Rippling AI

Rippling AI is an AI assistant inside the Rippling platform. Employees and HR staff ask it questions in plain language, and it can start approvals from the chat. Each person only sees what they are allowed to see. In a Slack channel, though, everyone there can read its answer. Rippling sends a custom quote for the price.

Rippling AI answers HR, IT and payroll questions inside the Rippling platform

In one line

Rippling AI is the assistant inside Rippling. It answers HR, IT and payroll questions and starts requests, and a person confirms each action.

Buy it if

Your HR records already live in Rippling, or you are about to move there. You want staff to get answers about their own pay, leave and policy without writing to HR.

Do not buy it if

Your HR records sit in another system. You want staff to ask sensitive questions in shared Slack channels. Your company needs data held outside the United States.

Price

Rippling asks you to say what you need and sends a custom quote. Most Rippling products are billed per employee per month, and some add a monthly base fee.

Staff ask in plain words and it answers or starts the request

Rippling AI is a layer inside the Rippling platform. An employee types a question. They can ask how many days of annual leave they have left and what the policy says about carrying them over. Rippling AI explains personal pay, benefits and policy, so staff do not need to write to HR.

It does more than answer. Rippling AI can inspect payroll changes, see outstanding timesheets, solve employee requests and start approvals from the chat. Rippling’s time and attendance product adds built-in intelligence. It finds overtime risks, flags missed clock-ins and clock-outs, and submits and approves time off.

Staff reach it in two places. On the web, they type to it directly. In Slack, they tag it. Rippling AI for Slack lets staff ask HR, IT and payroll questions with the same data and permissions as Rippling itself. The web version works the same way. Slack adds one thing, which is that it gives Rippling AI the thread context automatically.

It also works with other systems. Plugins let it work with third-party tools. Where the tool supports it, Rippling AI can take a targeted action, such as sending a message.

Our guide to AI HR assistants shows how this compares with the rest of the market.

It follows your Rippling permissions and asks a person before it acts

It only shows people what they may already see

Rippling AI uses the permissions you have already set in Rippling. Every answer is limited to what the person asking is allowed to see. You do not build a second set of access rules for the assistant.

A person confirms every action before it happens

When Rippling AI proposes an action, someone must confirm it first.

Your usage data is not used to train its AI models

Your usage data is not used to train AI models. Ask for the same wording in your contract.

It reaches beyond HR into other tools

Rippling AI connects to more than 60 outside tools, including Google Workspace, Slack, Teams, Outlook, Atlassian and GitHub. It also has plugins for Greenhouse, Gem, Ashby, Metaview, Deel and Symmetry Payroll. Admins can switch plugins on for staff by role or department.

Rippling is also a well-funded supplier. It has raised $1.8B from investors including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia and Bedrock. TechCrunch reported on 9 May 2025 that it raised $450 million at a $16.8 billion valuation. The company confirmed it.

Rippling customers of 24 and 60 people use it for quick answers

These three Rippling customers are small and wanted quick answers without a big HR team. If that is you, they are the closest match. In each one, someone asks a short question and gets a finished answer. Ask Rippling for a reference at your own size.

A 24-person company asked one question and got a workforce report

NinjaTech AI is a technology company with 24 employees. One plain-language prompt returned a complete, multi-currency workforce report in under 100 seconds.

A 60-person manufacturer asked who might leave

Dude Wipes is a US manufacturer with 60 employees. Someone typed three words, “Who’s a flight risk?”. Rippling AI built a scoring method, ranked 25 people at risk and named the top one in five minutes.

Ignite Reading found 19 strong performers at risk

Ignite Reading used Rippling AI to find 19 high-performing employees who might leave. It marked 6 of them as most urgent.

Anyone in a Slack channel can read the answer

Everyone in a Slack channel can read the answer

Rippling AI does not check who else is in a channel before it replies. Ask in a channel or a group message and everyone there sees the answer. That includes people with no access to Rippling AI. Rippling tells staff to use a direct message for anything sensitive. Tell your staff the same before you switch it on.

Microsoft Teams carries a waitlist note

Rippling’s AI page says staff can tag Rippling AI in Slack or Microsoft Teams. The Teams line carries a “Join the waitlist” footnote. If your company runs on Teams, ask Rippling whether your account can use it today.

It sits inside the Rippling Platform

Rippling sells each HR, Finance and IT product alongside its core Rippling Platform, which every customer needs. Rippling AI is a layer inside that platform. If your HR records live in another system, look at the alternatives below.

Your data sits in the United States

Rippling keeps all data in physically secure, US-based data centres across several availability zones. Check this against your own data rules before you sign.

Rippling quotes every price on request

Rippling asks you to say what services you need and sends you a custom quote. You will get a price for Rippling AI only from that quote.

Most Rippling products cost a set amount per employee per month. Some carry a monthly base fee as well. You buy each HR, Finance and IT product alongside the core Rippling Platform. Every customer needs the platform. Add the platform to your budget, then ask whether Rippling AI is a separate line.

You could also build the same steps on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Seven questions for the sales call

  1. Does Rippling AI cost extra on top of the Rippling products we already pay for? Good answer: A written price per employee per month, or a written statement that it is included.
  2. Can an admin stop Rippling AI from answering in shared Slack channels? Good answer: Yes, with a setting we control, and a direct message as the default for staff questions.
  3. Is Rippling AI in Microsoft Teams live for our account today? Good answer: A yes with a date it went live, not a place on a waitlist.
  4. Will you put “your usage data will not be used to train AI models” into our contract? Good answer: Yes, in the order form.
  5. Which AI model providers see our staff’s questions, and where do they process them? Good answer: A named list of providers with a named country for each.
  6. Can we hold our data outside the United States? Good answer: A named region we can choose, or a clear answer we can take to our data protection officer.
  7. How long do you keep what staff type into Rippling AI, and who at Rippling can read it? Good answer: A stated period and a short list of roles.

Alternatives to Rippling AI

If Rippling AI is not right for you, look at Workday Self-Service Agent, SAP Joule, Oracle Employee Concierge, UKG Bryte AI, ADP Assist, Workativ and Atomicwork. Buying nothing is also an option.

Workday, SAP, Oracle, UKG and ADP each sit on their own HR system. Pick one of those if your records already live there.

Workativ and Atomicwork both connect to Rippling. Workativ connects to Rippling and more than 100 other HR tools, and every integration reads and writes. Atomicwork connects to Rippling, and also to BambooHR, Workday, ADP and Gusto HR. Look at them if you want your assistant to sit outside one HR system.

Buying nothing means staff keep taking HR questions to the HR team. Count how many a month your team answers before you pay for an assistant.
