PerformSpark
PerformSpark is review software from Trainery. It runs review rounds, goals, check-ins and rating meetings. It costs $4 to $8 per user per month, with an annual minimum. TrAI, its AI assistant, drafts and sums up feedback. Its AI page rules out automatic ratings and pay actions, but its blogs cover AI that suggests them.
PerformSpark costs $4 to $8 per user, and its AI claims need checking
PerformSpark runs reviews, goals and rating meetings for $4 to $8 per user a month.
You want review rounds live in one to two weeks at a public per-user price. You will test each AI feature before staff use it.
You want an uptime promise worth more than fifteen days of service. You need AI kept away from ratings and pay advice, and its AI page and blogs disagree on that. Ask about it first.
$4 to $8 per user per month, with an annual contract minimum. Setup and training are included.
What PerformSpark does in a review round
PerformSpark runs annual, mid-year, quarterly, project-based and probation reviews. HR can run several types at once for different teams or seniority levels. A round repeats on a schedule. The forms go out automatically and reviewers get notified. A review can include a self-review, a manager review and peer feedback.
Reviews can link to goals. Review results link to development plans and pay decisions. Check-ins create talking points from past reviews. Employees see their goal progress, check-in history, feedback received, review scores and development plan status. PerformSpark also covers performance improvement plans.
Rating meetings are also called calibration. Leaders compare ratings so they are fair across the company. Before ratings are final, HR can compare the spread of ratings across managers and teams. HR can review the evidence, discuss outliers and record decisions. Authorised reviewers keep the final judgment. The meeting view uses nine-box grids, which place each employee by performance and potential. Review results connect directly to pay decisions in this view.
TrAI is the AI assistant inside PerformSpark. It sums up self, peer and manager feedback into themes for reviewers. It flags wording to review and points out rating inconsistencies. Managers can use it to improve the tone, clarity and completeness of feedback. They stay responsible for the review. It groups open survey comments into themes. It builds summaries to prepare rating meetings. Leaders get trend summaries across performance, engagement and development. TrAI also surfaces coaching prompts from recent performance data, feedback patterns and goal progress.
PerformSpark links to common main HR systems. It sends reminders by email, Slack and Microsoft Teams. It offers a HiBob link. UKG is among the HR system links. PerformSpark asks buyers to confirm that link’s availability, the data that moves and how the two systems sync. The scope varies by link, so check fields, direction, frequency, permissions and error handling. It also offers Zoom and calendar options for meetings.
A quick start, AI switches and data promises in the terms
Most teams run a first review round in one to two weeks
Setup covers templates, round dates, employee import and manager assignment. PerformSpark’s onboarding team does the first setup. Training is included. PerformSpark promises a live start with no IT setup.
Each AI feature has an on and off switch
Every AI feature has on and off switches and scope settings. For AI Assist, HR can set who gets access. A person must confirm every AI Assist suggestion. A review cannot be finished without human input.
PerformSpark limits how it uses your data
PerformSpark promises to tell you within 72 hours of confirming a security incident. It will not train machine learning models on your data without your prior written consent. You keep all rights in your data. It does not give client information to other parties, sell it or use it for marketing.
Roles decide who sees what, and audit logs record changes
Permissions follow roles. Audit logs record who changed what. PerformSpark runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS keeps a SOC 2 Type II certificate, which is an outside security audit. PerformSpark encrypts performance data when stored and when sent.
Check the AI features, the uptime remedy and the contract caps
The AI page rules out automatic ratings, while blogs cover AI that suggests them
PerformSpark’s AI page promises no automated ratings, pay or employment actions. Its managing director repeats that TrAI does not assign ratings or make autonomous people decisions. A blog on performance data covers Algorithmic Calibration. It uses goal results, development plan completion and peer feedback to suggest a “Defensible Rating”. That blog adds a rule for its merit matrix. For staff with low performance and high pay, the system should recommend a wage freeze and a performance improvement plan. A nine-box blog explains that PerformSpark updates the final performance score and pay recommendation automatically. Ask which of these features run in your account and whether you can switch each one off.
TrAI reads work tools and staff signals
TrAI scans Jira, GitHub and Slack and gives an executive summary for distributed teams. A blog on continuous feedback explains that TrAI scans Jira, Slack and Salesforce activity to remind managers what happened. PerformSpark asks buyers to confirm whether a current Salesforce link is available. TrAI combines three silent metrics into one Retention Risk Score. The score is a prediction of who may leave. The first metric uses camera-off time and a drop in public Slack or Teams messages as signals. PerformSpark’s tracking of manager 1-on-1s does not monitor private conversations or personal communications. Ask which tools, Salesforce included, and which signals feed TrAI in your account. Ask who sees each score.
Bias flags are prompts, not proof
Outlier signals guide human review and do not prove a rating is biased. The signals do not decide whether bias occurred. PerformSpark’s review workflow controls do not guarantee a bias-free decision. TrAI flags managers who rate too leniently or too severely. Treat each flag as a question to put to the manager.
An uptime miss returns at most fifteen days of service
PerformSpark promises commercially reasonable efforts to keep the product available 99% of each calendar month. That allows about seven hours of downtime in a 30-day month. Scheduled maintenance may run Thursdays from 10 to 11 PM Eastern Time and Sundays from 10 PM. It does not count as downtime. After a miss you must request a remedy in writing within ten days. The most it returns in a month is fifteen days of service. That is your sole and exclusive remedy. Features marked beta, early access or preview come as-is and sit outside the agreement.
A year of fees caps each side’s liability, and North Carolina law governs
Each side’s liability is capped at the fees paid in the twelve months before the claim. North Carolina law governs the terms. Legal actions go to state or federal courts in Wake County, North Carolina. Unpaid invoices 30 days past due carry interest of the lesser of 1.5% a month or the legal maximum. PerformSpark may suspend an account more than 60 days past due. That comes after written notice and a 10-day chance to fix it. Either side may end the contract over a breach not fixed within 30 days of written notice. PerformSpark commits to 30 days’ notice of material changes to the terms.
PerformSpark may use anonymised usage data for product improvement
PerformSpark may use aggregated, anonymised usage data for product improvement, benchmarking and analytics. A list of authorised outside data handlers is available on request. PerformSpark never uses customer inputs or feedback data to train external or public AI models. Ask for the list. Ask whether any outside company handles data for TrAI, and where.
Its own pages give five different size ranges
Four pages give five size ranges
The About page puts the target at growing companies of 50 to 1,000 employees. The mid-market page puts it at 200 to 1,000. A comparison guide puts it at 100 to 1,000 for HR teams at mid-market companies. It puts it at about 50 and up elsewhere. The pricing FAQ covers about 15 employees to well over 1,000, with no minimum seat count. Under the pricing FAQ, an annual contract minimum applies. The footer on the reviews page puts it as minimums that may apply. Ask which range your price assumes and whether a minimum applies to you.
The 2026 product replaces an older one with the same name
PerformSpark became available on 15 January 2026. It replaces an earlier product called Performspark, offered since 2021. Existing customers get a guided upgrade. If you use the older product, ask what changes. A September 2024 release, Performspark 4.0, added 360 reviews, which collect feedback from several people who work with the employee. Ask whether the 2026 product runs 360 reviews. Trainery began as Training Network in 1981. Trainery One was rebranded TraineryHCM in 2025. It offers eight products to over 50,000 users and 300 clients across the USA. Your contract is with Trainery One, LLC.
Enterprise and complex needs go to sales
PerformSpark sends enterprise and complex use cases to its sales team. Mid-market and enterprise organisations are among those PerformSpark serves. So are public and private sector employers.
It sits beside pay and learning products
PerformSpark belongs to the Trainery family. CompBldr covers job descriptions and job evaluation. It also covers market pricing, compensation planning and total rewards statements. TraineryLEARN covers learning and training management, coaching, content and credentials. You can buy PerformSpark alone or with other Trainery products.
The price is $4 to $8 per user per month, billed yearly
PerformSpark costs $4 to $8 per user per month, with annual contract minimums. Ask for the minimum in dollars. Fees are due yearly in advance unless the contract sets other terms.
Some employers may qualify for introductory pricing as low as $4. PerformSpark calls that a limited promotional offer. Eligibility is set during evaluation, and pricing may change as your organisation scales. The mid-market page promises that the price does not change when you add features or staff. Ask whether the $4 rate holds as headcount grows, and put the answer in your order form.
Every feature, including TrAI, comes at one flat rate per user. There are no required add-ons. AI Assist comes under fair use guidelines, so ask what limits apply. Setup and training are included.
PerformSpark offers switchers a start with no payment until their current contract ends. The offer runs to December 2026 at most. It also invites buyers to “Start Your Free Trial”.
You can move historical reviews, ratings and development plans in. When the contract ends you have 60 days to export your data. After that PerformSpark may delete it. It will certify the deletion in writing on request. Under its privacy policy, client data is deleted one year after it was last used, unless needed for business purposes. Ask when your data is gone for good.
You could also run review steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
