UKG Learning

UKG sells learning under three product names. Staff and admins reach it from UKG Pro. Admins build an academy, which is UKG’s word for the training site. They fill it with courses, live events and on-the-job training. Rules can assign courses and learning paths by job and unit.

You want training rules that follow the job and the unit. You want certificates, expiry dates and a compliance view beside the courses. You want to connect a course library such as LinkedIn Learning, Udemy Business, OpenSesame or Go1.

Do not buy it if

Hourly staff must download lessons for offline use while a location limit applies to them.

UKG quotes Ready Plus on request. The plan includes UKG Ready Core plus three products you choose, and Learning is one choice. Ask for the Learning price in writing, for the product name on your order.

Check which of three UKG learning products you are buying

Your order will carry one of three names. UKG Pro Learning sits in the UKG Pro group of services. UKG Learning and UKG Ready Learning sit in the UKG Ready group. Check which name your order carries. UKG retires its Classic experience on 5 November 2026 for all roles, admins included. Judge the New Experience, not Classic.

A learner has one place for assigned work. The My Training page holds the courses, learning paths, microlearning, live events and on-the-job training. It covers everything they are assigned or enrolled in. A Completed tab holds what they have finished. The UKG Pro Learning mobile app lets them complete assigned courses and browse on-demand courses.

Admins build the courses and learning paths. A course can hold any type of content. The platform plays SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, xAPI and cmi5 files. These are the standard formats for bought or built e-learning. In-class events can stand alone or connect to a course or path. On-the-job training adds steps that need an instructor present. Admins can verify those steps in the product.

Skills tie jobs to courses. A skill can be connected to a course or a job. Exam questions and on-the-job tasks can score skills automatically. A career path turns the skills connected to a job into a recommended list of courses. Self-assessments do not affect manager evaluations.

Course libraries connect from outside. LinkedIn Learning’s catalogue imports and syncs into the academy, and its content data is stored there for tracking and reporting. Udemy Business imports courses and learner activity every night. An organisation with an existing OpenSesame account can connect it with a customer integration ID. Customers contact their UKG Learning representative to enable Go1, then enter four details from Go1.

Ask who hosts it. Schoox announced on 21 December 2022 that UKG partners with Schoox to offer UKG Learning. UKG tells admins who set up LinkedIn Learning that the platform host names are app.schoox.com and scormengine.schoox.com. Course links on the home page open in the Schoox mobile app.

Rules, certificates and reports are in place

Assignment rules follow the job and the unit

Admins set rules that assign courses and learning paths by job and by unit. Unit membership can follow rules based on job and location. Reminders can be sent to learners and managers before and after a due date. A Transitions feature sets the training schedule for new employees and for people who change jobs.

Required training is tracked against a live certificate

Admins can mark courses as Compliance Courses and track compliance in the academy. If a course awards a certificate, every user with an active certificate counts as compliant. Expiry settings decide when a learner must retake the course. The Compliance gauge gives the share of employees who finished all required compliance courses.

Reports leave the product in a file

Report Builder reports enrolments and completions for each user. Reports can be exported as CSV, shared as templates and scheduled. They can show data for active or past employees. The product also records the time each member spends on training.

Courses can be handed out on paper, and exams can be taken on paper

Every course and learning path has a QR code on its details page. Admins can download the code as a PDF and distribute it offline. A course creator can allow an exam to be printed. The instructor then scores it by hand, records it in the person’s profile and uploads a scanned copy.

Offline downloads, live events and leavers need checking

Check each point below against the product name on your order.

Location limits and offline downloads

Admins can limit course access by IP address or physical address. An Hourly Worker role marks the users the limit covers. An hourly worker under a limit-access rule cannot download content for offline use. Admins also control who can open courses over a cell connection in the mobile app.

Live events come with set rules

Webex virtual events can only be one-day events. Live sessions in Teams need the academy linked to Microsoft Teams for Business. Attendance from Teams Breakout Rooms cannot currently be recorded. The data is not available in Microsoft’s API. That API is the link between the two products.

Removal deletes records

Removing an employee permanently deletes their records. It also deletes their progress. Reports a user created are deleted when that user is deactivated. Deactivating an inactive user keeps their learning history. Plan your leaver steps with this in mind.

Some history cannot be loaded or exported

The mass-completion template records current completions only. It does not record past ones. Failed exam attempts cannot be exported. This applies when the learner did not finish the course before it was reassigned.

Multi-factor login

Multi-factor authentication is not available to users who log in by single sign-on. Admins can reset a member’s password if the academy is not using single sign-on.

Accessibility is partial

UKG’s products are partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Conformance reports are available on request.

Multi-language exam questions are planned

The preferred-language setting decides which language version of a course a learner gets. UKG’s 2026 planned list adds multi-language exam questions. Then exams can show in the preferred language. UKG notes that planned features and their timing are subject to change.

UKG quotes Ready Plus on request. The plan includes UKG Ready Core plus three products of your choice, and Learning is one of them. Ask UKG for the price of the Learning product on your order, in writing.

A purchased subscription course needs a licence allocated to each learner before assignment. Ask who bills for those licences.

Each connected library brings its own account or sign-in details. Ask whether UKG or the library company bills for the content.

Which product name does our order carry, UKG Pro Learning, UKG Learning or UKG Ready Learning? Good answer: One name on the order, with the list of features it includes.

What happens to a leaver’s record when we remove them instead of deactivating them? Good answer: A written leaver process that keeps the record we need.
How do we record attendance for Teams breakout rooms and for Webex events that last more than a day? Good answer: A workaround that records each learner’s attendance.
Who bills for each connected library, and does the Schoox course offer need a separate contract? Good answer: A named biller for each library and one contract for the Schoox courses.

Alternatives to UKG Learning, including buying nothing

Four products answer different UKG gaps. They are Schoox, Axonify, Go1 and LinkedIn Learning. Buying nothing new is a fifth route.

Schoox suits a buyer who wants the learning system outside the HR system. It integrates with UKG Pro and UKG Ready, so UKG can stay as the HR system. Schoox is usually not a fit for a small organisation. It is built for roughly 1,000 or more learners.

If the gap is courses, you are choosing a library, not a system. Schoox offers more than 100,000 courses on 60+ topics under one contract, exclusively to UKG Learning customers. Customers contact their UKG Learning representative to enable Go1. LinkedIn Learning’s catalogue imports and syncs into the academy. Ask UKG whose invoice carries each library.

Axonify’s daily training is embedded inside UKG Dimensions. Its short daily questions adapt to each worker’s progress. At Archrock, technicians in areas without internet access can download documents. Ask Axonify whether training works offline for your own staff. That matters if a UKG location limit blocks downloads for your hourly workers.

Buying nothing new is a real option. UKG retires its Classic experience on 5 November 2026, so judge the New Experience before you buy anything else.
