Your payroll runs on ADP Workforce Now, RUN Powered by ADP, ADP Vantage HCM, ADP TotalSource, ADP Enterprise HR or ADP Lyric HCM. Your employees already use Microsoft Teams.

Do not buy it if

Your payroll is with a provider that is not on that list. Look at an assistant that connects to your own system instead.

Employees ask in Microsoft Teams and ADP Assist does the routine work

ADP Assist for Microsoft Teams brings ADP’s HR and payroll help into the chat window your employees already use. An employee types a question or a request. The assistant answers, or does the task for them.

Employees can update their personal information, open documents and check balances without leaving Teams. They can open their pay statements from the chat. They can ask about time-off requests, timecard corrections and attendance. A typical question is “What’s my PTO balance?” PTO means paid time off.

It also explains benefits. It gives personalised explanations of coverage, eligibility and enrolment options. It answers payroll questions too. It also helps with workforce management. Ask ADP which workforce tasks it covers.

Employees reach it in Microsoft Teams and in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Copilot is Microsoft’s own assistant, built into Microsoft 365.

It works on six ADP systems, so check yours first

ADP Assist is available for six ADP systems. They are ADP Workforce Now (current and next generations), RUN Powered by ADP, ADP Vantage HCM, ADP TotalSource, ADP Enterprise HR and ADP Lyric HCM. If your payroll runs somewhere else, this is the wrong product. Even on those six, ask which tasks work on which system.

The assistant works in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot. If your staff use a different chat tool, ask ADP whether the assistant reaches them there.

In January 2024 ADP said the assistant was in early release with some clients. A full rollout was planned. Ask ADP whether your system is fully live today.

Ask where employee chats go before you switch it on. ADP says it protects privacy by using only dedicated ADP copies of large language models and by using as little personal data as it can. A large language model is the type of AI behind chat tools. Employees will type questions about pay and health cover into this chat. Get the details of storage, access and retention in the contract.

Ask ADP for the price in writing before you sign

Ask ADP for the price of ADP Assist. Ask whether it comes with your current ADP plan or costs extra. Ask for a price per employee, and ask whether it changes after the first year.

Which of our ADP systems does it run on today, and which tasks work on each one? Good answer: A written list by system, with the tasks that work now and the date for any that do not.
