LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is a library of courses for your people. It is not a traditional learning management system. LinkedIn tracks plays and hours, and the learner is responsible for validating completion and understanding. Your own learning system holds the course record only through a connection. LinkedIn Learning for Teams costs $379.88 per seat each year.

In one line

A library of ready-made courses with an AI coach and AI role play. Learners watch on linkedin.com.

Buy it if

You want one library of courses for everyone. You run Workday or another learning system that LinkedIn connects to. Your managers want to practise hard conversations.

Do not buy it if

You need one system that holds your own courses, tests and certificates. You need SCORM files to load courses elsewhere. You need proof of understanding for every course.

Price

$379.88 per seat each year on the Teams plan. The Small Teams plan covers 20 or fewer learners. Ask LinkedIn for the price at your headcount.

LinkedIn Learning supplies the courses and tracks viewing, and learners validate their own understanding

LinkedIn Learning gives employees unlimited access to a library of courses, certifications and personalised learning. The business edition allows learning that employees choose and learning that managers assign. Managers can assign courses to their team members.

LinkedIn’s own pages give different library sizes. Its product overview puts the library at over 25,000 courses. Its plan comparison gives 24,000 plus in one place and 25,000 plus in its feature list. It gives 22,000 plus for the Teams plan. Its Teams product page puts it at 18,000 plus. Ask which number applies to your plan.

LinkedIn Learning is not a traditional learning management system, or LMS. Learners watch courses on linkedin.com or in the LinkedIn Learning mobile app. LinkedIn Learning does not support SCORM, the common file format for e-learning courses. The content stays hosted and viewed on linkedin.com.

You can still upload your own videos and documents and build learning paths. Progress on your own videos counts as learning hours based on the video’s length. Progress on your own documents counts as the share of pages a learner has viewed.

LinkedIn Learning has its own reports. Admins can generate learner reports with details such as name, job title and department. A reporting feed for your IT team gives course completions, hours viewed and days active, by person, group or account. Your own LMS gets the course record through a connection. AICC and xAPI are two standard ways for learning products to send records to each other. Through AICC, LinkedIn Learning sends progress from 0 to 100% back to your LMS. It also sends a complete or incomplete status. Through xAPI, it reports completions back whether the learner started from your LMS or directly on LinkedIn Learning.

Learners still log in to LinkedIn Learning. With AICC, your LMS holds the course record. The learner still logs in to LinkedIn Learning to watch the content. AICC is not a standard for logging in.

The AI coach and AI curation work only with LinkedIn’s own courses. AI-powered coaching does not support custom content that your admins or other providers upload. AI-assisted curation recommends only content produced by LinkedIn Learning. Admins can switch off coaching, role play and curation separately in admin settings. Turning off coaching does not turn off role play.

Role play, wide choice and tidy data paperwork count in its favour

Managers can practise hard talks with an AI character

A learner describes a conversation in plain words. The AI builds the scenario. The learner can edit it. After the session, the AI gives feedback. It covers things such as clear communication, empathy and reaching the scenario’s goals. Sutter Health uses role play in every performance review cycle. It also uses it in its Courageous Conversations course.

Learners get many formats, and certificates cost nothing extra

The courses come as video, audio and text. They also include live office hours and short lessons. Courses come in 7 native languages. Subtitles cover 46. More than 2,000 courses prepare people for over 120 exams. Those exams span four types of credential. A Certificate of Completion costs nothing extra for content in the subscription.

Customers report that people log in

Keyloop reports that 93% of licences are activated. The peer median is 74%. ServiceTitan reports that every employee activated a licence. It also reports that the average employee watches more than five videos a month. Egen reports that 70% of its people log in monthly. These come from LinkedIn’s own customer stories. Each result belongs to that customer.

AI use falls under the data agreement you sign

LinkedIn’s SOC 2 report covers LinkedIn Learning. It is an independent security audit. Enterprise learners’ AI inputs and responses count as customer personal data. The Data Processing Agreement covers this. It sets LinkedIn’s duties for your data. LinkedIn does not use enterprise learner inputs from its AI learning features to train content-generating AI models.

Where it stops on records, certificates and AI

A completion means the videos played

LinkedIn Learning is not accredited. It can track when a course is played, and the learner is responsible for validating completion and understanding. A Certificate of Completion needs no assessment or exercise files. LinkedIn Learning generates it when it detects that all the videos in a course or path are complete. If an auditor needs proof that someone understood a course, plan that proof outside LinkedIn Learning.

Your own content gets no certificate

Certificates of Completion are not provided for custom learning paths, custom content and collections. A collection is a set of courses an admin groups together. Progress on your own documents counts only the share of pages viewed.

Learning Plans carry no reporting

A Learning Plan is an AI-built plan of courses tied to a learner’s career goals. Reporting is not available for Learning Plans. They turn off when Career Goals are switched off in the admin portal.

The AI coach has limits on topics and demand

Outside leadership, professional and career topics, AI-powered coaching may pull general insights from OpenAI before it recommends a course. Capacity is limited, so learners may get an error message when demand is high. Role play is capped at 20 sessions a day, 10 an hour and 5 every 5 minutes. LinkedIn stores learner AI conversations for one year. Admins can opt out, but that deletes all past conversation data for good.

Your IT team has work to do

Org Sync is a daily, weekly or monthly file that keeps employee details current in LinkedIn Learning. Your IT team must enable it. LinkedIn’s Technical Consulting team assists with the file set-up. Admin functions are not available in the mobile apps, so admins use a desktop. LinkedIn Learning shares infrastructure with linkedin.com. Blocking linkedin.com can break it, and LinkedIn does not support blocking.

A US privacy claim

On 20 October 2025 a US court refused to dismiss a proposed class action over LinkedIn’s video pages. The plaintiff alleges LinkedIn used the Facebook Tracking Pixel on its LinkedIn Learning video platform. The alleged aim was to send users’ information to Meta and Adobe. The claim is under the Video Privacy Protection Act. These are allegations. Raise them with whoever handles privacy.

LinkedIn’s own pages differ on role play. Its Q1 2026 product update lets organisations create role play scenarios from their own frameworks and best practices. Its AI transparency page puts customising and promoting scenarios on Career Hub only. Its Wave 2 update makes creating new scenarios exclusive to LinkedIn Learning Hub customers. Learning Hub brings courses from your LMS and content partners into LinkedIn Learning. Ask which plan you need.

It suits you if a system you already run can take its records

If you run Workday, completions can land there

LinkedIn Learning sends a learner’s completion of courses, paths and curated videos to Workday by xAPI. Curated videos are the ones an admin picks. Sutter Health reports that LinkedIn Learning courses appear in Workday’s catalogue and that completions sit in Workday transcripts. A sync with Workday’s HR system can bring in your structure of jobs. It can also bring in employee title, manager, team, skills and career goals. LinkedIn puts set-up at about 60 to 90 minutes. For customers of both, LinkedIn Learning activity is reported as skill development. It appears in the Workday Skills Cloud, Workday’s record of skills.

If you run another learning system, check the list of partners

LinkedIn has over 25 LMS partners with integration guides. Guides exist for Cornerstone, Docebo, Degreed, Oracle Learning Cloud, HiBob and Darwinbox. SAP SuccessFactors can feed learner details through Org Sync. The partner connections load LinkedIn Learning courses into your LMS and send progress and completion back. Any LMS that accepts standard AICC packages can use the AICC route.

If you buy LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft 365 Copilot, you get a Learning Agent

The Learning Agent is available to joint customers of LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft 365 Copilot. It gives access to the full library of 24,000 plus courses. More than 1,600 of them are on AI. It also has 350 plus interactive role play simulations.

Customers run from under 500 people to 80,000

Aktana has up to 500 employees. Keyloop and Accordion have 1,000 to 5,000. Sutter Health has a team of 80,000 employees, clinicians and physicians. The Small Teams plan is for 20 or fewer learners and includes a basic view of team learning progress.

It costs $379.88 per seat each year, and purchases are non-cancellable

LinkedIn Learning for Teams costs $379.88 per seat each year. The Small Teams plan allows up to 20 learning accounts. Many existing customers gain access to Career Hub automatically as part of their current plan. Career Hub lets employees show interest in internal roles to internal recruiters. It also compares the fastest-growing skills with gaps in your organisation.

One seat equals one customer user. A seat counts as used when the user registers. In each 12-month term a customer may reassign 10 seats or 25% of the seats it bought, whichever is greater. Depending on the service bought, a customer user must be a current employee. The user may instead be an authorised payroll contractor, a student or a library patron.

Once you sign, you pay for the term. Purchases are non-cancellable, and payment is non-refundable except in the cases the agreement sets out. Either side may end the agreement or an order form for a serious breach left unfixed after 30 days’ notice. If you end it for LinkedIn’s breach, LinkedIn refunds a pro-rata, or proportional, share of pre-paid fees.

LinkedIn returns your personal data or destroys it, at your choice, unless the law prevents it. This applies on termination or reasonable request. After termination LinkedIn may remove or discard the content you uploaded. Removing a learner removes their data and learner reports, but aggregate reports are not recalculated.

You could also run training steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

What to ask LinkedIn before you sign

  1. How many courses does my plan include today? Good answer: One figure, written into the order form with the plan named.
  2. Which of your LMS integrations matches my system, and who switches it on? Good answer: A named guide and a date your IT team can book.
  3. How do I prove a learner understood a compliance course? Good answer: A test result in my own records, not only a video completion.
  4. Can we write our own role play scenarios on my plan, or only on Learning Hub or Career Hub? Good answer: A written yes for the plan I would buy.
  5. What does the Small Teams plan cost, and what does it include? Good answer: A written price per learner and a list of features.
  6. What does your Technical Consulting team do in an Org Sync set-up, and is it free? Good answer: A named scope in the order form, with no extra fee.
  7. What is the price per seat at my headcount, and for how long? Good answer: One written price and the term length.
  8. Do learners keep their certificates if we leave? Good answer: A written yes, or a way to export them first.
  9. Which tracking tools run on your video pages today? Good answer: A written list, with who receives the data.

Alternatives to LinkedIn Learning, including buying an LMS first

If you need a system that holds your courses and records, look at Docebo or TalentLMS. For technology skills, look at Pluralsight. For managers who practise hard conversations, look at Risely’s Merlin. Buying an LMS first is a fifth route.

Docebo is an AI-powered learning platform, or LMS. Its main audience is mid-market to large enterprises with 250 to 100,000 plus users. Docebo prices on a quote, and a LinkedIn Learning integration guide for Docebo exists. TalentLMS is an LMS used to train teams. Its Core plan for 1 to 40 users is $119 a month. A free plan covers 5 users and 10 courses. TalentLMS can embed LinkedIn Learning courses.

Pluralsight Skills is a technology skill development platform with video courses and labs. Skills is not an LMS built to house content. Its Enterprise plan for teams of 20 plus is priced on request.

If role play is why you are looking at LinkedIn Learning, note its limits. It caps role play at 20 sessions a day. Writing your own scenarios depends on your plan. Merlin is Risely’s AI coach. In role play, Merlin plays the other person, such as a defensive direct report or a sceptical VP. The manager practises their approach before the real conversation. Merlin also works through scenarios such as a team member saying they are thinking about quitting. Merlin does not deliver courses or keep completion records.

Buying an LMS first is a real choice if what you need is a records system. LinkedIn Learning is not a traditional LMS. TalentLMS can embed LinkedIn Learning courses, so you can add the library later. The Small Teams plan covers 20 or fewer learners if you want a smaller plan. Our market guide weighs every route.

Sources and method Everything said about LinkedIn Learning here comes from several sources. These are LinkedIn’s own product, help centre, customer story and legal pages. They also include Microsoft Learn’s LinkedIn Learning documentation and one public US court order. What LinkedIn publishes about its own product is taken as its description of that product.
