Dayforce Learning is the training system inside Dayforce’s HR platform. Administrators build courses, assign them and track who finishes. It tracks required courses, deadlines and certificate renewals. Dayforce has a new version and a classic version of it. Dayforce Learning is $56.76 per employee per year on Dayforce’s published price book. Implementation fees are separate.

Buy it if

You want required courses, deadlines and certificate expiry tracked in one place. You can staff a set-up that takes a typical 3 to 6 months for mid-sized companies. Dayforce asks for 2 to 3 of your own people dedicated to it.

Do not buy it if

You have fewer than 100 employees. For Dayforce as a whole, Dayforce gives 100 to 4,000 or more employees as its sweet spot. It does not recommend itself under 100. You want a free trial first. Under Dayforce’s G-Cloud listing, a free trial is not available. You need a final price before any consultation.

Price

$56.76 per employee per year for Learning on Dayforce’s published price book. Implementation fees are separate. Dayforce gives £12.75 to £30.00 a person a month for its cloud HR platform on its G-Cloud 14 listing. Ask which figure applies.

A training system inside Dayforce, in a new version and a classic one

Dayforce Learning sits inside the Dayforce platform. Administrators create courses, assign them and track who finishes. Dayforce ties learning to points in an employee’s career, from onboarding to succession planning. It offers the compliance support of a learning management system and the engagement of a learning experience platform. The second is a platform that suggests content to each learner.

There are two Learning features, and they have separate guides. Dayforce has a new Dayforce Learning feature and a classic Learning feature. The classic app on phones has a third guide. The classic feature also takes xAPI. xAPI is a standard for sending learning records between systems. The classic app plays downloaded SCORM, video, slide, file and HTML page content offline. It syncs progress when it is back online. Some classic features are only available with the Coach and Share add-on.

Can you reuse courses you already own? Administrators can upload SCORM or AICC course files of up to 1 GB each. SCORM is the standard file format for e-learning courses. Dayforce accepts SCORM 1.2 and 2004, with 2004 preferred. SCORM quiz data can be collected and reported, including final scores and attempts.

Where do ready-made courses come from? Go1 supplies them through a Content Store. Customers with their own account can also connect OpenSesame, LinkedIn Learning or Udemy Business. Udemy courses open on Udemy and report completions back to Dayforce Learning.

What does the AI do? Three tools sit behind one setting called AI Features. AI Course Creator builds a course from a goal, an audience and a subject. It can also start from your own presentations and guides. The administrator reviews an outline first, then the full course. AI Course Translation and AI Course Editing cover other languages and text blocks. Learners also get course suggestions based on the skills tied to their job and career profile.

It tracks certificates, deadlines and skills in some depth

Certificates renew on rules you set

A refresher course can renew a certificate in full or extend it for a while. Administrators set how many times a learner may take the refresher before they must redo the full course. Reports show each employee’s status, expiry date and certificate history. Dayforce runs an automatic check for certificates close to expiry and tells the roles you choose. A certificate goes out automatically when the status changes to Completed.

Managers see their own people

Managers can follow learning activity and assign courses to their employees. They can mark a course as required and set a deadline. A manager sees completed courses, required and optional completion, and time spent for each employee. A notice goes to the manager before an assigned deadline.

Skills attach to courses without much typing

Dayforce Learning uses AI to read a course and tag it with skills. Those skills go to each employee when they finish the course. Administrators can link courses to the Dayforce skills list or to a skills list of their own. Imported library courses can get skills added automatically.

The AI tools start switched off, and you review them

The AI course tools are not on by default. Administrators get them through an AI permission on their learning role. Dayforce does not train the underlying language model or use customer data to train models. Customers control where and how AI is applied. These features may include technology from third parties.

Three customers and a set-up that needs your people

Buehler’s Fresh Foods runs 2,100 employees with an HR team of four

Buehler’s began with Dayforce in 2014. It now runs payroll, HR, benefits, workforce management, recruiting, onboarding and learning on it. Its head of HR puts the HR department at four people for 2,100 employees. That is a full Dayforce suite, not learning alone.

JB Poindexter’s 8,500-plus employees can reach a large course catalogue

JB Poindexter has over 8,500 employees across 68 locations. They can reach a large catalogue of courses and training programmes in Dayforce Learning. Courses and training are curated directly in the Dayforce mobile app.

La Vie en Rose groups learners by role across 365 locations

La Vie en Rose has 270 locations in Canada and 95 in 16 other countries. It uses Dayforce for learning and creates learning groups by employee role.

Dayforce’s consultants set it up with your administrators

You must buy Dayforce Learning. A Dayforce representative must then enable it. Dayforce implementation consultants and your administrators set it up. Plan for your administrators’ time as well as Dayforce’s fees.

Extra purchases, a progress reset and an alert that skips the manager

Two features need their own purchase

Career Explorer is only available to customers who buy its add-on. The Go1 Content Store is only available with a Content Store plan. Plans cover 25 courses, 50 courses or an unlimited number, called All Access.

Publishing a new course version resets unfinished learners

An administrator publishes a new version of a course. Assigned learners who have not finished it move to the new version, and they lose their progress. Replacing a retired Content Store course works the same way. The replacement goes to every learner who did not complete the original. Their progress on the original is lost.

Certificates from outside training stay inside Learning

Administrators can upload certificates for training delivered outside Dayforce. Dayforce adds them to the same list and marks them as external. Those certificates are not added to the employee’s learning profile. They are not visible to managers and administrators outside Dayforce Learning.

The past-due alert goes to the employee

Dayforce runs an automatic check for past-due enrolments. It sends the Course Deadline Past Due notice to employees. Its Manager Alert setting reads “Not used”. A separate notice before the deadline goes to the assigned employee’s manager.

Choosing OpenSesame closes the Go1 store

Turning on OpenSesame removes access to the Go1 Content Store. Courses already imported stay active. Courses from OpenSesame reach the catalogue after a sync. The sync runs every 24 hours.

Dayforce can change the AI tools

Dayforce may modify, suspend or remove its AI features, insights or output. It may do so for legal, security, compliance, operational or third-party reasons. The customer is responsible for the data and prompts it submits. The AI features are not intended to be the only basis for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Dayforce’s list of those decisions includes training or career opportunities. Keep a person in any decision about someone’s training or career.

Leaving costs fees and runs on a 90-day clock

Under the agreement linked to Dayforce’s G-Cloud 14 listing, a client can end the contract on written notice. It must pay any applicable early termination fee. The fee is set out in a document called the Service Particulars. Under the same listing, a data extract in SQL, XLS or CSV is available on termination, and extract fees apply. Databases that hold personal information are deleted within 90 days unless the customer buys extended access. Backups are kept for one year.

Accessibility is only partly met

Dayforce is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. That is the usual web accessibility standard. Ask which parts of Learning fall outside it.

A published price per employee, with three other price sources beside it

Dayforce Learning is $56.76 per employee per year on Dayforce’s published price book. Dayforce also prices these items on the same book, each per employee per year.

Two other Dayforce sources give a different picture. A file Dayforce publishes for AI assistants puts pricing as not publicly available and needing a consultation. The same file calls pricing per employee per month and modular. Separately, Dayforce EMEA Limited gives a price of £12.75 to £30.00 a person a month on its G-Cloud 14 listing. On that listing, Dayforce is a cloud HR platform. It combines HR, payroll, benefits, workforce management and talent management in a single application. Under the G-Cloud pricing document, anything extra is added on to the base prices. Ask which figure your contract uses, in which currency and for which period.

Dayforce’s Master Services Agreement is version 1.12, dated February 2024. It is linked to that G-Cloud listing. Under it, the Order Form sets the length of each service term. Dayforce’s total liability is capped at what the client paid in the 12 months before the loss. So the order form fixes how long you pay, and the cap is a year of what you paid. Dayforce may charge a late payment fee of 1% per month. Under that listing, Dayforce guarantees 99.75% uptime as part of its SLA, the service level agreement.

What to ask Dayforce before you sign

Which classic features need Coach and Share, and what does it cost? Good answer: A named list with a price on the order form.
What does the $56.76 count, everyone on payroll or only the people who take training? Good answer: A counting rule in writing.
Do we need the $171.96 Dayforce Platform package to use Learning? Good answer: A clear yes or no, with the price.
What do Builder and Language Packs add to Learning? Good answer: A written list of what each adds.
Can our Content Store plan move from 25 to 50 courses, or to All Access, during the term? Good answer: Yes, with the price written in.
When we publish a new course version, can unfinished learners keep their progress? Good answer: Yes, or a named way to keep it.
Can managers and administrators outside Learning see certificates we upload for outside training? Good answer: Yes, in the reports they already use.
Will a manager get an alert when a course is past due? Good answer: Yes, and who sets it.
Which price applies to us, the price book, your AI-assistant file or the G-Cloud range? Which currency and period? Good answer: One figure, with currency and period, in the order form.
What are the implementation fees, and how many of our people do you need for how many months? Good answer: A fixed fee and a timeline.
Does our contract use the agreement linked to your G-Cloud listing? What is the early termination fee, and what does a data extract cost? Good answer: Yes or no, and both figures written down.
Will you give notice before you remove or change an AI feature we use? Good answer: A notice period in writing.

Alternatives to Dayforce Learning, including buying nothing

If Dayforce Learning does not fit, look at eloomi, TalentLMS and LinkedIn Learning. Buying nothing is a fourth route.

eloomi belongs to the same owner, and you can try it first. Dayforce completed its purchase of eloomi in February 2024. eloomi can be bought alone or inside Dayforce’s platform. Its Microsoft Marketplace plan offers a one-month free trial for up to 10 users. Prices on that plan run from 6 to 11 US dollars per subscription per month for 25 to 200 users.

TalentLMS expects a much faster set-up. Its view is that most small businesses could launch a portal in under a day. Dayforce gives months and internal people. Ask TalentLMS how long your own set-up would take. On an annual plan, Core for 1 to 40 users is $119 a month, charged $1,428 up front. Grow for 1 to 70 users is $229 a month. Ask which billing term that Grow price assumes.

A second library can replace a bigger Go1 plan. Dayforce sells Go1 content in plans of 25 courses, 50 courses or unlimited courses. The unlimited plan sits in a $210.00 package per employee per year. Customers can instead connect their own LinkedIn Learning account through a course-file standard called AICC. LinkedIn Learning for Teams is $379.88 per seat per year. LinkedIn gives 22,000+ expert-led courses for the Teams plan on its compare-plans page. It gives 18,000+ on its Teams product page. Ask which count applies.

Buying nothing depends on what the $56.76 counts. Dayforce prices Learning per employee. If that counts everyone on payroll, the bill follows headcount rather than the number of learners. The Platform package may add to it. Say most of your staff never take a required course. A price on every employee then pays for people who never train. Set the bill against what your current way of tracking training costs you. Asks 2 and 3 settle the bill first.
