Deel
Deel’s ATS turns a hire into one Deel employee record, with AI that suggests and scores while people decide. Its pages disagree on whether it needs Deel HR and whether rules can filter people out. Get those answers, and one price, in writing. You can also keep another ATS and hand hires to Deel.
Deel’s ATS is built to end in one employee record
Deel’s ATS takes a hire from an approved job to onboarding inside Deel. AI helps along the way, and people make the final decisions.
Your HR records and payroll already sit in Deel. You want a hire to become an employee record without re-typing. You are happy for a person to review every AI score.
You need it on another HR system and have no written yes from Deel. You cannot accept any rule that may reject a person before a human looks.
Deel puts $14 per worker per month on the Find talent card of its Hire pricing. A Deel blog table gives the ATS as from $10 per employee per month. Ask which price covers the ATS. Deel offers month-to-month pricing with no long-term commitment.
A job becomes an employee record, with AI help on the way
You pay for a path, so here is the path one hire takes through Deel’s ATS. It starts with a role. Approved roles from Workforce Planning arrive in the ATS as job requisitions. One click posts a job to more than 1,000 connected job boards. Jobs also go to LinkedIn from the ATS. A person who applies appears at once as a lead on that open job.
Every hiring process in Deel follows three core stages, and each has required sub-stages. Interviews are booked by email. Deel sends the candidate a calendar link with the interviewer’s live availability. Both calendars then update on their own, with no outside tool such as Calendly. Admins build the feedback forms, and interviewers leave notes and recommendations.
The path ends with an offer. Once an offer exists, the admin can send the candidate an automated email. A candidate can view the offer without signing up. An accepted offer moves the candidate to hired. Otherwise the candidate moves to archived. Candidate data then flows through the ATS into onboarding with one employee record.
Deel’s AI works at four points on that path. It helps write job descriptions and compensation ranges. It finds candidates in your own talent pool and in connected outside sources such as LinkedIn. It matches each applicant to the job. It also runs first-round screens against criteria you set.
Matching compares a candidate’s CV and application answers with the job description and your criteria. Stronger matches rank higher. AI-driven screening is optional and uses only what the candidate submitted. Your team reviews all results and decides who moves forward.
The AI Interview Assistant records interviews with candidate consent. It transcribes and summarises each one. Roles control who sees the result. A Hiring Manager can view the AI-generated notes. A Participant can use the assistant but cannot view the AI notes afterwards. With ATS Pro, the assistant can also create a searchable transcript and a summary from it.
Reports cover time to hire, candidate-to-offer ratios, offer acceptance rates and funnel drop-off points. Teams can also see which sources deliver the best candidates and the top reasons for declining offers. Those two views show where hiring loses people.
Deel also connects to the ATS you may already own. Deel-built integrations push candidates from Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Personio, Workday and Workable into Deel for onboarding. For Greenhouse and Ashby, the other ATS sends Deel an automatic alert when an offer is created, updated or deleted. Deel documents a link other software can use to read and send jobs, candidates, applications, pipeline stages and offers. It calls that an ATS API.
Our guide to applicant tracking systems covers how the rest of this market handles the same steps.
One record, criteria you can check and privacy rules you set
A Head of HR gains most where an ATS saves work or lowers risk. Four points do that on Deel, and each one comes from how the ATS is built.
A hire turns into one employee record
Deel’s ATS passes candidate data through to onboarding as one employee record. The hire moves on inside the same system. Teams already on Deel HR can turn the ATS on. Turning it on is not a new implementation.
You can see and change the criteria behind a score
A candidate or a regulator may ask why someone was ranked high or low. Deel’s AI suggests selection criteria from the job description. They are visible and adjustable before matching runs, so a person can check them first. The matching score leaves out personal identifiers.
The employer sets the privacy rules
The employer controls the settings that decide what you can promise candidates. The employer decides what data is collected, how long it is kept and when it is deleted. The ATS has custom permissions, role-based approvals and configurable candidate privacy options. Deel is ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certified and SOC 2 audited. Customer data is never used to train AI models.
It works with Google and Microsoft calendars and email
The candidate books into the interviewer’s live availability. The hiring team needs no separate booking tool. Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams are built into the ATS for scheduling. The ATS also integrates with a Microsoft Azure account for interview scheduling. With the Outlook connection, all candidate messages go out from the company’s own Outlook accounts.
Deel’s own pages leave open whether it works without Deel HR
Two of the biggest open questions on Deel come from its own pages disagreeing. Ask Deel to settle each one in writing before you sign. The law adds one more point. Under the EU AI Act, AI that filters applications or evaluates candidates is among the high-risk uses. Article 6(3) can lift that label in some cases. Deel places its ATS candidate scoring in the high-risk group. Deel adds that the final hiring decision requires human judgment at every stage. It also notes that no tool eliminates bias by default.
Deel’s pages differ on whether the ATS needs Deel HR
On one page, Deel makes Deel HR the required foundation of the ATS. In a blog, Deel calls the ATS part of Deel HR and not a standalone product. In another blog post, many teams run Deel’s hiring system next to their existing HR system for years. Deel supports selected outside HR systems. Ask Deel which applies to you before you plan around any of these.
Deel’s AI guide gives two answers on filtering
You need to know which rules reject a person before a human sees them. Deel’s AI ATS guide answers that in two ways. In one place, the ATS does not filter any candidates and scores stronger matches higher. In another, AI-generated knock-out questions (must-have screening questions) filter out candidates who miss minimum requirements. Ask Deel to list every one of those rules.
Recording consent is your job
Deel tells candidates before recording starts, and they can opt out. Customers are responsible for getting consent to record interviews under local law. Deel’s position on GDPR is that compliance depends on how the ATS is set up and on applicable law. You set retention schedules by jurisdiction and document how you handle deletion requests.
Outside access and outside providers can touch candidate data
The Google Workspace connection reads the Gmail messages of selected hiring members. It also sends email on their behalf. Pick those members with whoever handles data protection for you. In a June 2026 webinar, a Deel Senior Compliance Manager said Deel AI is built on ChatGPT functionality. Ask which outside providers touch candidate data.
The AI Vetted Marketplace covers select roles in the US, UK and India
The AI Vetted Marketplace is a paid plan in Deel Talent. Its candidates can sync into an ATS pipeline when both are enabled. It is limited to select roles in the US, UK and India. Access needs an active paid plan that your Deel Customer Success Manager activates.
It suits teams that already hire and pay through Deel
Deel’s ATS hands each hire on as one Deel employee record. Fit with Deel’s ATS depends first on where your people records live today.
Teams that already run HR and payroll in Deel
Deel presents its ATS as part of Deel HR. That product connects workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, HR and payroll. For a team already there, the hire flows into onboarding in the same system.
Teams that keep another HR system
Whether this fits depends on Deel’s written answer about your systems. Deel supports integrations with selected platforms, and those may not include yours. Ask for the exact platforms and which way the data moves.
Agency recruiters working for several clients
Agency recruiters contact candidates for several clients. With ATS Pro they get one workspace instead of a separate subscription and login for every account.
Teams that want faster hiring and a streamlined process for candidates and managers
Deel quotes the People Operations Manager of Skylink Inc. on faster hiring and on the process for both groups. Their words were “ATS 100% helps us hire faster” and “a polished, streamlined process for candidates and hiring managers”. The quote gives no figures, so ask for numbers from a company like yours.
Two Deel prices to reconcile, and Pro is its own tier
Price needs care because Deel gives more than one number, and leaving needs a plan before you start. Begin with the numbers. Deel puts $14 per worker per month on the Find talent card of its Hire pricing. The same tab includes AI-powered screening, offer generation and interview scheduling. A Deel blog comparison table gives the ATS as “From $10 per employee per month”. Ask which price covers the ATS and which features each number includes. Also ask who counts as a worker and who counts as an employee.
Deel sells the ATS as an add-on to any HR plan. Deel offers month-to-month pricing with no long-term commitments. Requisitions come from Workforce Planning. Deel tells clients to request access to that feature from its team. Ask whether it costs extra.
ATS Pro is its own tier. It includes everything in the ATS plus a premium layer of AI. Deel sells Pro as one bundle on one bill, and it replaces separate sourcing, screening and interview tools. Existing customers can move to Pro at any time. Ask for its price in writing before you compare it with those tools.
The AI Vetted Marketplace needs its own paid plan. Those plans are billed monthly and the qualified candidate allowance does not roll over.
While you use the ATS, the employer controls what data is collected. It also controls how long data is kept and when it is deleted. Customers set retention schedules by jurisdiction and document how they handle deletion requests. Leaving is a separate question for you. Ask how records, notes and AI summaries come out in bulk, and in which file format. The link other software can use to read candidates, the ATS API, is one route to ask about.
You could also run hiring steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Ten questions for the demo
- Can the ATS run for us without Deel HR? Which of our current HR systems does it connect to? Good answer: A written yes or no for our case, with the systems named.
- Which one price applies to the features we will use, and who counts as a worker or employee? Good answer: One written price per person per month for our features, with the counting rule.
- Do we need Workforce Planning to open a job, and does it cost extra? Good answer: A clear yes or no, and a price if it costs extra.
- Which rules can reject a candidate before a person looks, and who sets them? Good answer: A full list of those rules, with a report of who each one rejected.
- Which outside AI providers handle candidate data, and in which countries? Good answer: A named provider and country for each, and a line we can give a candidate.
- How do we record interview consent in each country we hire in? Good answer: A consent record on every candidate profile, with the wording used.
- What does the Gmail connection read, for whom, and how do we switch it off? Good answer: Only the accounts of chosen hiring members, with a clear off switch.
- What does ATS Pro cost, and what does it replace? Good answer: A written price, and the tools we can stop paying for.
- Does the AI Vetted Marketplace cover the roles and countries we hire in? Good answer: A written list of covered roles and countries, before we pay.
- How do candidate records, notes and AI summaries come out in bulk if we leave? Good answer: A named file format and a time window, in the contract.
Alternatives to Deel
If Deel comes off your shortlist, you have two routes. The first is to keep or pick a separate ATS and hand the hire to Deel. Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workable and Workday Recruiting each have a Deel-built integration for onboarding. This route lets you judge hiring software on its own merits. The trade is two systems, so ask each vendor who owns the candidate record.
The second route is an ATS inside one HR platform, as with Deel. Rippling Recruiting is part of Rippling’s all-in-one platform. When a candidate accepts, their information creates an employee record in the HRIS and starts onboarding. BambooHR’s ATS runs from job posting to onboarding. Candidate details from the ATS fill in the Add Employee form. Compare which of them covers the countries you hire in. Our market guide sets out how to choose among all of them.
