Rippling

Rippling Recruiting is a full hiring tool that works only inside Rippling’s HR platform. So the real decision is whether to choose Rippling for HR. Its strength is the path from approved headcount to employee record. Before you sign, check which features need the Pro edition. Also check the quoted Recruiting price, two AI features not yet live and US-only data hosting.

Rippling Recruiting comes with Rippling’s HR platform, not alone

In one line

Rippling Recruiting is the hiring part of Rippling’s HR platform. It needs the core Rippling platform alongside it.

Buy it if

Rippling already runs your HR records, or you are ready to move them. You want an accepted offer to turn into an employee record in the same system.

Do not buy it if

You want a hiring tool without changing your HR system. You need a price before you talk to sales, because Rippling prices Recruiting by quote.

Price

Rippling Recruiting is priced per employee per month on top of the core platform. On its US pricing, Rippling plans start at $8 per employee per month with a monthly base fee. The $8 is where the HR platform starts, and Rippling prices Recruiting by quote.

What it handles between an approved job and a first day

The best way to judge Rippling Recruiting is to follow one hire. Its value sits in how each step feeds the next, so the order below is the order a hire takes.

A hire starts before the job opens, because approved headcount creates the requisition. Offboarding an employee starts a backfill in the same way. A requisition is an open position, and it can be open, draft or closed. It can require approvals, which approvers can give from Slack, email or the approvals tab. If headcount planning is set up, an over-budget requisition is blocked, so cost is checked first. A new requisition fills in the salary range from the role and level you choose.

Rippling then posts the job to over 25,000 job boards, with native LinkedIn and Indeed integrations. Candidates apply on your branded job board and can submit documents upfront. Resumes from candidates, recruiters and referrals fill in the candidate record in English and other languages, so recruiters retype less. A resume forwarded to a job’s email address becomes an application. Your team can move, email or reject candidates in bulk. It can also send two-way text messages. The pipeline stages are yours to change, and each stage has a count of candidates.

Interviews come next. You assign an interview panel and schedule from Rippling. Smart scheduling reads Office 365 or Google Workspace calendars and recommends slots. The candidate picks one, and Rippling adds the time to the interviewers’ calendars. Candidates can reschedule or cancel from their invite. Self-scheduling by email link is a Recruiting Pro feature. Custom rating forms give each interviewer structured questions and rating scales, so feedback comes back in the same shape.

Offers come from the same tool, so they start from data you already hold. Offer letters generate from candidate data, approved pay bands and approval steps. That means a recruiter does not build each offer from a blank page. Interactive offers show total pay including equity, and they need Recruiting Pro. Clicking Hire moves a candidate from final interview to offer to onboarding, and the headcount plan updates. When a candidate accepts, their details create an employee record in the HR system and start onboarding actions. Nobody has to enter the hire a second time. Referral bonuses pay out through payroll. Outside recruiters can submit candidates through an agency portal with job-specific permissions.

Reporting closes the loop. Standard reports cover pipeline metrics, time-to-fill, source effectiveness and offer acceptance. That tells you where hiring slows down.

Rippling adds AI to several steps, and some of it changes which candidates a recruiter reads first. Application Review is Rippling’s AI for screening. It evaluates resumes against criteria your hiring team defines. It gives a summary of why each candidate did or did not meet the requirements. So the recruiter gets the reason alongside the candidate. AI also writes job descriptions from the title, employment type and years of experience. It removes potentially biased language, so a recruiter starts from a draft.

Interview Assistant records interviews. It produces transcripts and AI summaries that live in the applicant tracking system. So a manager who missed an interview can still review it. A Silver Creek Materials recruiter reports that recordings help managers review key points. Interview Assistant is live for Recruiting Pro customers, so check your edition before you count on it. Interviewees can opt out of recordings, so a candidate who objects can say no. Rippling reports over 50,000 recorded interviews, and fewer than 3% of candidates opted out. You can set recording permissions and policies by role, department or location.

Rippling also uses AI after the interviews, to pull feedback together for the hiring decision. A separate AI feature turns interviewers’ feedback forms into a pros and cons summary. It appears on the candidate’s Feedback tab and in the approval step for a hiring decision. Rippling marks two more AI features as coming soon. They are AI Video Screens and applicant fraud detection with a fraud risk score.

Rippling Recruiting also connects to outside tools. A team that already uses Gem, BrightHire, HackerRank or Checkr can keep them alongside Rippling. Gem handles sourcing and outreach, and it pulls open requisitions, candidates and applications from Rippling. BrightHire records, transcribes and writes AI notes for phone and video interviews. HackerRank technical assessments are assigned in Rippling Recruiting, and the results link back to the candidate. Background checks run through Checkr and other screening providers. Rippling MCP is a connection that lets AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT work with Rippling data. What a person can read or change that way depends on their Rippling permissions and the policy an admin grants.

Where having hiring and HR in one system helps

The case for Rippling Recruiting rests on keeping hiring and HR in one system. Four things follow from that choice.

Hiring data can sit beside performance and tenure data

One system means one set of records to report from. Rippling lets you combine recruiting data with HR data such as performance and tenure in custom reports. Forterra’s Head of People and Talent reports that recruiting in Rippling makes performance management easier. Ask for a demo that builds one report across both.

Rippling can take some of the work out of approving offers

Approvals can slow an offer down, and a rule can speed up the routine ones. In its RFP template, Rippling auto-approves offers that meet pre-approved parameters. Pre-offer decisions can also go through a structured approval chain. Audit trails log recruiting actions, candidate access and data changes, so you can trace who did what. Ask who sets the parameters and who reviews them.

Rippling’s AI assistant asks before it acts

AI that acts on your data should ask before it changes anything. Rippling’s platform AI assistant asks for approval before it takes action. Changes the AI makes on a user’s behalf are queued for review and go through the company’s approvals. Ask whether the same step covers each recruiting AI feature you switch on.

Rippling’s security and privacy commitments

Candidate data is personal data, so the security paperwork matters. Rippling’s SOC 2 Type 2 report covers Security, Confidentiality and Availability, and it is audited annually. Rippling also has an ISO 42001 certification for AI management. It also complies with applicable privacy laws including GDPR and CCPA. Rippling acts as data processor for most customer data, so ask which data it does not process on your behalf. Ask to read the SOC 2 Type 2 report before you sign.

The platform, the plan tiers and the unfinished AI

Rippling Recruiting has five limits to weigh before you sign. The first one decides whether the rest matter to you.

You need the Rippling HR platform first

Rippling Recruiting cannot be used without the Rippling HR platform. Rippling sells each product separately, but only alongside that core platform. If you use another HR system today, you would move your HR records as well as your hiring. That makes this a bigger decision than choosing a hiring tool.

Some features need the Pro edition

Self-scheduling by email link is a Recruiting Pro feature. So are interactive offers. Interview Assistant is live for Recruiting Pro customers. Rippling also sells a Recruiting Core edition, so the edition you are quoted decides what you get. Ask Rippling for a written list of what Core includes.

Two AI features are marked as coming soon

Rippling marks AI Video Screens and applicant fraud detection as coming soon. Judge the product on what works today. If either one matters to you, ask for a date and a price in writing.

Knockout questions filter people out before they reach the review queue

Knockout questions are must-have screening questions. They are a rule that filters out candidates who do not meet basic requirements. Application Review also works on criteria your hiring team defines. A built-in check alerts you before you run a criterion that could screen out protected groups. Your team sets these rules, so your team needs to check what they do. Decide who writes them, who checks them and how often.

All data sits in US data centres

Rippling houses all data in US-based AWS data centres. Candidate records and interview recordings then sit in the US. If your candidates live in other countries, ask your lawyer whether that matters for your data rules.

Who Rippling’s own customer stories point to

Rippling publishes its own customer stories, so they point to the buyers it wants. Check which of the three looks like you, and remember that Rippling reports the results.

Companies that want hiring and HR in one system

Revology wanted one system it would not outgrow. Its CFO wanted something that worked at eight employees and would take the company to multiple thousands. Revology chose Rippling partly for its built-in applicant tracking system. Revology has 140+ employees, and Rippling reports 2+ hours saved per new hire there by automating onboarding. Rippling presents Recruiting as best for growing companies. It puts its platform’s fit at teams from 2 to 2,000+ people.

Companies that want a tool many other teams already use

Rippling counts thousands of companies as Rippling Recruiting customers, and Chess.com is one of them. Rippling’s own team of over a hundred recruiters uses it too. That suggests the tool works at volume. Ask Rippling for a reference whose hiring looks like yours.

Companies that switched from another hiring tool

Rippling reports these results from customers who use Rippling Recruiting. BTC Inc. used Lever before Rippling Recruiting. A BTC Inc. HR generalist writes on Rippling’s blog that automating scheduling and feedback follow-ups shortened the time to hire. Rippling reports that Harver cut ATS software costs in half after switching to Rippling Recruiting. It also reports that Harver made recruiting 2x more efficient and that Assembly Software created job requisitions 5x faster. Ask Rippling for a customer of your size that you can call.

What it costs, how it starts and how you leave

The real question on price is what Recruiting adds on top of the HR platform. Rippling sells each product separately, but always alongside the required core platform. Most products are billed per employee per month, and some include a monthly base fee. Rippling prices Recruiting by quote, and it uses per-employee, per-month pricing.

The reseller Generation Digital Limited offers Rippling on the UK government’s G-Cloud 15 marketplace. There, pricing is modular by product and headcount and needs a custom quote. Under that listing, the bill is a monthly base fee plus a fixed amount per employee. So ask which employees count toward the bill.

Be careful with the $8 you will see. On its US pricing, Rippling plans start at $8 per employee per month with a monthly base fee. That is where the HR platform starts. Recruiting is an add-on under modular pricing, and Rippling quotes it separately. So $8 is not the price of hiring software. Ask for the Recruiting line on its own.

Rippling has offered three months of Rippling Recruiting free, with terms behind an asterisk. On its US pricing, Rippling also offers a startup programme. It gives eligible US VC-backed startups free access for six months. Ask whether either offer applies to you today.

Setup starts with a guided flow. It covers permissions and job boards. It also covers calendars, the pipeline and team access. Rippling gives an implementation time of 1 to 3 weeks. In its RFP template, Rippling puts typical implementation at weeks, not months. Rippling also supports migration of candidate data, resumes and pipelines. Support is available by chat, email and phone, plus in-app help and onboarding support.

Leaving needs a plan before you sign. All reports download as spreadsheets. BTC Inc. reports that after it stopped using Lever, the data it had collected there became practically unusable. That is a warning for any hiring tool, including this one. Ask how you get your candidate data out in a usable form.

Buying on an Order Form means accepting the Customer Terms of Service, the privacy terms and the service-specific terms. Rippling also has AI Services Terms for AI technologies a customer chooses to use. Read all of these before you sign.

You could also run hiring steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Ten questions to put to Rippling before you sign

Most of the risk sits in four things only Rippling can settle in writing. They are the edition, the Recruiting price, where data sits and how you leave. The ten questions below cover those four, plus the AI features and the free offers.

  1. Do we get Recruiting Core or Recruiting Pro, and which features sit in each? Good answer: A written list that places self-scheduling, Interview Assistant and interactive offers.
  2. What is the price of the Recruiting line per employee per month, and which employees count? Good answer: A price with the monthly base fee and a clear rule for who is counted.
  3. Does the three-month free offer or the startup programme apply to us? Good answer: A yes or no in writing, with an end date and the price after.
  4. Where are candidate data and interview recordings stored, and who else handles them? Good answer: A named country for every system and a line we can give a candidate.
  5. Can we set Interview Assistant by role, department or location, and what does a candidate see? Good answer: Settings for each, and a candidate notice that we approve.
  6. How do we export every candidate, resume, note and recording when the contract ends? Good answer: A file format and a time window written into the contract.
  7. Can we see who changed a knockout question or a review criterion, and when? Good answer: A log with the person, the change and the date.
  8. Which AI Services Terms apply to the AI features we switch on? Good answer: A copy we can read before we switch on any AI feature.
  9. When will AI Video Screens and applicant fraud detection arrive, and are they in our price? Good answer: A date in writing and a price line for each.
  10. Can we read the SOC 2 Type 2 report before we sign? Good answer: The full report, shared before signing.

Alternatives to Rippling

Alternatives to Rippling include Deel, Paycor, Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workable, Teamtailor, Pinpoint and Breezy HR.

Start with the question Rippling forces. Do you want hiring inside your HR system, or do you want to pick a hiring tool first? Deel’s applicant tracking system runs from sourcing to offer to onboarding inside Deel. Paycor combines recruiting with AI job descriptions, candidate texting, automated offer letters and onboarding in one HCM platform. Both are worth pricing next to Rippling if you want one system for hiring and HR.

You may already run Rippling for HR and want a different hiring tool. Then the link between the two matters most, and the three tools differ. Greenhouse imports a candidate’s information and offer details into Rippling in one click. Pinpoint’s Rippling link is one way and sends new hire details to Rippling. Breezy HR exports candidates to Rippling to create employees. Ask each vendor to show a hire crossing into Rippling before you sign.

Ashby, Lever, Workable and Teamtailor suit you if you choose on hiring features first. Buying nothing is the last route. If you hire a few people a year, a shared inbox and a spreadsheet may be enough. Once several roles are open at once, a spreadsheet gets hard to keep accurate. Our guide to applicant tracking systems covers the whole market. The comparison page puts every product against the same questions.

Sources and method Everything here about Rippling comes from Rippling’s own website, blog, product pages, trust and legal pages and customer stories. A listing on the UK government’s G-Cloud marketplace from a reseller adds pricing wording. Rippling’s description of its own product is taken as a true description of that product.
