Wisq Harper

Wisq Harper is an AI assistant for employee HR questions. It answers questions on leave, policy and benefits, then files the request in your HR system. It works with Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP and Dayforce. Wisq’s Breeze Airways case study reports that Harper resolved 91% of the HR inquiries it received without passing them to a person.

Wisq Harper handles routine HR requests but bars sensitive data

In one line

Harper resolves routine HR cases for employees in chat, email, Slack, Teams and text message. Its contract bars sensitive data.

Buy it if

Your HR and payroll system is Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP or Dayforce. Your HR team spends its days on leave, policy and benefits questions. Your workforce has thousands of people.

Do not buy it if

Wisq cannot give you a written definition of sensitive data. Your employees will raise health or accommodation matters in the chat, and your lawyers need certainty first.

What Harper does when an employee asks for something

Harper handles policy questions, leave requests, job changes and benefits questions from start to finish. It works through your policies and acts in the systems it connects to. It writes up the paperwork and hands the case to a person when one is needed. Wisq gives it read and write access to your HR system, your ticketing tools and other systems of record.

Wisq’s demo chats show what that looks like. An employee asks for leave and Harper replies “Your leave request has been submitted.” In another chat, Harper finds 6 overtime hours on a 12 February timesheet that never reached payroll before the cutoff. It flags them for correction. In a third chat, Harper starts an accommodation request. It sends the request to Facilities and the employee’s HR partner, based on office location. One demo includes the step “File with the leave carrier or administrator.”

Employees reach Harper where they already work. That means chat, email, Slack, Teams, text message, mobile and company apps. Harper stays on topic. It flags sensitive topics to HR for review.

Harper connects to the HR and payroll systems Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP and Dayforce. It also connects to the service desk tools ServiceNow, Jira, Workday Help and Zendesk. Wisq picks the exact connections while it sets up your deployment.

Wisq has also announced HRLM, which it describes as the first large language model built for enterprise HR. A large language model is the AI engine behind a chat assistant. Wisq also uses Anthropic and OpenAI for product functions. Ask which one answers your employees.

Wisq’s customers resolve most HR questions without a person

Breeze Airways has 2,800 people. Harper resolved 91% of the HR questions it received without handing them to a person, since launch. Nearly half of those questions came in outside business hours.

Boundless is another Wisq customer. It handled 93% of the HR requests it received without escalation. At FICO, a global company of 4,000 people, HR moved from handling triage to working on strategy with Wisq. Each result belongs to that customer, so ask Wisq what your own mix of questions would look like.

Who should put it on a shortlist

You run Workday, UKG, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP or Dayforce

Harper connects to all five. It also connects to the service desk tools ServiceNow, Jira, Workday Help and Zendesk. Wisq decides which of your systems to connect when it sets Harper up for you. It calls that its Autopilot deployment process.

Your people use mobile devices or speak many languages

Wisq says Harper works on any smart mobile device. Employees can reach it by chat, email, Slack, Teams, text message, mobile and company apps. They can ask in any language and get the answer in that language.

Your workforce is in the thousands

Wisq’s customers include Breeze Airways, with 2,800 people, and FICO, with 4,000 people worldwide. If you have fewer people, ask Wisq for a customer your size to call.

You want a vendor founded by HR technology people

The team behind Glint founded Wisq in 2022. It has raised $55M from Norwest Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures and True Ventures.

Where the contract and the product draw a line

The contract says you will not send sensitive data

Wisq’s data processing agreement has a line in its transfer assessment. It reads “Customer has agreed not to provide any sensitive data.” That agreement is the part of the contract that covers your employees’ personal data. Leave and accommodation requests appear in Wisq’s own demos. Ask Wisq in writing what counts as sensitive data, and whether a medical leave request does.

Your employees’ data goes to outside companies

Wisq uses Anthropic and OpenAI for product functions, Google for running its AI models and Amazon Web Services for hosting. Its privacy policy says data is moved to, handled in and stored in the United States. If your employees live outside the United States, ask your legal team whether that works for you.

Wisq may use anonymised data to improve its own products

The data processing agreement lets Wisq keep using personal data after it strips out anything that identifies a person. Wisq can also combine it with other data so no one can be identified. Wisq uses it to improve its own systems and services. Ask how Wisq anonymises the data and who checks it.

It does not investigate or judge a complaint

For employee relations cases, Harper acknowledges the report, gathers the facts and passes it on. It does not investigate and it does not promise an outcome. It does not decide whether someone is believable. Wisq says that is the job of a human in HR. Plan who in your team takes each case over.

Wisq quotes the price, so ask for it in writing

Ask Wisq for the price in writing before the demo ends. Ask what it covers. Make sure it includes every system you need Harper to work in. The set up runs through Wisq’s Autopilot deployment process.

One contract term affects what you pay. If Wisq brings in a new outside data company and you object, you can end the contract. Wisq then refunds any unused prepaid fees for the rest of that subscription period.

When the contract ends, Wisq destroys all personal data within sixty days. The same limit applies after you ask for it to be destroyed. Get the exact steps in writing, including how you would take your own records out first.

You could also build the same steps on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions for the demo

  1. What counts as “sensitive data” in the contract? Does a medical leave or accommodation request count? Good answer: A written list, and a clear yes or no on leave and accommodation requests.
  2. Which of our systems will Harper be allowed to change, and which can it only read? Good answer: A named list of systems, with the exact actions Harper can take in each.
  3. Does Harper run on HRLM, or on models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google? Good answer: A direct answer, with the model named for each type of request.
  4. Can our employees’ data stay outside the United States? Good answer: A named region, written into the order form.
  5. Can you leave our data out when you improve your own systems? Good answer: Yes, written into the order form, covering data you already hold.
  6. Which topics does Harper treat as sensitive, and who in our HR team sees what it flags? Good answer: A named list of topics, and a named role in our team who receives each flag.
  7. What does it cost for our headcount, and what is not in the price? Good answer: One written quote that covers set up, every system we need and support.
  8. Can we speak to a customer close to our size? Good answer: A named customer close to our size, and a call within the week.

Alternatives to Wisq Harper

The nearest alternatives are Leena AI, Moveworks, Applaud and Workativ. They are separate AI assistants that answer employee questions, like Harper.

Harper connects to five HR and payroll systems that sell their own assistants. They are Workday, UKG, SAP, ADP and Dayforce. If you already pay one of them, compare its assistant first.

Buying nothing is the last option. Count the leave, policy and benefits questions your HR team answers in a month. Then decide whether that number justifies a quote. Our guide to AI HR assistants covers how the whole market compares.
