Engagedly’s Performance Suite costs $5 to $8 a person a month, with a $7,500 yearly minimum

Engagedly Performance Reviews runs self reviews, manager reviews, rating review meetings and goal-linked reviews. An AI assistant called Marissa drafts and checks review comments. Engagedly sells learning, engagement and pay tools as separate suites. Under its Terms of Service, Engagedly’s liability for direct damages is capped at $50. A second terms page sets a different limit. Read both before you sign.

Engagedly Performance Reviews in short

In one line

Engagedly Performance Reviews brings goals, feedback and 360 feedback into one review form. Managers use the form to rate people. Marissa, its AI assistant, helps write and check the comments.

Buy it if

You want one vendor for reviews and also for learning, engagement surveys, pay and career tools. You want a price range on the website. You want different groups to run reviews on different calendars.

Do not buy it if

You need a written promise that the service stays up. Under its Terms of Service, Engagedly does not promise that. You need a liability limit above $50. Under those terms the limit is $50. Do not sign the public terms as they stand. Ask which terms apply. Also get a clear answer on how the AI uses your data.

Price

$5 to $8 per user a month, billed yearly, with a minimum of $7,500 a year. At 500 people that comes to $30,000 to $48,000 a year. Your price may vary with headcount and with which suites you bundle.

How a review round runs, what Marissa the AI does and what it connects to

Reviews and ratings

A review round has self reviews, manager reviews and a sign-off. You choose how the rating works. An administrator picks a numeric rating or a verbal rating and sets up a grading scale. The questions can be text, a list, a single choice, several choices or a star rating. You can add sections of your own to the form.

You choose the order too. In a sequential review the manager starts only after the employee submits a self review. In a parallel review both fill in their forms at the same time. Real-time feedback and 360 feedback inform the review conversation. 360 feedback collects views from several colleagues. Goal progress from Goals and OKRs also feeds in. OKRs stands for objectives and key results.

The final rating is a weighted average of the section ratings. Engagedly puts it on the scale you set for the round. You define the weights. Rounds can follow a focal date, a hire date or a work anniversary.

Rating review meetings

Engagedly calls the rating review step calibration. After managers submit, leaders, administrators and managers can change performance ratings and leadership potential ratings. The changed rating becomes the final one. If nobody changes it, the manager’s rating stays final. Publishing then makes the ratings visible to employees.

Managers do not see the calibration discussions or the rating changes. Only administrators see the whole process. By default, every site administrator can view every employee’s review form and rating. A nine-box grid plots each person’s performance rating against their leadership potential rating.

Marissa, the AI assistant

Marissa can write a review comment when the reviewer’s own comment is short. When a comment is short or vague, Marissa builds a balanced, structured reply. It uses the employee’s profile, role and performance data. Marissa may make errors. Engagedly advises you to check its answers before you use them for critical information or decisions. Decide who checks Marissa’s text before a review is submitted.

On the review form, an insights panel sums up the employee’s goals, feedback, praise and growth. An assistant in each comment box reads the reviewer’s text. It flags vague language and language that may be biased. A reviewer can also ask Marissa to draft a full comment in a tone they choose. The draft rests on the reviewer’s input and the employee’s data.

Marissa summarises 360 feedback comments. Once a summary is saved, the employee and the manager can only view that summary. The Performance Agent helps employees write self reviews and gives leaders insights.

The Performance Agent identifies high performers and highlights employee risk categories. It gives ratings by factors such as gender, ethnicity and management level. Engagedly’s analytics report the average normalised rating by race or ethnicity. Normalised means the ratings are put on one scale so they can be compared.

Marissa is not available on the mobile app. It uses only data from Engagedly’s supported apps and integrations.

Meetings, systems and set-up

The Performance Suite includes one-to-one meetings. A meeting notetaker records meetings and produces notes and insights. The notetaker set-up guide has it on by default when an organiser creates a meeting. It joins at the scheduled time and the organiser lets it in. The notetaker FAQ has it off until someone switches it on while scheduling each meeting. Ask which is true for your account.

Engagedly connects to BambooHR, Personio, Paylocity, Namely, Gusto, Deel, Paychex, ZenHR and HiBob. Each one copies employee data into Engagedly. Once connected, the data updates every 24 hours. BambooHR is switched on by contacting Engagedly support. Okta keeps staff accounts and profile details in sync automatically.

Slack displays Engagedly notifications and lets people take some actions there. Jira and Salesforce feed goal progress into Engagedly goals. A bot in Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Slack lets people share feedback and update goals. The screens come in many languages. To see where Engagedly sits among review tools, start with our guide to performance management software.

What Engagedly does well

Each group can run its own review round

Different teams or groups can run rounds at the same time. Rounds can be annual, focal-date, hire-date, anniversary or promotion reviews. A focal-date round puts everyone on one calendar date. A hire-date or anniversary round follows each person’s own start date. You can mix them in one account.

An employee can dispute a review

An employee who disagrees with a review can raise a resolution request. That gives you a recorded route for a disagreement. You need a plan for who answers the request.

You decide whether the AI assistant is on

An administrator can switch Marissa, the AI assistant, on or off. An administrator can also switch each assistant on or off. Marissa hides personal details before it sends data to outside AI models. Marissa gives each person only the data their role allows. Administrators see company-wide data, managers see their team and employees see their own.

The price is on the website

Engagedly publishes a price range for the Performance Suite and a yearly minimum. You can work out a rough bill from the website. Some extra suites have published prices too.

Who uses Engagedly and what they report

In February 2022 the founders wrote that Engagedly had over 400 customers in more than 30 countries. The results below come from Engagedly’s own customer stories.

Experian Data Quality now reviews in four weeks

The company used Engagedly. Its review time fell from four months to four weeks.

Rudolph and Sletten left paper and now finish every review

The firm did paper evaluations before. After the move, the share of reviews finished rose from 33% to 100%.

Two customers report that every review gets done

Purdys Chocolatier reports that every annual review gets done. It reports the same for every quarterly check-in. VEIC reports that every review was finished in each of seven rounds.

Altisource moved to quarterly reviews

The company now runs quarterly reviews on Engagedly. It also uses automation to track performance.

Customers range from 15 people to over 1,000

Blackspoke started on Engagedly with 15 employees. It used quarterly check-ins and annual reviews. Coupa has more than 1,000 employees. Coupa reports 10% more compliance after it made its review process simpler.

The contract terms and data settings to read before you sign

The review forms are flexible, and the contract pages need a close read. Take these points to your first call with Engagedly.

Two terms pages give two different liability limits

Under the Terms of Service, Engagedly caps its liability for direct damages at $50. A second terms page limits each side’s liability to the amounts paid in the twelve months before a claim. That limit has some exceptions. Ask which page applies to you. Put the answer in the order form.

Engagedly makes no promise of uptime under its Terms of Service

Under its Terms of Service, Engagedly does not promise the service will be secure or available at any particular time. Under the same terms, Engagedly may end your access at any time, with or without cause or notice. Under the second terms page, either side may end the agreement on written notice, effective immediately.

You carry the responsibility for decisions made with it

Under the Terms of Service you assume responsibility for decisions made with the service. Engagedly has no control over your HR practices. It has no control over your decisions on employment, promotion, advancement, termination or pay. You are solely responsible for checking that you follow the laws that apply to you. Have whoever signs contracts read this before the Performance Agent’s ratings feed a decision.

Engagedly keeps rights to your usage data and a licence to anonymised data

You keep ownership of what you enter or upload. Engagedly keeps the rights to transactional and performance data about how you use the service. Under the second terms page, Engagedly holds a perpetual, irrevocable licence. The licence lets it anonymise your data. It can add that data to the anonymised data it holds. On its AI page, Engagedly says it trains its AI models on three kinds of data. They are industry benchmarks, anonymised employee interaction patterns and organisation-specific context data. Its Marissa help article rules out customer data for training. Ask for one written answer.

The main data region is in the United States, and processing may happen elsewhere

Under the data processing agreement, Engagedly may process data in the United States. It may also process data anywhere it or its sub-processors operate. Sub-processors are the outside companies Engagedly passes data to. Amazon Web Services is one. Its main region is US East 1 and its second region is US West 2. Engagedly updates the list at least 30 days before it uses a new one. Marissa runs on OpenAI and Google Gemini models.

Engagedly announced a merger with Energage in July 2026

Energage announced its merger with Engagedly on 14 July 2026. Engagedly bought theEMPLOYEEapp in November 2023. It bought Butterfly.ai in September 2025. Under the Terms of Service, Engagedly may pass its rights and duties to another company without your consent. Ask who will sign and support your contract.

You cannot delete a review round

An administrator cannot delete a review round once it exists. They can archive it. Engagedly’s support team deletes one on request. Plan for that if a round is set up by mistake or holds data you must remove.

What Engagedly costs, what is included and how you leave

The Performance Suite costs $5 to $8 per user a month, billed yearly. The price may vary with your employee count and with how many suites you bundle. The minimum is $7,500 a year. At $5 a person that minimum covers 125 people. At $8 it covers about 78 people. Below 78 people the minimum always applies. Between 78 and 125 people it depends on the rate. At 500 people the range may come to $30,000 to $48,000 a year.

The Performance Suite holds Performance Reviews. These include 30-60-90 day reviews, goals linked to reviews, anniversary or focal-date reviews, a nine-box assessment and advanced calibration. The suite also holds one-to-one meetings. A basic services package covers set-up, training and ongoing support. It is part of every purchase.

Marissa and the other AI assistants cost nothing extra today. Availability and pricing may change. All customers can use Marissa at no extra cost for a limited period. Enterprise pricing is custom.

Other suites cost extra. Manage Compensation is $10 per user a month, billed yearly. The Learning Suite is $3 to $5. A Talent Mobility Suite covers development plans, career paths, skill gap analysis, talent discovery and succession planning. An Engage and Listen Suite covers engagement surveys. Development plans come through its Growth product, not the Performance Suite.

During the term, administrators and managers can export review forms as PDF. Administrators can schedule reports to land in a secure file transfer folder. After the term, Engagedly returns or deletes your data on request under the data processing agreement. That holds up to the end date and for 90 days after. The second terms page gives you access to your data for 120 days after the contract ends. Ask which figure applies.

You could also run review steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

  3. Do you use our data to train any AI model, including anonymised data and interaction patterns? Good answer: A written no for every model, with the same wording in the contract.
  4. Does the meeting notetaker start only when a person switches it on for that meeting? Good answer: Off by default, switched on only by an administrator, with a consent message every guest sees.
  5. The Performance Agent gives ratings by gender, ethnicity and management level. Which employee details does it use, and who can see them? Good answer: A named list of fields, access by role and a way to switch the view off.

Alternatives to Engagedly

Five other review tools to price against Engagedly are 15Five, Betterworks, Leapsome, PerformYard and Culture Amp.

Perform from 15Five costs $11 per user a month, billed yearly. Perform covers performance reviews, 360 feedback and talent reviews. It links review data to pay and promotion decisions. The Kona Notetaker add-on costs $2 more per employee a month.

Betterworks Performance costs $8 per user a month. Implementation is a one-time cost on top. The Performance and Talent Intelligence package costs $9 and adds succession and skills tools. The Performance price matches the top of Engagedly’s range.

Leapsome Performance Reviews costs EUR 7 per employee a month. Every Leapsome plan includes the Leapsome platform. Discounts depend on how many products and employees you have. PerformYard costs $5 to $15 per person a month, with no fee for onboarding or training. Culture Amp prices Perform by quote. The price depends on employee count, product and service tier.

Buying nothing is also an option. If your HR system already has reviews, price that first. BambooHR includes 360 review cycles in its Pro plan, at $17 to $17.50 per employee a month. A company under 78 people would pay Engagedly’s $7,500 minimum at any price in its range. Compare that figure with your current tools before you ask for a quote.
