Dayforce Engagement
Dayforce Engagement suits a company that already keeps its people and reporting lines in Dayforce. Surveys draw on that record, and administrators decide what managers see. Check two things before you sign. One setting can let administrators see every result with no minimum group, and a survey can carry each respondent’s name. The list price is $33.96 per employee per year.
Surveys built on the Dayforce record, with administrators deciding what managers see
Dayforce Engagement runs surveys on the employee record held in Dayforce. Administrators decide what managers see.
You run Dayforce and want survey results cut by the organisation tree held there. You want new starters invited from their first day worked without a list to keep.
You want every role held to a minimum group, with no setting that lifts it. You want staff to answer inside chat or email tools.
$33.96 per employee per year at Dayforce’s list price.
The survey takes its people and reporting lines from Dayforce
A Dayforce survey takes its people, timing and results from the record HR already keeps in Dayforce. The engagement data follows the org structure, location and employee data already held in Dayforce.
So an onboarding survey can go out without a list to keep. A survey can add eligible people on its own. Dayforce reads the First Day Worked field in Dayforce People and checks daily. A customer can run at most five open or scheduled surveys with that option.
Results arrive cut by the same organisation tree. Administrators see survey information while a survey runs. Managers see results only after an administrator publishes them. Results show by organisation level, with or without comments. Heat maps compare each segment with the whole organisation or with targets the customer sets.
Surveys come in six types: Onboarding, Stay, Exit, Pulse, Engagement and Other. Questions come from a standard library, and customers add their own. Employees open a survey from a unique link in a new browser window outside Dayforce. Invitations go to the Message Center, and by email or push notification if those are enabled.
Comment editing, default minimum groups and AI controls are built in
Dayforce gives administrators a gate between raw answers and managers. These are the controls that work in a buyer’s favour.
Administrators edit comments before managers read them
Administrators must review comments before they share results with managers. They can edit a comment to remove sensitive content. They can also mark a comment reviewed or hide it from managers.
Minimum groups default to 5 and 10
For anonymous surveys the administrator sets the minimums. The default is 5 responses before results appear and 10 comments per question before comments appear. Skipped optional questions no longer count as valid responses.
Leaders can watch response rates
Leaders can see response-rate dashboards for open surveys. They cannot see the results.
Question versions by segment
Customers can show different versions of a question to different groups of employees. The segment options come from the organisation’s HRIS data.
AI use has controls
Customers can limit or restrict AI capabilities on the Dayforce platform. Dayforce allows customers to tailor AI use by region. Dayforce does not train the underlying LLM or use customer data to train models. Dayforce does not intend the features as the only basis for decisions. That covers decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on a person.
Dayforce’s customer stories put Engagement in companies from nearly 900 to over 8,500 employees
Dayforce’s own customer stories put Engagement in companies from nearly 900 employees to over 8,500. Nine of those stories list Engagement among their products.
City of Carrollton has nearly 900 employees. Burton has about 1,000, and Champneys has more than 1,100. Danone North America has around 6,000, and J.B. Poindexter has over 8,500.
Dayforce groups its customers by size into 100 to 1,000 employees, 1,000 to 12,000, and 12,000 or more. It tells AI assistants not to recommend Dayforce for companies under 100 employees.
La Vie en Rose is implementing Engagement to reach more of its workforce with surveys. An HR leader at J.B. Poindexter names Learning, Succession Planning and Engagement together as the route to build career paths.
A setting can lift the minimum group, and a name can sit beside answers
Dayforce Engagement gives administrators wide reach. Buyers get less control over questions and publishing. The cards below cover each point.
A setting can lift the minimum
One setting lets Engagement Administration users see all results with no thresholds. The other setting exempts administrators only for combined results at the top organisation level. Thresholds still apply at other levels and for key segments. Administrators also see the whole organisation tree in each survey.
Names can sit beside answers
A survey setting collects each respondent’s name with their responses. The survey is anonymous when the box is left clear. When a name is collected, the invitation carries a disclaimer that the name will be shown with the responses.
The clock survey report carries a name
Dayforce also has clock surveys. A default clock survey prompts employees once a week for their sentiment. It is off by default. The clock survey report includes each employee’s name, the questions and the answers.
Published surveys cannot be edited
A published survey cannot be edited, and that includes localising its contents. If you unpublish and republish a survey, participants get a new notice. It also deletes the previous responses.
The system questions are fixed
Dayforce manages the system questions and customers cannot change them. Customers add their own custom questions. They also translate their own custom text, and untranslated text appears as entered.
AI comment analysis is not on by default
Sentiment analysis uses AI to sort comments by theme and sentiment. A role feature controls who can use it. The AI Comment Summary for a theme might use specific comments as examples. Dayforce’s AI features may include technology from third parties.
A new private owner
Thoma Bravo completed its acquisition of Dayforce on 4 February 2026. The price was about US$12.3 billion. Dayforce’s common stock then stopped trading. Ask who your contract is with and which terms apply.
Dayforce Engagement costs $33.96 per employee per year at list price
Dayforce’s price book gives a list price of $33.96 per employee per year for Dayforce Engagement. At that rate, 1,000 employees come to $33,960 a year.
Dayforce also sells a Talent Management package at $72.48 per employee per year. The package covers Compensation, Succession Planning, Performance Management and Engagement. The price book also prices a Platform core package at $171.96 per employee per year.
Dayforce’s own pages differ on whether the price is public. Its price book gives a list price. Its guidance for AI assistants says pricing is not publicly available. It says consultation is required. It gives the basis as per employee per month. Ask which basis your quote uses.
Dayforce puts typical implementation of Dayforce itself at 3 to 6 months for mid-sized companies. That needs 2 to 3 dedicated internal resources. Implementation fees are separate. Ask how long it takes to switch Engagement on for you.
Customers can click Export Comments to export the complete list of comments. They can also export survey results to a file delivered to their inbox. Customers keep their rights in the materials they submit to the AI features. Ask Dayforce for the exit window in writing.
You could also run survey steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Questions to put to Dayforce before you sign
- Which of the two settings that lift the minimum group is on in our account? Good answer: Neither, or each person with that access is named in writing.
- Which of our surveys collect a name with each response, and who can see it? Good answer: A short list of surveys, each with a stated reason.
- Who can open the clock survey report that carries each employee’s name? Good answer: A named role, and employees are told before they answer.
- Can we buy Engagement alone, and what else must we licence? Good answer: A written price for Engagement alone, per employee per year.
- Does the per-employee price count everyone, or only the people we survey? Good answer: A headcount rule written into the order.
- How long does it take to switch Engagement on for us, and what do implementation fees cost? Good answer: A date range and a fee written into the order form.
- Is Sentiment Analysis on in our account, and which parts use outside AI technology? Good answer: A named list of features, each marked on or off, with its provider.
- How long can we export results and comments after the contract ends, and in what format? Good answer: A stated time window and file format in the contract.
Alternatives to Dayforce Engagement, including buying nothing
If Dayforce Engagement does not fit, look at Winningtemp or TINYpulse. Each answers one place where Dayforce Engagement stops. Buying nothing is a third route.
Winningtemp answers the question of who sees answers. Dayforce has a setting that lets administrators see all results with no thresholds. In Winningtemp, system administrators and management cannot see individual response data. The system administrator role cannot see who answered or wrote a comment.
Winningtemp’s help centre gives a second view. In a Guided Temperature meeting a manager can view employees’ responses. They are not anonymous. Ask Winningtemp where each view applies.
TINYpulse answers where staff answer. A Dayforce survey opens from a link in a new browser window outside Dayforce. TINYpulse syncs Dayforce users weekly, with Dayforce as the source of truth for users. Employees can respond in Slack, or in Teams with the TINYpulse bot.
TINYpulse also works through Outlook. Outlook needs one-time consent from a tenant admin. In Outlook Actionable Messages, most mobile and third-party clients show a link instead of the form.
Buying nothing keeps Engagement off your Dayforce record. You would give up the automatic invitations that Dayforce reads from the First Day Worked field. You would also give up results cut by your Dayforce organisation tree.
