orders show first-year prices of about $19,700 to $25,600 a seat.
What Recruiter and Hiring Assistant do for a recruiter
Recruiter is where a recruiter finds people. They describe the person they want in ordinary words. They can also paste a job description. Recruiter then fills in the search filters. They can switch to manual search with more than 40 filters and keywords. Each paid user can send up to 150 messages a month. LinkedIn calls them InMail. Recruiter connects to your applicant tracking system (ATS), your candidate contact list and your email.
Hiring Assistant is the AI add-on. A recruiter starts a project from a job description, an ideal candidate’s name, a job post link or a file. A project can hold up to 35 requirements, and the recruiter can edit them. Hiring Assistant finds people on LinkedIn. Each one comes with a summary of why they fit. It marks every requirement as met, partly met or not met. It uses the recruiter’s feedback to find new people. Feedback applies to that role and that recruiter. Hiring Assistant can also carry preferences forward from earlier projects for similar roles.
RSC+ is LinkedIn’s link between Recruiter and your ATS. Once it is on, Hiring Assistant assesses applicants from LinkedIn and your ATS together against the same requirements. LinkedIn calls a project tied to an open job in your ATS a Connected Project. In one, a recruiter can move applicants between ATS stages from inside Recruiter. Hiring Assistant puts the best fits first and tags some “Top Applicant” or “Not a Fit”. A recruiter can save, reject or message each applicant. An admin can turn applicant assessment on or off for the whole contract.
Hiring Assistant writes a personal message for each person from the job details and their profile. It sends follow-ups when nobody replies. It can message up to 25 people at once, and candidates see that the message comes from Hiring Assistant. It also prescreens. That means it asks candidates screening questions once they accept a message. It asks their permission first. Prescreening works in English only. Hiring Assistant makes no automatic decisions and will not screen out applicants. Recruiters make the hiring decisions.
Results from LinkedIn and its customers
Recruiters using Hiring Assistant review 81% fewer profiles to find a qualified match. InMail acceptance is 66% higher than with traditional sourcing. InMail acceptance is the share of messaged people who accept the message.
| Customer | Result with Hiring Assistant |
|---|---|
| Siemens | Sourcing time fell by at least half, according to a talent acquisition partner. |
| Roquette, 10,000+ employees | At least one hour a day saved on manual sourcing and search planning. |
| Biocon Biologics, 5,500 employees | Three to five hours saved on each role search. |
| MediaNews Group, 1,001 to 5,000 employees | Recruiters estimate a 10% cut in the time they spend sourcing. |
| NES Fircroft, 3,000+ employees | 65% of people sourced with Hiring Assistant accepted the LinkedIn message, against 39% of people sourced by hand. |
| Risus Talent Partners, 11 to 50 employees | 12 placements credited to Hiring Assistant. A new project takes 5 to 10 minutes to set up. |
Who it suits, and who needs a different plan
You hire people who have not applied
Recruiter is built for finding people who have not applied. Its AI also assesses the people who did.
You run Greenhouse, Workday or another system on LinkedIn’s list
RSC+ works with Greenhouse, iCIMS, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Teamtailor, Workable, Workday, Jobylon, Tracker and Zoho. RSC+ lets Hiring Assistant assess applicants from LinkedIn and your system together.
You recruit for other companies
Recruiter Corporate is for recruiting the buyer’s own employees and consultants, and those of its affiliates. A staffing or recruiting firm needs Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+). Hiring Assistant is an add-on to both.
You hire in the EU
Instant outreach cannot be switched on for a project whose location includes an EU region. GDPR is the EU data protection law. Each customer is responsible for its own GDPR compliance.
Where it stops, from availability to your data
Microsoft bought LinkedIn in December 2016. Hiring Assistant uses OpenAI models through Microsoft’s cloud to read the job and run searches. Ireland’s data regulator announced fines of €310 million on LinkedIn Ireland. The fines were over its use of members’ data for behavioural analysis and targeted advertising.
Hiring Assistant may not be open to your account yet
LinkedIn is rolling out Hiring Assistant gradually. A customer may not have access yet. Hiring Assistant 2 starts rolling out in early November. Voice prescreening is open to select customers now. It is coming in Hiring Assistant 2, with enhanced outreach and interview scheduling.
The contract cannot be cancelled, and LinkedIn can change the service
Services bought on an order form cannot be cancelled and are not refunded. One exception applies. If LinkedIn breaks the contract and does not fix it, you can end the order. LinkedIn then refunds the unused part of what you prepaid. Each side’s liability is capped at the fees paid or payable during the term. LinkedIn may update or discontinue any part of a service. It may end Hiring Assistant if your Recruiter subscription lapses or you go over your licence count.
Your inputs may train LinkedIn’s own AI later
LinkedIn’s data is not stored or used to train outside AI models, OpenAI included. It may use input data in future to train its own models. Your inputs and the answers are kept beyond the session. Data from ATS links sits in LinkedIn’s US data centres. LinkedIn may review prescreening conversations to improve the product.
Some people cannot be sent to your hiring system
Some members use a profile setting that stops their information going to third parties. LinkedIn will not let their details be exported to your ATS or your candidate contact list.
Tying projects to your ATS has conditions
Connected Projects are open to a subset of customers. Your Recruiter language must be English and your ATS must support RSC+. One job in your ATS can connect to only one such project at a time. Syncing stages both ways is coming soon.
Fairness checks
Hiring Assistant does not accept requirements that include protected characteristics. It does not assess people on name, age, gender identity, race, religion, sex or disability. LinkedIn runs fairness and bias reviews on each model. It audits the models in its products internally on a recurring basis.
What it costs, and what happens when you leave
Public US government orders show what some buyers paid. A Department of Defense order signed in 2019 paid $102,335.76 for four Recruiter seats in the first year. That is about $25,600 a seat. An order signed in June 2024 paid $59,239.56 for three licences in the first year. That is about $19,700 a licence. It would reach $88,859.34 if every option were used. A Department of Justice order signed on 30 September 2026 for fiscal year 2026 Recruiter licences totals $295,819.12.
Hiring Assistant comes in three tiers. Each licence has monthly limits on how many people it can find and how many applicants it can assess. Recruiter Corporate is for companies hiring for themselves. RPS+ is for staffing and recruiting firms. Your order form sets the final limits.
| Tier | Corporate, people found a month | Corporate, applicants assessed a month | RPS+, people found a month | RPS+, applicants assessed a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 200 | 3,500 | 150 | 4,500 |
| Tier 2 | 800 | 9,000 | 600 | 15,000 |
| Tier 3 | 1,500 | 25,000 | 1,500 | 50,000 |
You cannot hold more Hiring Assistant licences than Recruiter licences. At the monthly limit, Hiring Assistant stops finding or assessing people for that recruiter. Unused allowance does not roll over. A licence started mid-month gets the full limit for that part month. A person uses the finding limit only when they meet the requirements and are saved to the pipeline. Instant outreach messages use the same allowance as messages a recruiter sends by hand.
When the contract ends, LinkedIn returns your personal data or securely destroys it, whichever you choose. It may remove content you uploaded after termination. You can remove an ATS link and purge the data it brought in. Improvements LinkedIn’s systems learned from deleted data stay.
You could also find and screen people with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Eight questions to put to LinkedIn
- Which Hiring Assistant tier do you advise for our hiring, and what does each tier cost? Good answer: A price for every tier in the order form, with the monthly limits written beside it.
- Is Hiring Assistant open to our account today? If not, on what date will it be? Good answer: A start date in the order form, and no payment for it until it is live.
- What happens to an applicant that Hiring Assistant marks “Not a Fit”? Does a recruiter see every one before anyone is closed? Good answer: Every one stays visible to a recruiter, and none is rejected without a person.
- Prescreening cannot be switched off. Who sees what candidates answer, and for how long? Good answer: A named list of who sees answers and a stated time they are kept.
- Will you stop reviewing our candidates’ prescreening conversations to improve your product? Good answer: Yes, written into the order form.
- Will you confirm in the contract that our job descriptions, feedback and candidate data never train your own models? Good answer: A written promise that covers today and the future, or an opt-out we control.
- Can you give us a bias report on Hiring Assistant from an outside auditor? Good answer: A full report that we can show a regulator or a candidate.
- How were the 81% and 66% figures measured, and against what? Good answer: A named comparison group, a time period and the number of customers.
Alternatives to LinkedIn Recruiter
SeekOut, Gem and hireEZ are the alternatives, along with Recruiter without the Hiring Assistant add-on, or buying nothing.
SeekOut searches about one billion public profiles and your ATS. Its self-serve plan, Sourcing Core, costs $149 a month paid yearly or $179 a month paid monthly. It comes with a 14-day free trial. Higher tiers are custom priced and invoiced yearly in advance. Those fees cannot be cancelled. The subscription renews for a year unless one side gives 30 days’ notice. SeekOut’s AI screening, called Sam, holds a voice interview of 15 to 20 minutes with each candidate. Sam costs about $2 for each completed interview. Recruiters can check a candidate’s government ID. Candidates are never auto-rejected.
Gem’s AI Sourcing Agent searches more than 800 million profiles and your past candidates. Gem’s Application Review scores and ranks every applicant against the recruiter’s criteria, with a plain-language reason for each score. In Application Review, a recruiter makes every advance or reject decision. Gem also sells its own applicant tracking system. Its browser add-on saves profiles from LinkedIn and more than 20 other sites with one click.
hireEZ’s EZ Agent searches more than a billion profiles on 45 or more platforms. It gives the reason for each name. It sits on top of your ATS. Every candidate gets a screening conversation by voice or chat using your questions, and you decide who moves forward.
Buying nothing means no contract that cannot be cancelled and no settings to watch. The guide to AI sourcing and screening covers what the rest of the market offers.
