Opus Training
Opus Training is a training app for brands that run many sites. Staff take short lessons on a phone. A manager can mark a skill as passed in person. Opus is typically priced per location, and per-user pricing is available. Three things shape the deal. They are the plan you buy, how Opus handles SCORM, and what a shared store profile does to your records. SCORM is the standard file format for e-learning courses.
A training app for brands with many sites. It is typically priced per location, with in-person sign-off built in.
Your teams work across many sites and managers coach in person. Opus is built for multi-unit brands with frontline teams in restaurants, hospitality, fitness, car washes, franchise systems and consumer services. Company-owned, franchised and mixed models all run on it. Staff can join by QR code and need no email address to log in.
You want work-account login on one of the first two plans. Opus leaves single sign-on out of them.
If your training is SCORM courses from other suppliers, ask Opus to host them. Opus can host SCORM so completion comes from the package. If staff would share one store profile, ask how each person keeps a record.
Opus is typically priced per location with no seat count. Per-user pricing is available. Opus gives an example invoice of 150 licences at $93.12 each. Premium courses use Credits at $10 each.
Lessons, manager check-ins and reports for each location
Opus combines short digital lessons with in-person check-ins and task-based reminders. It tracks all three automatically. Most courses take 3 to 5 minutes. Staff use the Opus app on iOS or Android, or a shared desktop or kiosk. They join through a text or email invite, or a QR code, and need no email address to log in. Opus delivers training with auto-translation, email-free login and offline access. Ask which lessons work offline.
A manager or trainer can run a check-in in person. They guide the trainee through a skill and mark Pass or Try again. Opus keeps a record of who passed and when. Knowledge Checks add daily quiz questions that help people remember what they learned.
Admins build training by chatting with an AI assistant. It asks questions, proposes a plan and builds a draft. It works from the Opus Library, the team and any files you give it. It never publishes, assigns or deletes without the admin’s OK. The team sees nothing until an admin clicks Publish. Opus tells admins to check facts, policy wording and quiz answers in every draft before they publish. The AI course builder is in the Growth plan. The first plan has a limited version of the content builder.
An admin can upload written procedures, recipes or guides. The AI pulls out the key points and shapes them into short lessons. Opus translates training into more than 100 languages with up to 95% accuracy. Admins can list terms that must never be translated. Ask which plan covers your staff’s languages.
Opus works with over 50 HR, payroll and employee management systems. They include Paychex, Paycor, Paylocity, Personio, SAP SuccessFactors, UKG Pro, UKG Ready and Workday. HR system integration is in the Growth plan. Opus checks the HR system every hour. When a new hire gets a Role there, Opus assigns their training. When the HR system marks someone inactive or on leave, Opus deactivates them and keeps their training history. A CSV upload works in place of a connection.
Every admin already has AI agents in the dashboard. An agent pulls reports, looks up team members and assignments, and drafts training for review. It can run on a schedule, such as a morning summary. It sees only what the admin can see.
Records outlast the people, and a named person plans the rollout
People who leave keep their records
Opus does not delete deactivated users. Their course completions, progress data, assignments and activity history remain permanently. Deactivated team members do not count toward licences. Admins can also load past training records from a CSV file. Reports then stay accurate. Opus support provides all required data on employee training records on request.
One grid shows compliance training across the business
Compliance Reporting is a heat map of all compliance training assigned across the business. The grid updates every hour. Managers see only the Locations they manage. Admins and managers with reporting access can read each team member’s quiz responses. Every new course awards a certificate by default.
The data agreement says who handles staff data and when you hear of changes
Opus will tell you at least 15 days before it hires a new outside company to handle your data. It will tell you without undue delay once it knows of a security incident. You can audit Opus on site. You give at least 30 days’ notice, except after a security incident or during a regulatory investigation. Opus will not keep, use or share customer personal data outside the direct business relationship or for any other purpose. Opus is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant.
A named person plans the rollout
Every plan includes a dedicated Customer Success Manager. They plan the rollout and build the first programmes with your team. Most customers are live within a few weeks to a few months. Enterprise adds a dedicated team for set-up and change, a managed pilot and a faster service-level agreement.
Opus said it is profitable
If you weigh whether a supplier will last, Opus gives you these figures. It announced a Series B led by Bow Capital and said it had reached profit. It said it has supported roughly 5 million trainings. The announcement follows 116% growth in customers and locations in 2025.
Customers run from one site to more than 200 locations
These cases come from Opus’s own customer stories. Each result is what that customer reports.
Customers run from one location to more than 200
Opus is typically priced per location with no seat count. Pretzel Pete runs one location with 29 employees. Just Salad runs 120+ locations with 2,600+ employees. Ask Opus what a location costs at your headcount.
Smashburger moved 200+ locations in 60 days
When Smashburger replaced its third learning system in 14 years, it had 60 days to move 200+ locations. Smashburger reports 80% skills validation completion on a compressed 9-item limited-time offer menu, with minimal guest complaints.
Just Salad kept 80% completion for four years
Just Salad reports an 80%+ completion rate across its store network for four years. It also reports cutting new store opening time from 7 days to 3.
Vanderbilt reports 88% completion within 30 days
Vanderbilt reports that 88% of employees completed AllerTrain courses within 30 days. Vanderbilt runs one location with 60 employees.
Company-owned, franchised and mixed models all run on Opus
If you work with franchisees, ask Opus how your set-up would work in its plans.
SCORM files, shared logins and plan tiers decide how far it goes
SCORM completion depends on whether Opus hosts the course
Opus can link a SCORM package hosted outside Opus to an Opus Course. Opus then tracks completion of the Opus Course that holds the link. Opus can also host SCORM directly so completion comes from the package. Opus tells you to contact your Customer Success Manager to enable that. Rustici Software (SCORM Cloud) hosts SCORM content and learner progress for Opus, in the USA. Opus does not export courses as SCORM files. Courses export as PDFs.
A shared store profile limits records for each person
Opus works on desktop and shared devices, including kiosk setups. A shared store profile limits the ability to track individual training progress. If your staff would share one store profile, ask how each person keeps a record.
Some features sit in higher plans
Single sign-on is not in Opus’s first two plans. Single sign-on lets staff log in with a work account. Franchise organisational set-up is not in them either. The Growth plan includes HR system integration with 50+ providers, the AI course builder and digital and in-person assessments. The first plan has a limited version of the AI content builder.
Opus’s pages disagree on which plan holds your languages
Opus’s pricing page gives multilingual support in 100+ languages under Core. Its translation help article puts English, Spanish and French in the Standard Plan. The same article puts the other languages in the Growth Plan. Ask which plan covers the languages your staff speak, and get the plan name in writing.
Training suggestions read one source today
The recommendation engine turns guest feedback into a ranked list of training actions for specific Locations. It reads Google Business Profile and two guest-feedback tools, Tattle and Ovation. Guest feedback is the only source it reads today. Opus raises an issue only when at least 5 different reviews from the past 90 days point to it. A site with few reviews may get few suggestions.
The terms set a low cap on claims and let Opus change the service
Under Opus’s Terms of Use, Opus’s liability is limited in total. The limit is the greater of $100 or the amounts paid or payable in the 12 months before the claim. Opus may suspend or discontinue any part of the Services. Account termination may result in destruction of any Content associated with the account. The terms are governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, federal law and the laws of New York. Disputes go to binding arbitration in New York County under the rules of JAMS, a private arbitration service. Have a lawyer read these terms beside the data agreement.
You pay per location, and Credits and add-ons come on top
Opus is typically priced per location with no seat count. Per-user pricing is available. Volume discounts apply. Billing can be annual, quarterly or monthly. A free trial is offered. Every plan includes unlimited admins.
Opus gives an example invoice of 150 licences at $93.12 each, paid upfront for an annual discount. Treat it as the shape of an invoice, not your quote. Fixed fee charges are licence purchases and any one-time setup fees.
The contract sets the billing cycle, the contract length and the payment terms. It also sets the licences bought per team member or per Location. Billing begins on the agreement start day. Two licence rules can matter. On an annual plan the licence count does not go down during the billing period. The invoice reflects the most activated profiles at one time in the billing period. Ask Opus which of these rules apply to a per-location contract.
Checklists and Audits are an add-on to any plan. Compliance Training is an add-on sold as pay-as-you-need courses for restaurant and hospitality businesses. Additional content build work can be scoped as a paid add-on.
Premium content, including most compliance training, uses Credits at $10 each, with bulk discounts. A Credit is used when a team member starts a premium course, not when it is assigned. When the balance reaches 0, each new premium assignment that starts costs $10 per Credit. Credits bought upfront with the contract expire one year after purchase. Credits bought in the dashboard do not expire. Most Marketplace courses are free.
Opus’s terms include information about automatic renewals. Fees follow the applicable Statement of Work. Unless specified otherwise, amounts are due within 30 days of receiving an invoice. Opus’s Billing FAQ lets you end the contract at any time by contacting Opus. Payment and ownership terms survive termination. Its Terms of Use set termination rights for employers and enterprise users in a separate Statement of Work. Ask which one governs you.
At your choice, Opus will delete all your personal data after the Terms end, unless law requires storage. Until then Opus retains it unless otherwise agreed.
You could also run training steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Questions to put to Opus before you sign
- Which plan holds the features we need, such as work-account login, franchise set-up and HR system connections? Good answer: A plan name for each feature, written on the order form.
- Which plan covers the languages our staff speak? Good answer: A list of languages for that plan, in writing.
- What do we pay per Location, and what would per-user pricing cost for the same staff? Good answer: Both figures on one quote.
- How many Credits does each premium course use, and when do our Credits expire? Good answer: A Credit count for each course we want, and the expiry date of every Credit.
- Which licence rules apply to a per-location contract? Do extra activated profiles in a busy season change the invoice? Good answer: A written rule on how the most activated profiles at one time set the invoice.
- Your Billing FAQ lets us end the contract at any time. Your Terms of Use point to a separate Statement of Work. Which one governs us? Good answer: The order form states our exit right, our notice date and any fee.
- If we own SCORM courses, will you host them so completion comes from the package? Good answer: Yes, switched on in our contract, with scores in the reports.
- What can we take out when we leave, in which formats? Good answer: A named export for training records and a named format for courses.
- If staff share a device, how does each person sign in, and what record does each person keep? Good answer: An individual sign-in on shared tablets, with each history kept.
- Which lessons work offline, and when do results reach Opus? Good answer: A list of offline lessons and a written rule on when results arrive.
- How do admins sign in on our plan? Opus uses Google, an email link or a text code for the dashboard. Passwords work only in the Opus Training app. Good answer: A written list of admin sign-in methods for our plan.
- What does “4x higher frontline adoption than a typical LMS” compare against? Good answer: A named comparison group, a date and a source.
Alternatives to Opus Training
If Opus does not fit, look at Axonify, Mitti Training and EasyLlama. Buying nothing is a fourth route.
Opus’s one training signal today is guest feedback. Axonify turns manager observations into measurable signals. Look at Axonify if you want manager observations, not guest reviews, to drive what training comes next.
Opus starts from what guests write. Mitti has a feature in Early Access that creates training courses from flagged inspection areas. That starts from what an inspection finds. Ask Mitti to show you the Early Access feature working before you rely on it.
Opus sells most compliance training as premium content at $10 a Credit. Its harassment prevention course points to seven US places with their own requirements. They are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, New York and Washington, D.C. EasyLlama sells compliance courses at $24.95 per course per learner per year. Its Core plan costs $59.95 per user per year. Its harassment courses are updated yearly with jurisdiction-specific content. Ask Opus how many Credits a course uses, then compare like for like.
Whether you need Opus at all depends on four cases. Opus gives most value where consistency across locations is slipping. It also gives most value where standards change faster than retraining and teams are lean. The fourth case is where in-person coaching no longer covers every location. If none of these fits you, the need may be smaller. Opus offers a free trial, so you can check the fit before you commit. The learning management systems guide covers the wider choice.
