Three things decide whether a person can start, use a shared device or finish. General learning products differ on all three.

Some products need an email address for every person

Go1 requires everyone to log in with an email address. Trakstar lets trainees without an email address have accounts with a username and password. Ask each vendor what a person with no work email uses.

Check that each person on a shared tablet still gets their own record

A Pluralsight account is personal to the learner and cannot be shared. SAP’s mobile app offers multiple user profiles and shared device features to internal users, meaning its customer’s own staff. It does not offer them to external learning users, who are people outside the company.

Offline can mean pages already opened, not a test you can pass

Cypher’s offline mode in its mobile app is off by default. It keeps pages a learner has already visited and PDF documents. Docebo’s Go.Learn app does not support tests and surveys in offline mode.

Prices count people, locations and sites in different ways

If many people join and leave, how a vendor counts them matters as much as the price.

The counting rules differ most. TalentLMS prices by unique users who log in each month. That pricing is available up to 500 users on the Pro plan. EasyLlama bills on peak seat use during the term. Under Absorb’s terms, user counts cannot be decreased during the term. If many people leave, those three rules cost different amounts. TalentLMS and Totara sit in the table below because their counting rules show the risk clearly.

Axonify, Absorb, YOOBIC, Learningbank and Cloud Assess quote after a conversation. Axonify bases its quote on team size, locations and features. YOOBIC bases its quote on the number of stores and the parts you choose. Cloud Assess charges a flat fee based on employees trained.

A training record with no name on it is the failure to check first

A training record with no name on it is the failure to check first. Opus has a shared store profile. It limits the ability to track individual training progress. SkyPrep offers a course link that needs no account. Completions from that link are not tied to a named account. Ask each vendor how one tablet records every person who uses it.

Offline use brings a second failure. A person finishes a lesson with no signal, and the result has to reach the record later. SCORM is the standard file format for e-learning courses. In Totara, a SCORM course finished offline does not show as complete until the app syncs online. Totara also deletes downloaded SCORM activities when a user logs out of the app. That matters on shared devices.
