Skillsoft Percipio is a set of ready-made courses with a learning platform around it. You can use Skillsoft’s own platform, or play the courses inside another learning system. The plan you pick decides how much platform you get. Your licence count decides the bill. These prices come from UK and US government documents.

Buy it if

You must assign courses, chase late learners and keep a record of who finished. Or you run Workday, Cornerstone or Degreed and want Skillsoft’s courses inside it.

Do not buy it if

Your headcount moves a lot during the year. The limits section explains how leavers count. Do not buy it mainly for the AI coach either. It is in early access.

Price

G-Cloud 15 is the UK government’s buying list. Create costs £3,117 a year for 100 people there, and Complete costs £6,285.30. Core comes with a content purchase. Content packages carry their own prices, for example £794.08 a year for 100 people in the Frontline Workforce package.

Skillsoft hands out courses, chases late learners and keeps the record

Percipio is Skillsoft’s platform to identify, build and deploy skills. If you use its own platform, admins hand out Skillsoft courses and chase them from one place.

Chasing can run on its own. Admins create assignments for audiences or learners and choose what content must be finished by the completion date. A recurring assignment gives the learner the next one automatically after the first is completed. Admins set default reminder emails for learners who receive assignments. Managers can receive a summary of direct reports with overdue assignments. Learning admins and managers can only manage assignments they created unless granted access.

The record is only as good as the way each completion reached it. The Learner Activity report covers all learner activity for the last 24 months. A restarted course may show two records with different duration, test scores and dates. Learners keep their existing completions after a course reset. Site admins can grant a completion or waiver for learners who meet the requirements outside the platform. Instructors or admins mark a live class complete. A learner completes a live event link by selecting the launch button, with no admin or instructor marking it.

You can load your own courses next to Skillsoft’s. Custom content packages support SCORM 2004, 1st to 4th editions, a standard file format for e-learning courses. Admins can also integrate content bought from other vendors for discovery, curation, tracking and reporting. An HR system can send a regular file of user details to a secure server for bulk import.

Every AI feature has its own setting. Skillsoft recommends keeping all of them on. Admins may turn them off for security and privacy. Three tools matter most to a Head of HR.

The AI Assistant answers from Skillsoft’s courses, and may turn to ChatGPT

It tries to answer from the learner’s job role and the transcripts of all Skillsoft courses and videos. If an admin enables it, it also uses your custom content. With the Enhanced AI responses setting on, it uses the full capability of ChatGPT. It does so when it finds no response within Skillsoft’s guardrails. The AI Assistant FAQ answers “Does the AI Assistant use ChatGPT?” with no, but it does use OpenAI models. The model keeps no conversation data. Skillsoft stores the conversation data under the contract terms and can delete the AI Assistant log data on request. Skillsoft does not use users’ AI Assistant conversations or feedback to train AI models. A learner-side setting for these conversations is on by default for US data centre customers. It is off by default for EU data centre customers. The FAQ warns that responses may be inaccurate and are not a replacement for professional advice.

AI Coach keeps conversations from managers, but it is early access and off until you switch it on

Individual coaching conversations are never shared with managers, HR teams or organisational leadership. Learner data is used to personalise coaching. It is not used to train external AI models or shared with third parties. Learners can upload documents such as performance reviews, assessments, development plans or project materials. Skillsoft introduced AI Coach on 4 August 2026. It is in early access for customers who bought the full platform experience. It currently uses commercial off-the-shelf models, and their creators do not list all the data used for training.

CAISY practice scores reach admins’ reports, and Skillsoft calls the ratings subjective

A learner chooses a role and practises a skill by answering AI prompts. They receive feedback that adapts to each answer. The simulator rates a learner’s responses as if it were a human resources representative employing best practices. Skillsoft calls the simulator’s responses subjective and non-precise, focusing on qualitative factors. Platform reports still give each learner’s CAISY rating score to admins who have access to reports containing that user. Settle who sees those scores before learners start.

Its courses can play in other systems, and its UK public terms are written down

If you already run another learning system, the courses can play inside it

A connector plays Percipio courses in Cornerstone, Degreed, Saba, SAP SuccessFactors, SumTotal or Workday. A second method, Content Integration, serves customers with any other learning system. It also serves customers with a system such as SharePoint. It suits customers who want Percipio compliance content too. Percipio has an app for Microsoft Teams.

Some of its UK public-sector terms are worth asking for in your own contract

Percipio is on G-Cloud 15, the UK government’s buying list. Its terms are written down, so you can ask Skillsoft for the same ones. Skillsoft provides a copy of the buyer’s data on request within 30 days of the end of the contract. That includes usage data of individuals, in an industry-standard format. Skillsoft recognises the buyer’s right to terminate without cause and has no right to terminate without cause.

Named customers report results

CGI Asia Pacific had a 15,000-strong workforce. Skillsoft reports $8.2 million of demonstrated economic benefit. It reports a 1,781% return in just over a year. Delta Dental of California reports 94.4% learner satisfaction among contact centre new hires. It also reports a 13-point rise in net promoter scores for low performers. HII Mission Technologies set an 80% to 100% completion goal. Of 150 who started, 139 were active at the end of the bootcamps.

It suits a buyer who must assign training and prove who finished

The connector plays Skillsoft courses inside those systems. Ask whether it works on Core, or whether you need Create or Complete.

Under Skillsoft’s G-Cloud 15 pricing, the learning platform is Basic in Core, Limited in Create and Full in Complete. Building custom learning content from knowledge sources comes with Create and Complete. The Skills Intelligence Foundation, which maps skills to job roles, comes with Complete. Leavers still count against your licence

Under Skillsoft’s G-Cloud terms, deactivated and deleted users still count as licensed users until the annual renewal date. The buyer can transfer a leaver’s licence to another individual. That is up to 10% of the authorised audience in a year, unless the buyer’s contract provides otherwise. Unconsumed licence slots at the end of a year are forfeit, with no refund.

Your own courses get less than Skillsoft’s

Custom content cannot be downloaded to the mobile app at this time. Translated captions are only for Skillsoft courses and custom English US videos. They do not cover custom courses or Skillsoft Compliance courses.

The company reports a loss and is working on its debt

Skillsoft reported second quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $98.2 million, down 3% on the prior year. Its net loss was $15.0 million, against $18.0 million a year earlier. The chief executive calls addressing the debt structure the top financial priority. The NYSE accepted Skillsoft’s plan to regain compliance with a listing standard. Compliance is due by 26 September 2027.

Under Skillsoft’s privacy notice, a learner may use a business account from an employer. Information about that learner’s activity is accessible to the employer and may be disclosed to it. Decide before launch what you tell learners about that.

Prices come from government price schedules, and under G-Cloud you are billed a year ahead

Skillsoft’s clearest prices sit in UK and US government documents, so ask what your own price would be. Skillsoft U.K. Limited offers a free trial of Percipio on G-Cloud 15.

The platform has three levels. Percipio Core comes with a content purchase. Create costs £3,117 a year for 100 people and £24,041 for 1,001. Complete costs £6,285.30 for 100 people and £47,570.52 for 1,001. Content packages carry their own annual prices for 100 people. Frontline Workforce costs £794.08, which is £7.94 a person. Leadership Development Skills costs £2,779, which is £27.79 a person. Business Skills costs £16,130, which is £161.30 a person.

Extra custom-content storage beyond 200 gigabytes costs £64.89 per gigabyte. A Percipio LMS Implementation Service costs £4,462.05 where it is not included in the first year of a contract. The Essential Launch service is designed to deploy the platform to learners within 4 to 8 weeks. Committed licence charges are invoiced annually in advance.

On its Texas government page, Skillsoft sells subscriptions for a minimum of one year. Price depends on the type of resource and the number of users, and falls per user as users increase. In one block of Skillsoft’s Texas annual-subscription price table, an audience of 2 has a list price of $354.41. The Texas price is $180.75. An audience of 500 has a list price of $263.67. The Texas price is $134.47. Each carries a 49% discount.

US federal orders point to the scale at the top end. A Treasury order for Skillsoft e-learning licences, dated 17 July 2023, totals $5,310,554.47. A Department of Homeland Security task order totals $4,995,000 and reaches $8.5 million with all options. These are government orders, not list prices.

Two more G-Cloud terms affect the bill. If licensed users in a year exceed the authorised audience, Skillsoft invoices additional charges. If the buyer ends the contract under clause 18.1, unpaid charges for the current year stay payable. Paid charges are not refunded, and the buyer has no liability for later years.

On termination, all customer data can be transferred in an agreed medium. It may instead be securely erased under Skillsoft’s Digital Media Destruction Policy. Exit planning is restricted to the data copy because of the proprietary nature of the cloud software. Ask whether your own contract carries the same terms.

Ten questions to settle before you sign

Which plan do I need, and which features does my contract switch on? Good answer: A written list, feature by feature, for Core, Create or Complete.
How do you count licensed users, and what happens when people leave? Good answer: A written rule for leavers, with the share I may transfer and the date the count resets.
Which model answers my learners’ questions in the AI Assistant? Good answer: One named model, in writing.
How long does Skillsoft keep AI Assistant conversation data under my contract? Good answer: One written retention period and a deletion route.
Who can see a learner’s CAISY score, and can I narrow that access? Good answer: A written list of who sees scores, and a setting to limit it.
When will AI Coach leave early access, and what will it cost? Good answer: A date and a written price.
How do I keep learning records for more than 24 months? Good answer: An export or archive route that meets my own record-keeping rules.
What is my own total, with implementation, extra storage and launch help on separate lines? Good answer: One written total with each line priced.

Alternatives to Skillsoft, including buying nothing

Skillsoft stops in three places that point to different alternatives. If leavers’ licences are the worry, look at LinkedIn Learning or Go1. If the platform is the gap, look at Cornerstone, Degreed or Docebo. If managers need to practise hard conversations, look at Risely’s Merlin. Buying nothing yet is another route.

Under Skillsoft’s G-Cloud terms, a buyer can transfer a leaver’s licence to another individual. That is up to 10% of the authorised audience in a year, unless the buyer’s contract provides otherwise. LinkedIn Learning lets a customer reassign 10 seats or 25% of seats bought in each 12-month term, whichever is greater. Go1 Premium Pro customers may reassign up to 20% of licences a year for leavers.

If Percipio’s own platform is not enough, buy the platform elsewhere and keep the courses. Cornerstone and Degreed play Skillsoft courses through the connector. Cornerstone Learning offers the capabilities of a learning management system and a learning experience platform in one solution. A learning experience platform is built around finding and suggesting content. Degreed offers one as a single point of access for all learning. For Docebo, the route is Content Integration. Docebo is an AI-powered learning platform.

AI Coach is in early access for customers who bought the full platform experience. Managers who want to practise hard conversations now have another route. Merlin is Risely’s AI coach. In roleplay, Merlin plays the other person, such as a defensive direct report or a sceptical VP. The manager practises their approach before the real conversation. Merlin also works through real-world scenarios, such as a team member saying they are thinking about quitting. Merlin delivers no training and keeps no completion records, so use it beside a learning system. Degreed’s Maestro Studio also creates custom AI coaches and roleplays.
