Peoplebox runs OKRs and review rounds from $8 per employee per month
Peoplebox runs goals set as OKRs (objectives and key results), review rounds and one-to-one meetings. Its Performance Management plan costs $8 per employee per month, billed annually. 360 feedback is an add-on at $8 more. Its AI is called Nova AI.
Should you buy Peoplebox?
Peoplebox runs goals, review rounds, 360 feedback and one-to-one meetings in one product. Its base plan has a published price.
You want goals and reviews in one product. Your company has 100 to 1,000 employees, the range Peoplebox aims at. A go-live of two weeks to two months suits you, as its pages give both.
You need to cancel, because under Peoplebox’s terms fees paid are non-cancellable and non-refundable. You need to adjust single goal ratings during calibration, because that step works on the overall score. You need to own what staff share privately or anonymously, because under Peoplebox’s terms Peoplebox owns that data.
$8 per employee per month, billed annually, for the Performance Management plan. Add-ons cost $2 to $8 more per employee per month. Custom pricing is offered through a demo.
How Peoplebox handles goals, reviews and AI
Peoplebox is an OKR, talent management and people analytics platform. OKRs are objectives and key results. They link company, team and personal goals to measurable results. Goal progress can appear inside the review form. The company behind it, Peoplebox Inc, is based in San Francisco.
An administrator sets up each review round. Peoplebox covers self, peer, manager and 360 feedback, where several colleagues review one person. The set-up has four reviewer types, each with an on and off switch. Several rounds can run at once, including quarterly, probation and 360 rounds.
Custom attributes can split staff into groups, and each group gets its own forms and questions. That does not apply to 360 rounds. A question can take a rating, written text or both. Competencies, the skills expected in a role, can be a section of the form. The overall score can be worked out from weights set on each section.
Calibration is a tool that an administrator controls. Once managers submit ratings, HR or senior leaders can use it to adjust them to fit a distribution curve. The spread appears as bars or lines. Administrators can override single ratings, and an audit log records each change. Employees see only the final score after this step. An administrator can also hide scores and show only the rating legend.
A nine-box grid places each person by performance and potential. The administrator picks the questions for the two axes. In Slack, a manager can submit a review of a direct report after reading the self-review and peer reviews. Peoplebox also runs one-to-one meetings with shared agendas and action tracking.
Nova AI is Peoplebox’s AI. An administrator turns each Nova AI option on or off. There are five. They cover PDFs of 360 reviews, staff refining their own feedback, goal suggestions, development plan pages and team pages. With development suggestions on, staff see a list of areas and choose which to add. Users can click “Summarize Feedback” to get a short overview of the feedback they received.
On Peoplebox’s one-to-one meeting page, AI captures the conversation as it happens so talking points become tracked actions. That page also has an AI Coach that suggests talking points from goals, recent performance and feedback history. Its performance management page adds that AI writes the summary of a one-to-one call. In its help article on talking points, Suggested Talking Points is a list of predefined talking points.
Peoplebox also connects to outside AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Through that link a user can create and edit goals, log check-ins, draft review comments and give feedback. One-to-one meetings and development plans are read-only. The AI writes comments only, and a person always chooses ratings and scores. The assistant sees only what the signed-in person can already see. One setting lets an administrator switch outside AI access on or off. Every change made this way goes into an audit trail.
Peoplebox replaces only the performance part of a main HR system. It connects to Workday, BambooHR, Darwinbox, SAP SuccessFactors and Rippling. It also connects to Keka and Zoho People. Zoho People data flows one way into Peoplebox. The Peoplebox team sets up the BambooHR link. That link has no self-serve set-up. Jira, Asana and Linear cover project work. Slack and Microsoft Teams carry notifications. Staff can sign in with the company’s own login.

What Peoplebox’s customers report
Peoplebox’s own customers report these results.
| Customer | What they report |
|---|---|
| AHCL, 500 to 1,000 employees | Moved performance management for 750 employees onto Peoplebox. HR admin effort dropped 35%. Nine-box reviews covered 540 employees and fed AI development plans. Reports ran in Arabic or English, with all data held inside Saudi Arabia. |
| Ula, 251 to 500 employees | A 98% review completion rate from employees. A 70% cut in routine HR tasks. |
| CometChat, 50 to 200 employees | A 98% review completion rate and a 90% cut in admin work. It runs a 360 review for the whole company. |
| Khatabook | Review rounds shortened from over 3 months to within the same month. It went live in 2 to 3 weeks. |
| Fenergo, 850 or more employees | Linked pay to performance impact with goal weighting and end-of-year reviews. |
| Razorpay and Nova Benefits, 1,000 or more employees each | Each reports 100% OKR adoption. |
What Peoplebox does well
You can work out a list price before a sales call
Peoplebox publishes the base plan and the price of each add-on. Multiply by your headcount to get the list price. Your final bill depends on your order form. Custom pricing is offered through a demo.
Goals and reviews sit in one product
Goal progress can appear inside the review form. Engagement surveys, development plans and compensation planning are add-ons to the same product. Review scores flow into compensation planning.
An administrator turns each Nova AI option on or off
There are five Nova AI options, and each is a toggle. Outside AI assistant access has its own single setting. That assistant sees only what the signed-in person can already see.
A security report that is audited every year
In its data contract, Peoplebox keeps a SOC 2 Type 2 report. That is an independent audit of how a company protects data. The report is audited every year. Under the same contract, Peoplebox notifies the customer of a personal data breach without undue delay. The exception is a breach unlikely to put people’s rights at risk.
Who Peoplebox suits
Companies of 100 to 1,000 employees
Peoplebox aims at this range. Its customers run from 50 to 200 employees at CometChat to 1,000 or more at Razorpay and Nova Benefits. Over 600 companies trust Peoplebox.
Companies that keep their main HR system
If you already have an HR system, it can stay in place. Peoplebox syncs employee records from SAP SuccessFactors, Darwinbox, Keka, BambooHR, Zoho People and others.
Companies moving off Lattice
Peoplebox’s Lattice comparison page puts a switch from Lattice at 2 to 4 weeks. The move covers data export, set-up of your review process and links to other systems. Go-live comes with a dedicated customer success manager. The same page has the heading “5-Week Implementation”. Ask which figure applies to you.
Where Peoplebox is limited, and the terms you accept
Fees paid are non-cancellable and non-refundable
You pay the fees in the order form in advance. You pay the minimum fees in the order whatever your actual usage. For a software error, one option Peoplebox has under its terms is a refund. It covers the pre-paid fees for the whole months left.
Late payment carries a monthly charge
Unpaid invoices carry a charge of 1.5% a month or the legal maximum, whichever is lower.
Peoplebox may use your data and owns your reports
You give Peoplebox an exclusive licence to use and exploit your data for its internal business purposes. The licence is worldwide and royalty-free. Peoplebox or its licensors own the reports the software generates. Peoplebox owns private data that users share with privacy or anonymity. It need not share that data with you. It may refuse to include your data, or may remove it, for any reason at its sole discretion.
Liability stops at three months of fees
Under Peoplebox’s terms, its total liability for direct damages is capped. The cap is the fees received under the applicable order in the three months before the event. The software comes as is. Peoplebox does not warrant that the subscription will run uninterrupted or error-free. Under its AI terms, AI features are available as set in the agreement or any service level agreement that applies. Under those AI terms, access is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted.
Disputes go to arbitration in Delaware
Delaware law governs the agreement. A dispute goes to binding arbitration if negotiation has not resolved it within 30 days of a dispute notice. The American Arbitration Association’s rules apply. The seat is Delaware.
Peoplebox may audit your use and use your name in marketing
Under Peoplebox’s terms, it may inspect, examine and audit your use of the software remotely, for compliance. It may also use your name in advertising, publicity releases and marketing. Each side agrees not to solicit or hire the other’s employees. That lasts through the term and for one year after it ends.
AI output needs your review, and anonymised data improves its AI
Peoplebox’s AI features use OpenAI’s AI models. They help users write reviews by refining text. Peoplebox will not train AI models on AI content or customer data without explicit consent. It does use that data in anonymised or aggregated form to improve the AI system. You must review and validate AI output. Do this before you rely on it for any performance evaluation or employment decision. You are responsible for human oversight when AI content goes into such a decision.
Your data can sit in several regions
Under its privacy policy, personal information may be transferred, stored or processed in several places. The places include the US, the European Union, the UK and India. Amazon Web Services provides cloud storage and compute. Posthog records how people use the product. A subsidiary called Culturegrade Technologies builds the application.
Calibration works on the final score only
Calibration works on the final overall performance score, not on goal-level scores. If you need to adjust single goal ratings, ask how Peoplebox handles that.
Go-live can take two weeks or two months
Peoplebox’s performance management page puts go-live at about 2 weeks. Its talent management page puts most companies at one to two months. It depends on review types, custom frameworks and data migration. Khatabook went live in 2 to 3 weeks.
Check what managers can do inside Microsoft Teams
Peoplebox’s performance reviews page puts reviews inside both Slack and Microsoft Teams. In Teams, Peoplebox currently supports reminders for one-to-one meetings and goal check-ins. It also supports goal owner notices and tagging someone in a goal comment. Ask what a manager can do in Teams today.
The review product was still in development in 2023
Khatabook began looking in October 2023. Peoplebox’s review product was still in development then. Ask how far it has come since.
What Peoplebox costs
The base plan has a published price, and so does every add-on. Each add-on is priced per employee per month, billed annually.
| Item | Price or term | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Management plan | $8 per employee per month, billed annually | The base plan. Performance management and OKRs sit here. |
| Development plans add-on | $3 per employee per month | Includes AI-generated development areas and actions. |
| Engagement add-on | $2 per employee per month | Peoplebox sells engagement surveys. |
| 360 feedback add-on | $8 per employee per month | Reports with AI insights from Nova AI. |
| Compensation add-on | $5 per employee per month | Review scores flow into pay planning. |
| Custom pricing | Quoted after a demo | Peoplebox offers it through a demo. |
| Payment | In advance | Invoices fall due in seven days. |
| Renewal | Automatic, one year at a time | Written notice at least 30 days before the term ends stops it. |
| Leaving | Your right to use the software ends | Peoplebox returns or deletes personal data on instruction, at least 30 days from the end. |
Every 100 employees cost $800 a month on the base plan, or $9,600 a year. This assumes annual billing, no add-ons and no minimum fee above that. All four add-ons together add $18 per employee per month. The base plan plus all four costs $26 per employee per month, or $31,200 a year for every 100 employees.
Review PDFs download as a zip file. Reports download as spreadsheet files filtered by department or manager. Personal data comes back in a commonly used format or the format it was stored in.
You could also run review steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Alternatives to Peoplebox
Lattice, Betterworks, Leapsome, Profit.co, PerformYard and Teamflect also sell performance management software.
Lattice costs $10 per seat per month for Performance. Goals and OKRs cost $8 per seat per month as a separate product. The minimum annual agreement is $4,000. Lattice adds no cost for change management or implementation of the performance product.
Betterworks costs $8 per user per month for its Performance package. Implementation is a one-time cost on top. Signature Support costs extra.
Leapsome charges EUR 7 per employee per month for Performance Reviews and EUR 4 for Goals and OKRs. Leapsome’s platform is always part of the plan, and a single product area cannot be bought without it. Discounts depend on how many product areas a customer buys and on its number of employees.
Profit.co sells OKR software and performance management as separate products. On AWS Marketplace, each is billed on its own user count and can be bought alone. Pricing comes as a proposal from its account team.
PerformYard costs $5 to $15 per person per month, billed annually. It charges no fee for onboarding or training. Every plan includes links to HR systems and single sign-on.
Teamflect costs $7 per user per month on its Essential plan and $11 on Professional, both billed annually. Its Starter plan is free for up to 10 users. It works inside Microsoft Teams.
If an HR system you use already runs reviews, check what it covers before you buy.
