Pluralsight Skills teaches and measures tech skills
Pluralsight Skills is built for technical teams. It offers video courses, labs and skill scores. It is a tech skill development platform and not an LMS built to house content. That decides what you buy it for. The Teams plan, for 2 to 20 people, carries a price of $399. The Enterprise plan has no public price.
A platform for building and measuring tech skills. It runs video courses and hands-on labs, and it scores each learner.
You employ engineers, analysts or security staff. You want a measure of their skill, not only of attendance. You run a separate learning management system, or LMS, that houses the rest of your training.
Most of your training is not about technology. You need one system to house your own courses. You want a published price for a team of more than 20.
The Teams plan carries $399 with the label “/month per user, billed annually”. The Enterprise plan reads “Contact sales for pricing”.
Pluralsight Skills builds and measures tech skills, beside your LMS
Pluralsight Skills is a tech skills platform for measuring and developing skills. Content comes as video courses, labs and hands-on practice environments. Pluralsight designs it to keep teams up to date on current technologies and frameworks. Skills is not built to house content, so your own courses need a home somewhere else.
An admin builds a channel. A channel holds courses, labs, paths and external links. Pluralsight advises admins to put must-watch content in it. Admins assign learners one by one, by team or through APIs. A priority adds a time range or a calendar deadline. The Enterprise plan adds custom cloud practice environments, a dedicated account team and flexible payment options to what Teams includes.
Two scores measure skill. Skill IQ Discovery compares a learner with peers who took the same assessment. It gives a score from 0 to 300. Skill IQ Verified checks proficiency against an expert-defined standard. Neither learners nor leaders are told the cut score of a Skill IQ Verified assessment. Role IQ lets leaders assign any role to one or more learners. It is part of the AI + Data, Security + Cloud and Enterprise plans.
Iris is an AI assistant that helps learners find content and map a learning journey. It uses an outside AI model and Pluralsight’s search to return content in a conversation. A help article puts Iris on automatically for most plans. An admin who wants it off contacts the account team or Support. The Iris FAQ says a company opts in to Iris through its Customer Success Manager or a support request. Ask which applies to your plan. The Pluralsight AI MCP is a separate link. It connects a customer’s own AI tool to Pluralsight to find content, surface analytics and create learning plans. A help article adds that it can create and update channels and assign a team to one. The October 2026 press release calls MCP access read-only. Ask which of the two is right.
Skills can integrate with SumTotal, SuccessFactors, Cornerstone, Absorb and Degreed. API access is available on team plans. Single sign-on with automatic licence assignment gives new users a licence when they first sign in. Since November 2022, a Workday integration puts Skills content and course completion inside Workday Cloud Connect for Learning. Since January 2023, Skills can use Workday or another HR system’s structure to set up Pluralsight teams. See our market guide for where Pluralsight sits among the learning products.
Customers report faster fixes, higher skill scores and quicker onboarding
Most reported results measure technical skill
Arcadis reports a 40% increase in tech proficiency from Pluralsight Skills. BMO reports a 202% increase in expert-level tech skills, measured with Skill IQ. Innova Solutions reports 54 certifications in three weeks and a 40% improvement in proficiency. More than 1,300 Sage engineers learn new skills every week. Sage reports that 60% of its team members do more than the recommended courses. These results fit the way Pluralsight measures skill.
Three results use a business measure
Sage reports an 82% reduction in the time to address security vulnerabilities since partnering with Pluralsight. Coppel reports a 70% reduction in the time needed to upskill employees. CSAM, a healthcare software company with 230 employees, reports a 200% increase in onboarding speed. CSAM also reports 50% savings compared with in-person training. Ask Pluralsight how each customer measured its result.
Two results come from staff themselves or from use
Saab reports that 76% of employees say their work quality is higher. WEX moved its tech organisation from 300 to 1,500 Pluralsight users. WEX reports annual tech team engagement above 70%, against a 60% benchmark. Ask Pluralsight how WEX counts engagement and what the benchmark covers.
It tests skill, tracks certifications and costs nothing extra for its AI
Suggestions follow what the learner got wrong
A Skill IQ Discovery test leads to learning tips. The tips follow the questions the learner missed. Leaders can see a learner’s percentile in certain analytics. That is more than a head count of who came.
Leaders can chase expiring certifications
Learners add their certifications to a profile. Certification analytics show which are active and which have expired. Leaders can remind learners to update those that expired or will soon. The learner reports the expiry date. Ask them to keep it right, so the list stays true.
Learners get a certificate for continuing education
A learner with 100% completion of a video course can make one. Pluralsight advises that it can be submitted as proof of continuing education units or continuing professional education to various organisations. Check that the learner’s professional body accepts it.
The AI assistant costs nothing extra
Iris is the AI assistant. Pluralsight pays all costs of Iris usage. Managers and admins cannot see their team’s questions and chats with Iris. The Pluralsight AI MCP is available at no additional cost. All customers have access. Skill IQ Suite and the redesigned Analytics cost nothing more.
It suits employers with technical teams and an LMS already in place
You employ engineers, analysts or security staff and need to show their skills are rising
Pluralsight designs its content to keep teams up to date on current technologies and frameworks. The skill scores give a leader a measure to report.
A separate LMS holds your other training
Skills can integrate with SumTotal, SuccessFactors, Cornerstone, Absorb and Degreed. Its Professional Services team can help integrate with other LMS products, depending on the product. Pluralsight reports that completions and Skill IQ results flow back to learner records in Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Cornerstone. Saab reports that Pluralsight was integrated into its learning management system.
The Teams plan stops at 20 people, and Enterprise is by quote
The Teams plan is for teams of 2 to 20. The Enterprise plan is for 20 or more and has no public price. Customers range from CSAM at 230 employees to Morgan Stanley at 80,000 and Coppel at over 120,000. A team of 10 or fewer can start a trial on the Teams plan.
Completion can mislead, and the mobile and language gaps are real
Completion can look full when little was watched
A learner can click through a course and show full completion in Content analytics with very little view time. Pluralsight warns of this. View time for external videos or sites is not recorded in channel analytics. Leader analytics calculate viewing and completion in UTC, a world standard time. Dates can differ from what the learner sees. Course progress is the duration of completed tasks divided by the duration of mandatory tasks. It measures time, not understanding. Read completion as a prompt to look closer. Do not read it as proof of learning.
Managers see more than learners may expect
Admins and team managers can see a learner’s activity and course history even when the learner’s profile is private. A learner’s personal skill analysis is visible only to that learner. Average skill score data needs five unique user scores before it appears. A team under five learners sees no average. Tell staff what you can see before you switch it on.
The phone app leaves out the admin tools
The iOS and Android apps play video courses. They download courses for offline viewing. They also include channels, paths, Skill IQ Discovery and learning checks. Analytics, plan and team management, leaders’ priorities and Role IQ for leaders are not on the apps. Pluralsight TV apps are no longer supported. Iris is available only in a web browser.
Labs, slides and the platform stay in English
AI-translated courses exist in French (Canada), French (France), German and Spanish. For AI-translated courses, assessments, labs, slides and the platform stay in English. Skill IQ Verified assessments are available in English, Japanese, Spanish, French, Chinese and German. They are machine translated, and the English version is authoritative.
Retired courses can disappear
Retired content is no longer supported or maintained and may be removed without warning. Pluralsight advises admins not to build curricula from it. Replacing retired content in a channel lowers the channel completion rate for learners who finished the old version.
Two-step login depends on how staff sign in
Multi-factor authentication is not available for plans using single sign-on or LTI integrations. LTI is a standard for opening one learning tool inside another. Where it is available, it is optional and set by individual users. It is not enforced at the plan level. Ask your security lead whether that is enough.
Iris carries the vendor’s own cautions
Pluralsight warns users not to enter sensitive personal data into Iris. It warns that chat logs may be used for product enhancements and that recommendations may be inaccurate. Iris sends the user’s message text and chat history, encrypted, to an outside AI provider. Iris messages are kept until the learner asks for deletion. The provider does not train on input data. Iris can only be activated for the entire plan.
Under Pluralsight’s data processing agreement, the production environment is in the Amazon Web Services US-West-2 Region. Pluralsight’s trust page adds that data is replicated across multiple availability zones and regions. Under the same agreement, the platform may not support retention or extraction of data by the customer’s third-party software. Pluralsight asks you to allow 30 days for a deletion request, and large or complex requests may take longer. Deletions are permanent and cannot be undone. Ask where copies of your staff data are held and how you would take them out.
Pluralsight has changed owner, cut staff and shut down a platform it bought, all since 2020. Treat a long contract with that in mind. In December 2020 Vista Equity Partners agreed to buy all Pluralsight shares. The all-cash deal was valued at about $3.5 billion. Pluralsight closed its acquisition of A Cloud Guru in July 2021. In December 2022 a note from the CEO said Pluralsight was restructuring and reducing its team by roughly 20%. In August 2024 Pluralsight announced that a group of existing lenders would own 100% of the company. Funds managed by Blue Owl Capital lead that group. Erin Gajdalo was named CEO on 12 November 2024. The A Cloud Guru platform began its final shutdown on 4 November 2025. Migrated accounts and data are now accessed from Pluralsight. Ask in writing what happens to your order if Pluralsight retires a product or changes owner again.
Teams carries $399, Enterprise has no public price, and renewal can be automatic
The Teams plan is for teams of 2 to 20. It carries $399 with the label “/month per user, billed annually”. Confirm the unit in writing before you plan a budget. The Enterprise plan is labelled “For teams 20+” and reads “Contact sales for pricing”. A team of exactly 20 fits both labels. Pluralsight offers volume discounts based on the number of licences bought.
Older prices give a second marker. Upgraded legacy team plans were capped at $565 per licence per year, with equivalents of €565, £465, ₹47399 and R10049. Pluralsight calls these prices accurate in most cases, and official prices come from your account contact.
US government buyers agreed to spend these totals. A Department of Defense award starting in September 2023 covers 257 licences for a total obligation of $99,710.39. A Department of Justice award from March 2018 covers 200 user licences for 1 year of access. Its total obligation is $84,800. A General Services Administration award from September 2019 covers 100 licences for $54,500. A second Defense award from September 2023 covers 1,337 user licences for $498,635.25. Divided by licence count, these work out between about $373 and $545 a licence across each award. That is not a yearly price, so do not read it against the $399 Teams figure. Only the 2018 award is for a one-year term.
Pluralsight sets a minimum for its engaged-user pricing. It asks for a total addressable market of at least 50 users for small and mid-sized businesses. For medium to large enterprises it asks for at least 250 users. Ask what that means for your headcount. A Texas cooperative contract gives a 10.00% discount off list price. It covers the Everything, Security + Cloud and AI + Data plans. The vendor’s quote adds an administrative fee after the discount.
Some items cost extra. Onboarding and Skills strategy are add-ons. After legacy plans moved to Enterprise, several add-ons were folded in and four stay paid. Instructor-led training is an add-on, with access to more than 500 courses across 11 technology domains, in person or online. Data feeds to learning and reporting tools are professional-services add-ons.
Pluralsight’s own pages give four answers on single sign-on. A help article puts it in team plans at no additional cost. The Enterprise page makes setup available at no additional charge to business customers. Pluralsight’s pricing puts it under optional add-on professional services. The plan comparison marks it as an add-on for the AI + Data, Security + Cloud and Enterprise plans. Get the answer for your plan in writing.
Team plans usually have annual contracts, billed annually or quarterly. Multi-year contracts, add-ons and plans over 999 licences go through the account team. Auto-renew is on by default for plans bought or renewed online. A plan on automatic renewal must be cancelled 30 days before the renewal date. Reassigning a revoked licence is limited by your agreement. An account is personal to the learner and cannot be shared. Team plans accept purchase orders, and the estimate is valid to the end of the calendar quarter.
The trial length differs by page. The small-business page offers a 10 day free team trial. A help article gives 14 days. Under that article, the trial converts to a paid plan automatically unless you cancel before it ends. The business FAQ adds that no charge is made at the start of a business trial. A trial can start for 10 or fewer users.
When a contract ends, users can still log in to view and export their complete learning history. They can no longer view paid content. Pluralsight tells admins to export analytics reports before the contract ends, because the data is unavailable afterwards.
You could also run training steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
What to ask before you sign
- Is the $399 on the Teams plan per user per year or per user per month? Good answer: A written unit, a total for our headcount, and the date the quote is valid to.
- Is single sign-on included in our plan, or is it an add-on? Good answer: One written answer for our plan that matches the order form.
- What will you charge at renewal, and when must we give notice? Good answer: A named price or a cap, and a reminder before the 30-day deadline.
- How much of our people’s learning is technology content? Good answer: A count of the courses that fit our roles, from our own list of skills.
- Which add-ons are paid on the plan you are quoting us, and at what price? Good answer: A named list with a price for each one.
- How do completion and Skill IQ results reach our LMS, and who sets that up? Good answer: A named connection to our system, with the set-up cost written down.
- Is Iris on by default for our plan? Can the AI MCP change anything, or only read? Good answer: One written answer for each, matching our order form.
- How do we show that staff really learned the course? Good answer: A report that combines time spent and Skill IQ, not completion alone.
- Where is our staff data held, and what happens to it when the contract ends? Good answer: A named region, a written export and deletion process, and the 30-day timescale.
Alternatives to Pluralsight, including buying nothing
If Pluralsight looks too narrow, look at Docebo or LinkedIn Learning. Buying nothing new is a third route.
Docebo is an AI-powered learning platform, or LMS. Its primary audience is mid-market to large enterprises, 250 to 100,000+ users. Booking.com uses Docebo for employee training and development, compliance training and onboarding. Docebo prices on product tier and active users, and its pricing is custom. Choose it if you need a system that houses your own courses.
LinkedIn Learning offers unlimited access to a library of courses, certifications and personalised learning experiences. LinkedIn answers “Is LinkedIn Learning an LMS?” with No and says it is not a traditional LMS. Its For Teams plan is $379.88 per seat per year. It is an alternative to Pluralsight’s content, not to an LMS. Choose it instead if you want a library of courses rather than a tech skills platform.
Buying nothing new is real if your existing LMS already holds a technology course library. The Teams plan offers a free trial, so you can test with a small group first. For the wider choice, read the learning management systems guide.
