Pigment

Pigment is a business planning platform for Finance, sales, supply chain and HR teams. Its Workforce Planning template is a starting model for strategic workforce planning that you adapt. We would demo it if your Finance team already plans on Pigment. Pigment quotes on request. The main risk is the build, because someone must design your plan on Pigment before it gives answers.

Demo it if Finance already uses Pigment and someone can build

In one line

Pigment suits HR when Finance already plans on it, but someone must first build your plan.

Buy it if

Your Finance team already plans on Pigment, so HR can plan on the same platform. You want to start small, with one part of the template at a time.

Do not buy it if

You cannot spare anyone to adapt the Workforce Planning template to your business. Look at Nakisa, Visier, TalentNeuron or Dayforce instead. Each comes with its planning method built. You need Pigment to link to Workday, HiBob, Greenhouse or Lever today.

Price

Pigment quotes on request. Some templates cost extra, so ask about Workforce Planning.

It gives you a starting model for headcount, staff costs and scenarios

Workforce Planning is one of the ready-made templates in Pigment's Template Library. The template plans current and future headcount and the cost of your staff. Pigment's workforce planning also covers skills, promotions and hiring, so you can plan these beside headcount and cost. You can also use any part of the template on its own, so you can start small.

You can run scenarios on hiring or pay plans and compare the results before you decide. The template tracks employee costs by adding up salary, bonus, benefits and payroll taxes. The template can also add other company costs such as rent, software and travel.

Pigment helps you find what drives people to leave in business-critical functions. Pigment describes no prediction about a named employee. In the EU, GDPR treats predicting a named employee's performance as profiling. Ask Pigment in writing whether any feature predicts anything about a named employee.

Carta, a customer with more than 1,800 employees, runs a rolling 12-month workforce forecast in Pigment. Carta's teams review headcount and approve salary budgets in Pigment each quarter.

HR and Finance share one plan, with access limited by department

  • HR, Finance and business teams can work on one workforce plan and chat inside it. Budget owners see only their own department's data and people. The limit keeps sensitive data away from other teams.
  • You can draw your org chart in Pigment and model a new structure before you change it.
  • Keolis plans Finance and HR together in Pigment, with data from more than 100 subsidiaries. Keolis cut key calculations from 3 hours to 30 minutes.

Someone must build your plan, and four HR links are still planned

  • Carta took 12 weeks to set Pigment up. Carta built it with Pigment's own modelling team, not an outside firm.
  • Pigment lists its links to the HR and recruiting systems Workday, HiBob, Greenhouse and Lever as "On the Roadmap". That label means the links are not available yet. Its links to the accounting systems NetSuite, Sage Intacct and SAP are listed as available. Settle how your HR data will reach Pigment before you sign.

Choose Frankfurt if your people data must stay in the EU

Pigment stores your data in the region you choose, Frankfurt in Germany or Oregon in the USA.

Pigment quotes on request, and the template may cost extra

Ask for one written quote that covers the platform, the template and any help to build your plan.

Some Pigment templates cost extra, and others come at no extra cost. So the Workforce Planning template needs its own line on your quote.

Your agreement with Pigment runs for as long as any order form is live. You must export your own data before the agreement ends, at no extra charge. Pigment deletes your personal data within three months of the agreement ending.

You could also build a workforce plan on your own HR and finance systems. We have mapped what that looks like. See it step by step

What should you ask Pigment before you sign?

  1. Who would build our workforce plan, and how many weeks would it take? Good answer: a named team and a week count, in writing.
  2. Does the Workforce Planning template cost extra on top of the platform? Good answer: a plain yes or no, with the figure.
  3. Is help from Pigment's modelling team included in the quote, or priced on its own? Good answer: a plain answer, written into the order form.
  4. Which links to HR systems, such as Workday, HiBob, Greenhouse or Lever, are live today? Good answer: the named systems, tested in the demo.
  5. Can an approved plan go back into our HR system, or does Pigment only read from it? Good answer: a plain answer, shown in the demo.
  6. How many scenarios can we compare at once in the Workforce Planning template? Good answer: a number, shown in the demo.
  7. How long does the first order form run, and how do we end it? Good answer: a term and a notice period, in writing.
  8. In what file format can we export our plans and scenarios if we leave? Good answer: a named format, shown in the demo.

Alternatives to Pigment

The main alternatives are Anaplan, Workday Adaptive Planning, Orgvue, Nakisa, Visier, TalentNeuron and Dayforce.

Anaplan, Workday Adaptive Planning and Orgvue are platforms you build a plan on, like Pigment.

  • Your own team or a partner builds the plan on Anaplan. BT has run its workforce planning models on Anaplan for about five years.
  • A setup wizard links Workday Adaptive Planning to Workday HCM. Ask Workday who builds the plan.
  • You build your plan on Orgvue with its own consultants, called Expert Services, or with a partner. Orgvue's Order Forms add 7% a year to the price through the term.

If you want a planning method already built, look at Nakisa, Visier, TalentNeuron or Dayforce.

  • Nakisa gives you a named planning method, and you load your data and set the numbers it runs on.
  • Visier comes with four ready planning models, including headcount and cost, and skills.
  • TalentNeuron offers a wizard-led method built on its own job market data.
  • Dayforce Strategic Workforce Planning is a ready planning tool inside the Dayforce HR suite, for companies that run Dayforce.
Sources and method Everything here about Pigment comes from Pigment's own website. That includes its HR and workforce use case, its headcount planning use case, its templated-applications page, its integrations page, its AI-facing fact sheet, its Carta customer story, its Master Subscription Agreement, its Data Processing Addendum, its security page and its Series D announcement. What Pigment publishes about its own product is taken as a true description of that product. Every source was read on 26 September 2026, and quotations are word for word. Where Pigment's own customer-story page for Figma gives two different employee counts for the same company, neither number is used here. A third-party pricing site's figure for Pigment is not used either, since it comes from anonymised deal data, not from Pigment. A general web search for UK and US government contracts found none that names Pigment. Facts about Anaplan, Workday Adaptive Planning, Orgvue, Nakisa, Visier, TalentNeuron and Dayforce come from this guide's research on each. That research is current as of 26 September 2026.
