Spark Hire

Spark Hire’s ATS is built for companies of 50 to 500 people, yet it publishes prices only up to 50. Video interviews and AI resume review come in every plan, and a setting lets the AI move candidates on. You sign for a year or longer, and its own pages differ on using your data to train AI. Staff screens are English only, and the ATS connects to one HR system at a time.

A bundled ATS for 50 to 500 people, with a price you must ask for

Spark Hire asks you to take three things together. They are a hiring system, built-in video interviews and a contract of a year or longer. Whether that suits you depends on your headcount, how you screen and how much risk you accept in the terms.

In one line

Spark Hire’s ATS puts a hiring pipeline, one-way video interviews and AI resume review in one system. You sign for a year or longer.

Buy it if

Your company has 50 to 500 employees. You want video interviews and resume ranking without a second contract. Your applicants apply in English, French, German, Spanish or Russian. Your resumes arrive in English. You can commit to a year.

Do not buy it if

You need the price at your headcount before a sales call. Your recruiters need screens in a language other than English. You want to leave mid-term. Your lawyers will not accept terms that let a vendor use anonymised customer content to train AI.

Price

Pro starts at $335 a month and Growth at $499 a month, for companies of up to 50 employees. Above 50 employees the price scales with headcount. Enterprise, above 500 employees, is quoted by sales. All pricing is in US dollars.

What you get from Spark Hire’s ATS, and where it came from

You are deciding whether one vendor should supply your hiring pipeline and your video interviews. So it helps to know how Spark Hire arrived at that offer. Spark Hire’s two core solutions are Meet and Recruit. It announced the integration of Comeet, an applicant tracking system, into its offering on 11 June 2023. That system is now known as Spark Hire’s ATS, and its plans are Recruit Pro, Recruit Growth and Recruit Enterprise.

Boathouse Capital, a private equity firm, backed both companies at the time of the merger. Josh Tolan, Spark Hire’s CEO, leads the combined company. After the merger, both products and brands were to operate independently at first. For Comeet customers, accounts, contracts and support were maintained. In the Recruit terms of service, the vendor is still called Comeet. So check which company signs your contract.

The hiring steps are mostly standard, so the useful question is what runs without a recruiter. Recruit reads each resume and pulls out the name, work history, education and skills. Nobody types them in. Knockout questions reject an applicant automatically when an answer matches a rule you set, and the application is kept. Approvers can approve an opening from email without logging in, but requisition approval management is not included in Pro. Growth and Enterprise include it. Some steps still wait for a person. After an interview recommendation of Not sure or No hire, Recruit creates a Go/No-go step for a recruiter.

The rest of the process is the usual set. You post jobs to a hosted careers page or embed them in your own site. You can also post to several job boards. Offers go out as e-signed letters through PandaDoc, and each plan has a yearly number of them.

Video interviewing is in every plan. Candidates record video answers to questions you set, on their own time, so nobody has to find a shared slot. Pro lets candidates book interviews on their own from your availability, on a branded page that works on mobile.

A long list of integrations does not settle whether your own systems connect. Spark Hire puts its integrations at 100+. It also puts the count at 50+ HR and applicant tracking systems and 1,000+ productivity apps. Ask for the list of the systems you use before you count either number. The examples that matter to a hiring team are calendars and chat. Recruit connects to Google Calendar, Microsoft Office365 and Microsoft Exchange. It posts approvals in Slack and recruiting updates in Microsoft Teams channels. LinkedIn Recruiter System Connect syncs candidate data between LinkedIn Recruiter and Recruit.

What the AI resume review does with your applicants

AI Resume Review is the feature that touches your applicants most. It matters to you because it ranks people before a recruiter reads their resumes. It scores each requirement and gives an overall suitability score. The overall fit appears as Low fit, Partial fit, Good fit or Strong fit. The AI then ranks candidates by overall score in the position’s candidate list.

What happens next depends on how you set the step. The AI Resume Review step can advance suitable candidates automatically, or it can leave them for manual review. The step can advance candidates rated Good fit or Strong fit to the next stage. With Strict match, a candidate who misses one or more Must requirements gets a Low fit rating automatically. Spark Hire recommends reviewing lower-ranked candidates by hand and rejecting them in bulk. Its guidance is that the review gives recommendations and the final decision lies with the hiring team. So the setting decides whether the AI or a recruiter moves suitable candidates on. Automatic rejection is a separate tool, the knockout question, and you write its rules.

Spark Hire reports a test of AI Resume Review with accuracy of 91.36%, precision of 94.93% and recall of 92.10%. Accuracy is the share of candidates it sorted correctly. Precision is the share of candidates it called suitable who really were. Recall is the share of suitable candidates it found. Spark Hire also tells candidates that the review aligned with recruiter evaluations 92% of the time. Ask what the test measured against, and how many resumes it covered.

Before you rely on the ranking, check what the review leaves out. Spark Hire’s guidance excludes image-based resumes and resumes in languages other than English. If many applicants send scanned or non-English resumes, ask how the review handles them. Supported resume length is 300 to 20,000 characters. The review is not meant to assess soft skills or subjective traits, so plan another way to judge those. The yearly allowance is 6,000 reviews on Pro, 24,000 on Growth and 36,000 on Enterprise. Extra reviews can be bought, and the price is on request. Compare the allowance with the number of applications you receive in a year.

Other AI features sit around it. The AI Assistant generates position descriptions from titles, and it drafts pre-screening questionnaires, interview questions and email templates. AI Evaluation Summary turns interview evaluations into pros, concerns and areas for further review. It does not make hiring decisions.

Two more features touch interviews, and both need a decision from you. AI Video Review scores English responses across 4 competencies and 2 personal qualities. It may miss tone or culturally nuanced cues. Its core factors are in the Screen, Growth and Enterprise plans, and additional features are a paid add-on. Ask which of your plans include it. The Notetaker is in beta. It captures audio and video and makes an internal transcript. Once activated, it joins every interview unless you disable it in the position settings. So decide which positions it should join before you switch it on. It has an annual interview quota.

What Spark Hire does well

A hiring system earns its place by what it saves your team and what it protects. Six things stand out for Spark Hire, and each one gives you something to weigh against the limits that follow.

Video interviews and AI resume review are in every plan

If you already plan to screen by video, one contract covers it. Every plan includes one-way video interviews and AI-assisted resume review. The AI Notetaker is the exception, because it is an add-on.

You control how long candidate data is kept

Candidate data is personal data, so you need a rule for how long you hold it. The employer sets the retention period, and Recruit can remove the data automatically when that period ends. Enterprise can set regional rules by the location of the position. That helps if you hire in more than one country. A candidate can also ask for their data, and Recruit can send them a ZIP file in CSV format.

Equal opportunity reporting is built in

Recruit can run an EEOC and OFCCP questionnaire for the whole company or for US offices only. The data downloads from the Analytics area for the annual report or an audit. Diversity surveys are optional, and they are not linked to the candidate’s profile. These are US rules, so they matter most if you hire there.

The AI features have switches

A switch lets you keep a feature off until your legal and privacy teams have approved it. You can turn AI Resume Review on or off. You can do the same for AI-powered candidate search in Settings. The AI features for one-way video are off until someone enables them in Job settings. The Notetaker has a candidate consent page, and the candidate can choose to join without recording. Spark Hire also tells customers to comply with New York City Local Law 144 before they activate the AI tools. That law covers tools whose score or recommendation substantially assists or replaces screening decisions in New York City.

Set-up is short, and there is no set-up fee

Most organisations implement within 30 days. Spark Hire’s pricing plans have no set-up fees. If you move from another ATS, Spark Hire’s migration specialists help, and the average migration takes 14 days. Migration support is an add-on for customers who include it in their plan.

Security evidence is there for your team to read

Your security team can read evidence instead of taking claims on trust. Spark Hire has received a SOC 2 Type 2 report. Customers that are not on Enterprise can use its Trust Center for completed security questionnaire templates and audit reports. Its cloud storage sits in a data centre in Ireland, run by Amazon Web Services. Ask whether all candidate data stays there, because OpenAI handles generative AI in the United States. Ask too whether your security team can see the Trust Center before you sign.

Which company sizes the three plans are built for

Spark Hire builds its plans by company size. So your headcount decides which plan you buy. It also decides how much you can know about the price before a sales call. More than 700 organisations use Spark Hire’s ATS. Here is what each size gets, with a customer at that size.

Companies of up to 50 people

At this size the price is public. Pro starts at $335 a month and Growth at $499 a month. Pro leaves out requisition approval management, which Growth and Enterprise include. ECMSI has 11 to 50 employees and cut its average time to hire from 60 days to 30.

Companies of 51 to 500 people

Pro is built for companies of up to 200 employees, with unlimited users. Growth is for companies of up to 500 and adds lead management for passive talent. You get a plan that fits your size, but not a published price. Above 50 employees the price scales with headcount, so ask for a quote. Paymentology has 201 to 500 employees and moved to Spark Hire’s ATS from SmartRecruiters and TeamTailor. Its candidate experience improved in communication and scheduling.

Companies above 500 people

Enterprise is for high-growth companies with complex hiring needs, advanced compliance requirements and large teams. It adds legal redline review, the Recruiting API and a daily CSV push to your own storage. Sales quotes the price. The Medical Review Institute of America has 501 to 1,000 people. Its Chief People Officer puts hiring at under seven days from start to finish for some positions, down from weeks.

A contract of a year or longer, mixed AI data terms and English-only screens

The contract and the data terms deserve your closest read. They are the hardest part of a purchase to undo, and they cost the most when they go wrong. These are the six places where Spark Hire’s terms or product set a limit. Know them before you sign.

You commit for a year or longer, and renewals cost more

A contract is hardest to fix after you sign it, and this one is long. Spark Hire sells the ATS on an annual contract or longer, with no refunds. Under Comeet’s terms, the contract renews automatically unless you give notice at least 60 days before the term ends. Fees are revised upwards by 8% at each renewal. The renewal invoice also reflects any increase in your employee range. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term, so a mistake at signing costs a full year.

Changing the contract is an Enterprise feature

If you cannot negotiate the terms, you need to know what the standard terms say. Spark Hire reviews legal redlines only for Enterprise customers. On Pro or Growth you may be signing the standard terms as written. Under Comeet’s terms, liability is capped at the fees you paid in the preceding twelve months. Weigh that figure against the data you will store. Availability follows the hosting provider’s uptime commitments, so ask what that means in your busiest hiring weeks. New York law governs the terms, which matters if your lawyers work under another state’s or country’s law. Enterprise carries a guaranteed support level of 4 business hours. If you are on Pro or Growth, ask which support level applies to you.

Your data may help train AI, and Spark Hire’s pages differ on it

Your candidates are your applicants, and your privacy notice has to match what the vendor may do with their data. Spark Hire’s pages do not agree on that. On its AI page, the tools do not learn or self-adjust from a customer’s behaviour. Feedback helps improve future versions. In its employer terms of use, Spark Hire may use anonymised customer content, including to train AI. Comeet’s Additional Service Terms give it a licence to use input and output to provide and improve its products. They also let Comeet share some input data with third-party AI systems and vendors. One of Spark Hire’s outside providers is OpenAI, which handles generative AI in the United States. Ask which of these applies to your candidates’ data.

Hired candidates cannot be deleted from Recruit

A person you hire may later ask you to delete their candidate record. Employers handle deletion requests, and Spark Hire acts as a service provider. When data is deleted or pseudonymised automatically, Recruit does not notify the candidate. If your privacy notice promises deletion on request, ask how that works for people you hired.

Staff work in English, and applicants get five languages

The user interface and the system emails are English only. Careers-site application forms support English, French, German, Spanish and Russian. More languages are available on request. Within the AI Assistant, only position descriptions support all languages. The guidance for AI Resume Review excludes resumes in other languages, and AI Video Review evaluates responses in English. If your recruiters or hiring managers work in another language, test the screens before you sign.

Recruit connects to one HR system at a time

When you hire someone, the next step is the employee record, so the HR link matters. Recruit supports one HRIS integration at a time. It creates a new employee profile in the connected HR system when a candidate is hired. The SAP SuccessFactors integration requires custom implementation. API access is a paid add-on, and Enterprise includes the Recruiting API. If you run payroll and HR in two systems, ask which one Recruit will feed.

Messaging has limits that matter if you hire outside the US and Canada, or need every message on record. One-Way SMS is available only for positions in the US or Canada and for candidates with US or Canadian numbers. Candidates must opt in before an SMS is sent. WhatsApp conversations happen in external apps and are not logged in Recruit.

What it costs, and what you get back when you leave

You need a price to put in a budget, and Spark Hire gives you one only for the smallest companies. Pro starts at $335 a month and Growth at $499 a month for companies of up to 50 employees. A year at the Pro starting price comes to $4,020, before any rise. Above 50 employees the price scales with employee count. Spark Hire builds Pro for companies of up to 200 employees and Growth for up to 500. Enterprise is quoted by sales. For a company of 300 people, ask for a quote.

The contract and the add-ons decide what you pay beyond the starting price. The contract is annual only, with no refunds. At each renewal the fee rises 8%, and a larger employee range raises the invoice further. Spark Hire’s pricing plans have no set-up fees. The extra costs come from renewals, add-ons and moving your data in. API access, the AI Notetaker and extra AI Resume Review reviews are add-ons. Each plan has a yearly limit on e-signed offers, at 100, 200 and 300 documents across the three plans. Existing Spark Hire customers get the best pricing for Recruit as an incremental cost on top of their current plan.

Moving data in from another system has its own costs. Migration beyond 5,000 candidates is quoted on request. Migration support is an add-on for customers who include it in their plan. Recruit can bulk-import candidates for a specific position, up to 250 candidates. If you are moving from Greenhouse, ask whether that move needs Enterprise.

Support hours differ between Spark Hire’s own pages. Its pricing page puts support at 24 hours a day, six days a week, at no charge. Its migration page puts Recruit support at Sunday to Friday during business hours. Ask which applies to your plan, and get the hours in writing.

The contract also decides how you leave, so ask about your exit before you sign. Under Comeet’s terms, Comeet provides Excel files with candidate lists within seven days after termination. It also provides a folder with the resumes candidates submitted. On the security side, Spark Hire exports the entire database and erases data 30 days after the contract ends. Enterprise customers get a daily CSV push to their own SFTP or S3 storage. If you are not on Enterprise, ask what the export holds before you rely on it.

You could also run hiring steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions to settle before you sign

Price, data and leaving are the points that are hard to change after you sign. These questions are worth settling with the vendor first. Each one comes with an answer that should satisfy you.

  1. What will Recruit cost at our headcount this year, and what will it cost after the first renewal? Good answer: A written price for each year, with the 8% rise and any change of employee range shown.
  2. Which company signs our contract, and which terms apply to us? Good answer: A named company, with the Recruit terms attached to the order form.
  3. Will you rule out training AI on our candidates’ data, and which third-party AI systems receive our input? Good answer: A written exclusion in the order form and a named list of AI systems that receive our data.
  4. Who ran the bias audit of AI Resume Review, and can we read the report? Good answer: A named outside auditor, and the full report for the review we plan to use.
  5. Which support hours and response times apply to our plan? Good answer: The hours and response times for our plan, in writing.
  6. When we leave, what exactly do we get back, and in which format? Good answer: Every candidate record with notes, scores and history, in a stated file format and a stated time window.
  7. How do we delete a hired person’s record when they ask? Good answer: A documented process that Spark Hire has run before.
  8. Which of our systems connect, and what moves each way? Good answer: A named integration for each system, with a clear list of what Recruit sends and receives.

Alternatives to Spark Hire

Four alternatives to Spark Hire are Breezy HR, Workable, Recruitee and Pinpoint. They answer three questions differently. The first is what the vendor does with your candidates’ data. The second is how long you commit. The third is whether video interviews come in the box.

Start with candidate data, because Spark Hire’s own pages differ on it. Breezy HR does not use customer content to train AI models. Recruitee does not use customer data to train AI models, unless its terms provide otherwise. Pinpoint never uses customer data to train, fine-tune or improve any global, shared or vendor-owned model. Workable may use aggregated data from your use of the service to develop and improve the service. Read each vendor’s terms next to your own privacy notice.

Then compare how long you are tied in and how you pay. Spark Hire sells its ATS on an annual contract or longer, with no refunds. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term. Recruitee has a one-year minimum, though monthly payment is possible. Workable renews for successive one-year terms unless either party gives written notice before the anniversary. Under Pinpoint’s July 2026 sales agreement, fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Ask every vendor what you owe if you stop after six months.

The video question runs the other way. Spark Hire includes one-way video interviews in every plan. Workable sells video interviews as an extra on Standard. That costs $109 a month at the default band. Premier and Enterprise include them. If you will not screen by video, the bundle is no advantage to you.

Sources and method Everything about Spark Hire here comes from Spark Hire’s own website. That covers its pricing page, help centres and legal terms. It also covers its privacy policy, sub-processor list and customer stories. The alternatives section also draws on the terms and pricing pages of the four vendors it covers. The New York City law comes from the city council’s published text. What Spark Hire publishes about its own product is taken as a true description of that product. Where two of its own pages differ, the text keeps both and gives you the difference as a question. Every source was read on 2 Nov 2026.
