Humanly
Humanly's AI Interviewer holds a live interview with each candidate, by voice or video. It runs on Qualifi, the phone-screening company Humanly bought in October 2025. A score you set can end a candidate's path with no recruiter looking. Afterward you get a recording, a transcript and a score. A candidate needs only a phone or a browser. Humanly does not publish a price. You request a quote.
Humanly's AI Interviewer is Qualifi's phone screen with a live avatar added. A score you set can end a candidate's path with no recruiter.
You hire at volume for hourly or frontline roles. You want a live interview, not a one-way recording. You already send candidates through Qualifi. You are ready to decide which steps a score alone can end.
You need Workday or UKG connected before you sign. You need a published price to plan against. You need a finished bias audit for your legal team. You want case studies about this live format, not Qualifi's older phone screen.
Not published. You get a custom quote. Humanly plans to charge by the candidate or by the hire instead of a flat plan. It has not set a figure yet.
Qualifi runs it, and its score can end a candidate's path
Humanly's AI Interviewer is built on Qualifi. Qualifi's older product calls a candidate and plays recorded questions. Nobody live is on the other end. Humanly launched the live interview in October 2025, the month it bought Qualifi. An animated on-screen figure, called an avatar, asks the questions. You can use voice alone instead. It asks a question, listens, and can follow up or press for more detail.
Each candidate gets a recording, a transcript and a score, with the transcript line behind each mark. By default, the score and the transcript go to a person, who decides what happens next.
The score reads only words, not a face or a voice. Reading a candidate's feelings at work with AI has been banned in the EU since 2 February 2025.
The result then goes to the tracking system you connect. Humanly's technical documents name only Greenhouse, as an example. Qualifi says it has more than fifty links from its years as its own company. Humanly is building direct links to systems such as Workday and UKG. They are not finished yet.
Scores are traceable, and most customers start within two weeks
Each result shows who made the call
Each result shows whether a person, the AI, or both made the call. A recruiter can check any score against the transcript line behind it.
It flags more than just the answer
It watches for a second voice off camera, and for odd browser activity. It also looks for what Humanly calls suspicious behavioural patterns. Humanly calls these signals for your team to review. They are not a verdict the software reaches alone.
The security paperwork is in place
Humanly says it holds a SOC 2 Type II report. That is an independent audit of its security controls. It also follows ISO 27001, a standard for managing information security. It has a data processing agreement in place. It says it follows GDPR and CCPA, the EU and California privacy laws. Qualifi's candidate pages also meet WCAG 2.0 AA. That is a standard for making a website easier to use for people with disabilities.
Nothing to install, and most customers start within two weeks
A candidate needs no app and no account. Humanly says most customers are up and running within one to two weeks. A bigger rollout takes longer.
Its case studies cover the older screen, and no bias audit is published
Humanly was founded in Seattle in August 2018. It has bought four other companies in under two years. It bought Teamable in May 2024, then Qualifi, Sprockets and HourWork together in October 2025. The largest of its funding rounds was a $25 million Series B led by SEEK Investments. MassMutual Catalyst Fund, Drive Capital and Zeal Capital Partners also took part. No lawsuit, regulator complaint or layoff has been reported against Humanly, HumanlyHR or Qualifi.
Most of its results come from the business it bought
Case studies name Mutual of Omaha, where a screen went from five days to five hours. They also name Cellular Sales, where interview completion rates doubled, and more than a dozen others. All of them describe Qualifi's older, one-way phone screen. None names the live interview with the on-screen avatar. Get a result from a customer using the live format before this goes into a business case.
The Workday and UKG connections are not finished
Workday and UKG both sit on Humanly's own list of systems it wants to reach. Its technical documents show only a test connection live today. Workday is still being built, and UKG has not started. If either sits at the centre of your hiring, get a date in writing.
Get a finished bias audit before you sign
Humanly names an outside AI-governance firm, FairNow, for its bias-review materials. Get the name of a completed audit of this interview, who ran it, and when. If you hire in New York City, the audit duty falls on the employer, not the vendor.
It suits volume hiring for hourly and frontline roles
Its customers work in healthcare, hospitality, logistics and retail
Humanly says it is built for hourly, frontline and high-volume hiring. It names customers from mid-market companies up to Fortune 500 firms.
Qualifi customers add it without a new supplier
The live interview sits inside an existing Qualifi account and contract. It needs no new supplier and no new vetting.
It suits a recruiter who must explain a decision later
Each mark traces back to a list your own team wrote or approved. A recruiter can explain a decision to a candidate or to a legal team.
Greenhouse users avoid the unfinished connections
If you run Greenhouse, or can wait for Workday or UKG, the unfinished connections do not affect you.
No published price, and two days after the contract to export data
Qualifi's pricing page offers a form to request a quote. It gives a discount for paying yearly, and 15% off for non-profits. Humanly says the whole company is moving toward charging by the candidate or by the hire. It has not set a dollar figure yet.
What you sign renews every year unless either side gives ninety days' written notice. Humanly's contract caps how much your price can rise at each renewal. The cap is up to 3% on top of the rise in US consumer prices, excluding food and energy. That applies once a year, from your first anniversary. If a dispute comes up, the most Humanly pays you is what you paid in the last twelve months. The contract runs under Washington law.
Humanly sets no floor on company size or seats. Your hiring volume and the type of role matter more than your size.
Its contract gives you two days after your contract ends to take out what is in your account. That covers recordings, transcripts and scores. Humanly has no duty to hand over anything beyond that, in any other form. Plan your export before your contract ends.
You could also build a screen, an interview and a debrief on your own tracking system. We have mapped what that looks like. See it as an agent
What should you ask Humanly before you sign?
- Which steps can end on the score alone once we turn this on? Who on our side can set or change that score line? Good answer: A list of steps, one named admin, and a log of every change.
- Which results you have shown us come from this live interview, not Qualifi's older phone screen? Good answer: A named customer using the live interview, with its own figures.
- When will the Workday and UKG connections be finished? What happens to our plan if that date slips? Good answer: A written date, and a way out of the contract if it slips.
- What can we take out in the two days after our contract ends, and in what format? Good answer: Recordings, transcripts and scores, in a common file format.
- Has an outside firm audited this live interview for bias? Will you share that audit for our own roles? Good answer: Yes, with the auditor’s name, the date and the report.
- Our price can rise each year by up to 3% on top of inflation. What does that come to in dollars? Good answer: A dollar figure written into our contract, not just the formula.
- Is our price fixed for this contract, or will you move us onto per-candidate pricing? Good answer: Fixed for the whole term, in writing.
- Which languages can it hold a live conversation in today? Good answer: A written list of the languages it speaks, not just translates.
Alternatives to Humanly, including buying nothing
Your closest alternatives to Humanly are Apriora, HeyMilo, Ribbon and HireVue. Buying nothing is a fifth option.
If a published price matters, put Ribbon beside Humanly. Ribbon's starting plan costs $499 a month and covers 100 interviews. Beyond that, it charges $4.00 an interview. You can price your own Ribbon bill from your monthly applicant count, with no call needed first.
Apriora and HeyMilo also say they can catch a stand-in for the candidate, or a coached answer, at volume. Their case studies describe the product you would sign up for.
HireVue is the pick if you want the interview inside a larger hiring suite. Buying nothing yet is a fair choice too. It fits if your hiring rarely reaches the volume Humanly is built for. It also fits if your recruiters already handle the phone screens they get. Our market guide sets out the case for spending nothing this year.
