Eightfold: what you buy, and what you sign
Eightfold sells hiring AI in pieces, and most pieces run beside the applicant tracking system you already have. In public Eightfold’s position is that people decide. Under its contract, though, its agents may act on their own under steps you define. You are solely responsible for what they do, so the gap between the two matters before you sign. Eightfold publishes two bias audits, and each one has limits. For AI Interviewer at mid-size organisations, it gives a five-figure price range.
Eightfold is hiring AI that mostly sits beside your system, and its contract puts the agents’ actions on you
Eightfold is a suite of hiring AI. It can replace your applicant tracking system or sit beside the one you keep. Its terms leave the risk of what its agents do with you.
You want AI to find, rank and interview candidates on top of a hiring system you keep. You can name one person to own the rules its agents follow. You can accept a contract that puts the agents’ actions on you.
You need a price before a sales call. You expect the vendor to carry the risk of its AI’s actions. You need more than capped compensation when the service is down.
AI Interviewer has no list price. In July 2026 Eightfold gave a five-figure range for AI Interviewer at mid-size organisations. The price grows with company size and interview volume.
Eightfold sells its AI in pieces, and most pieces run beside the system you have
Eightfold sells many products under one name, so the first question is which piece you would actually buy. Its full recruiting suite is Talent Acquisition, which runs from requisition to hire. Eightfold calls it AI-native. Sourcing, AI interviews and offers run on one platform. Eightfold also sells an applicant tracking system called Talent Tracking, announced in May 2024. Talent Tracking removes the need for a standalone ATS. Foley Equipment went live on it in January 2025.
You do not have to switch your hiring system to use the rest. AI Interviewer works alongside the ATS you already have and activates in one to two weeks. It does not need Candidate Concierge. In October 2026 Eightfold wrote that AI Interviewer works alongside Workday Recruiting, which stays the main hiring record. Candidates can take the interview on a phone by video, audio or text. Eightfold gives two figures for languages. Interviews run in 22 or more, and candidate evaluation covers 24 or more. Ask which figure applies to the languages your candidates speak.
AI Interviewer conducts the interview and gives the recruiting team structured insights. It writes questions and criteria from a job description, and you approve them. After the interview it helps assess the candidate against your criteria. Eightfold’s position is that human teams keep control of every outcome.
Two other products do different jobs. Candidate Concierge talks with job seekers by text, WhatsApp, web or voice in 24 or more languages. It surfaces roles that fit them. It needs no new software or integration, so you switch it on. AI Interview Companion helps your own interviewers instead. It joins interviews that your people run on Zoom, Google Meet or Teams and drafts the feedback. Interviewers review, adjust and submit it. Candidates are told before the session and can opt out.
The matching model scores candidates for a job. Candidate Concierge runs on it. AI Interviewer has its own bias audit, covered below. The model reads titles, work experience, education, skills and the text of CVs and job descriptions. It gives each candidate a score from 0 to 5 in steps of 0.5. The scores can rank candidates for a job. If you have linked LinkedIn Recruiter, LinkedIn career information can feed the score. A score belongs to one job. It does not follow a person to other roles or companies. Reviewers can open candidates in any order and act whatever the score is.
The newest layer is agentic AI, where software takes steps itself instead of only suggesting them. This is the layer that matters most for your risk. Eightfold’s agents create and manage role qualifications, approvals, interview planning, screenings and job postings. They manage the candidate pipeline and contact candidates. They run first screenings with voice models. They also personalise offer recommendations, extend offers, run background checks and start onboarding. Eightfold invites buyers to a design partner programme for early access to Eightfold Agentic AI. In July 2026 Eightfold made Candidate Agent generally available for organisations with its Personal Career Site enabled. Ask which of the rest you can buy today.
Eightfold connects to your other systems through an API, a link that lets other software read and change Eightfold data. The API moves data between Eightfold and your ATS, HR and learning systems. Applications from Candidate Concierge flow into your ATS and into Eightfold. Interview Companion feedback is stored in Eightfold and can sync to your ATS where it is set up. Eightfold described a hiring agent embedded in Oracle Recruiting Cloud in May 2026. Eightfold’s platform is also a SAP partner application in the SAP Store. In 2018 Eightfold put the Greenhouse connection at about half a day and said many Greenhouse customers had connected.
Our guide to applicant tracking systems covers how the wider market handles the same choice.
Eightfold publishes two bias audits, and each covers a different product
If you use an automated tool to screen candidates for New York City jobs, the bias audit is your duty. Under the city’s guidance, the vendor that built the tool is not responsible for its audit. Our guide to applicant tracking systems covers what Local Law 144 asks for and when it applies.
That is why Eightfold’s two audits matter. They are useful evidence, but the duty stays with you. Eightfold designed the matching model audit to satisfy the law. The audit still does not finish your own duty. You must still post a summary of the latest audit on your own website before use. The two audits below show what each one covers and what limits it.
The matching model audit covers 29 million assessments
BABL AI prepared the audit on 3 March 2026 and signed it on 26 March 2026. Another Eightfold page gives 6 March 2026 as the most recent audit date, so ask Eightfold which date counts. The audit covers January 2024 to December 2025 and more than 29 million candidate assessments. The model passed all three audited sections. Those are disparate impact across gender and race or ethnicity, internal governance and risk assessment. The lowest impact ratio is 0.880. An impact ratio compares how often one group is selected with how often another group is selected.
The AI Interviewer audit used made-up interviews for some tests
AI Interviewer passed all three audited sections of its own audit. The tests on race or ethnicity, and the tests across combined groups, used synthetic interviews written by a language model. The gender and age tests used real usage data, and the age labels were inferred. The audit did not assess any protected class beyond race or ethnicity, gender and age. Eightfold also tested age, which the law does not require.
The AI Interviewer audit carries two different dates
The audit header reads audited 29 June 2026 and signed 28 July 2026. The same page ends with a signature dated 8 July 2026. Ask Eightfold which date is right. Ask for a signed copy before you rely on it.
Eightfold also commits in its master agreement to an annual independent bias audit of its AI model. It offers product tools for the candidate notices the New York law asks for. It also offers notice and consent steps for AI-assisted video interviews. Those tools help you meet your duties, but they do not replace checking the audit itself.
Certificates, data location and uptime figures are written down
Before the risks, here is what Eightfold has put in writing. These are the protections a buyer can check against Eightfold’s own documents before signing anything.
Security certificates are in the AI Interviewer price, and accessibility was assessed
Eightfold includes SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certifications in its AI Interviewer pricing. It does not sell them separately. It also holds FedRAMP Moderate authorisation. Talent Acquisition was independently assessed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. A report on its accessibility, dated 30 July 2026, is available on request.
You choose where the data sits
Eightfold hosts on AWS and stores data in the region you choose. Its data processing agreement keeps personal data only in the regions you specify. You control how long data is kept, and data is deleted on request and on set schedules. Eightfold also uses Azure as a host, with the location chosen by customers.
The contract has numbers in it
Eightfold commits to at least 99.5% uptime each month. It aims to tell you about a security incident within 24 hours. It tells you no later than 72 hours from confirmation, which gives you a limit to hold it to. After a failure it aims to be working again within three business days and fully running within five. It aims to lose no more than one hour of data. Those figures set what you can expect after an outage. Eightfold gives you 30 days’ notice before a new outside supplier handles your candidates’ data. So you hear about the supplier before it sees the data, and you may object within 15 days.
Fraud checks flag people for review and never reject anyone automatically
AI Interviewer flags tab switching, camera tricks and duplicate voices for a person to review. No application is rejected automatically by its fraud signals. ID checks through ID.me and CLEAR are optional and need the candidate’s consent. AI Interviewer does not analyse facial expressions, tone of voice or accent.
It suits employers that want AI on top of a hiring system they keep
Eightfold fits an employer that wants AI on top of a hiring system it keeps. AI Interviewer works alongside your existing ATS. Eightfold’s services are built to complement your main hiring record. In October 2026 Eightfold wrote that Workday Recruiting stays the main hiring record beside AI Interviewer. In May 2024 Eightfold wrote that its platform will continue to provide value whichever ATS you use. The results below are each customer’s own, and they come from different products. Forvia implemented Talent Acquisition, and QAS used AI Interviewer. So ask which result matches the piece you would add.
Eightfold built AI Interviewer for organisations of 1,000 to 5,000 employees
That is the company size Eightfold built AI Interviewer for. In June 2025 Eightfold reported that more than 100 organisations in 155 countries use Eightfold. Eightfold also reported that the platform is available in more than 155 countries and 24 languages.
Customers report faster hiring and more applicants
Forvia reports 3.5 times the visitor-to-applicant conversion on its career site and 30% productivity gains in sourcing. MM Group reports a 42% drop in time to hire. It launched across 22 sites, 11 countries and 7 languages in five months. Dexcom reports that 42% of career site visitors submitted a CV in the first six months. Softtek reports a 30% cut in time to fill. Every figure is the customer’s own result.
More results cover volume, public-sector use and first interviews
Eightfold gives Cloudflare’s outcome as managing 1 million applicants per quarter efficiently. The New York State Department of Labor reports more than 800,000 job seekers signed up on an Eightfold-powered platform. That platform lets employers post jobs, message candidates and move hires through recruiting phases. QAS reports cutting the time to a first interview by up to 90% with AI Interviewer.
You carry the risk of what the agents do
This section covers where the product and the contract leave the risk with you. It matters because the largest risk is not a missing feature. It is who answers when an agent acts. The cards below start with that. They then cover the lawsuit, the use of your data, early products and the limit on downtime compensation.
Eightfold’s public position is that people decide, but its contract puts the agents’ actions on you
In public, Eightfold’s position is that its software does not reject a candidate on its own. Nor does it advance anyone through a hiring stage. AI Interviewer supports human decisions and does not make them. The platform never filters candidates out of view, and customers decide who advances. The contract reads differently. Under Eightfold’s AI addendum, agentic AI may act autonomously in your environment. It does so under steps you define. You are solely responsible for the guardrails and for the actions of agentic AI. That gap matters because Eightfold’s own releases describe agents that act autonomously. In August 2025 Eightfold announced that its Recruiter Agent lets enterprises engage, evaluate and advance talent autonomously. Its API accepts a scheduled rejection time for an application stage. An API is a link that lets other software read and change Eightfold data. So whether people decide depends on the steps you define. Under the addendum you are the deployer and must not rely only on outputs for employment decisions. Outputs may contain errors and should not be the only source of truth. That leaves you one question to settle before you sign. Which agents can reject, advance or schedule a rejection on their own?
A proposed class action accuses Eightfold of breaking a US consumer reporting law
In January 2026 Reuters reported a lawsuit against Eightfold. Two US job seekers sued in California state court as a proposed class. It is the first to accuse an AI hiring company of breaking the Fair Credit Reporting Act. That is the law firms’ claim. Eightfold’s spokesperson answered that the platform runs on data shared by candidates or provided by customers. Ask Eightfold where the case stands today and whether it touches the scoring you would use.
Your data can still help train the AI in anonymised form
Eightfold will not use customer personal data to train its AI. But its terms let it use anonymised learnings to train its AI model. Eightfold defines those as anonymised customer data used for product improvement, including training machine learning algorithms. Eightfold trains its matching model on more than one billion anonymised career profiles. With Talent Tracking you can also choose to join a shared talent pool with other organisations. Decide before you sign whether you accept either use of your candidates’ data.
Some agents are in early access, and two descriptions date from 2018
The design partner programme offers early access to Eightfold Agentic AI, so ask which agents you can buy today. Eightfold also built a command line tool that coding agents can drive. It began as an internal hackathon project, and availability depends on product readiness. Two descriptions are older. In 2018 Eightfold called Talent Acquisition a complete solution from requisition to offer. A 2018 Eightfold blog said many Greenhouse customers had connected Greenhouse with Eightfold. Ask what has changed since then.
Compensation for downtime is capped
The 99.5% uptime promise comes with service compensation capped at 25% of the monthly fees. The contract makes that compensation Eightfold’s only liability for an uptime failure. So the most Eightfold owes for an uptime failure is that capped compensation. General liability is capped at the fees paid or payable in the prior 12 months. For breaches of data security and privacy duties the cap is two times those fees.
AI Interviewer has no list price, and you get 30 days to take your data out
This section covers what you would pay, and what happens to your data if you leave. AI Interviewer has no list price. In July 2026 Eightfold gave a five-figure range for mid-size organisations. The price scales with organisation size, use case and interview volume. The cost per employee per month figure cited online applies to the full platform, not to AI Interviewer. Eightfold includes SOC 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification in the AI Interviewer price.
Two marketplaces give a little more. On Azure Marketplace, Eightfold’s plan is illustrative, and sales go through customised Private Offers. The hiring agent in Oracle Recruiting Cloud is on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. You can buy it with Oracle Universal Cloud Credits. US federal buyers can also buy through two GSA contracts held by FOUR LLC and by Carahsoft Technology Corp.
One public record gives a single customer’s spend. The US Department of Defense committed $329,925.63 under a contract signed on 23 September 2025. It covers an AI talent management system that matches airmen and guardians to jobs, assignments and training. The period runs from 24 September 2025 to 23 September 2026. That is one use, so it does not set a price for yours.
The contract works through a Sales Order that sets your fees and your subscription term. The master agreement runs until it is ended. Payment is in US dollars unless you agree otherwise. Invoices fall due within 30 days unless the Sales Order provides otherwise. Invoiced fees are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled unless the agreement provides otherwise. Say Eightfold materially breaches the contract and you end it. You then get a refund of prepaid fees for the rest of the term. It is worked out in proportion to the time left.
Leaving needs planning. After the contract ends, Eightfold makes your data available for electronic retrieval for 30 days on written request. After that it may delete the data. Under the data processing agreement Eightfold returns or deletes your personal data on termination as the agreement provides. Eightfold’s API, its link for other software, can fetch a candidate’s attachments and delete a profile. Settle the export format and the window before you sign.
You could also run hiring steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map
Eight questions for the sales call
- Which agents can reject, advance or schedule a rejection on their own? Who on our side switches each one on? Good answer: A written list, an off switch we control and a log of every change.
- Where does the California case stand, and does it touch the scoring we would use? Good answer: A short written answer from Eightfold’s lawyers that we can pass to ours.
- Can we opt out of anonymised learnings from our data, and out of the shared talent pool? Good answer: Yes, written into the order form, and covering the data Eightfold already holds on us as well.
- What will AI Interviewer and the matching model cost at our headcount and our interview volume? Good answer: A written quote that sets out the unit, the term and the yearly rise.
- Which date is right on the AI Interviewer audit? Can we have a signed copy and results for roles like ours? Good answer: One signed copy with one date and figures from real candidates.
- Which agents are generally available today, and which need the design partner programme? Good answer: A list with an availability date for each one.
- How do we get every candidate record out in the 30 days after the contract ends, and in what format? Good answer: A stated file format and a longer window, written into the contract.
- Which connections to our hiring system are live today, and who can we speak to who uses them? Good answer: A named, current connection and a customer on the same system.
Alternatives to Eightfold
If Eightfold comes off your shortlist, you have three routes. You can use the AI your own hiring system sells, such as Workday Recruiting or Oracle Recruiting. You can add candidate tools from another vendor, such as Greenhouse, Paradox or iCIMS. Or you can move to a hiring system with AI built in, such as Phenom or SmartRecruiters.
Start with the system you already own if it is Workday or Oracle. Workday sells a Recruiting Agent powered by HiredScore and a Candidate Experience Agent powered by Paradox. Workday notes that some announced agent products are not yet generally available. Oracle Recruiting is part of Oracle Cloud HCM. Eightfold works with both, so the question is whether its AI beats the one already in your contract.
A separate AI layer is the second route. Greenhouse sells Ezra, its conversational AI, as a standalone product for Greenhouse customers and for companies on other platforms. Ezra is available in the United States today. Paradox sells conversational hiring by text and chat, and Workday owns it. iCIMS sells a recruitment CRM, called CXM, that works with the iCIMS ATS or another ATS. iCIMS announced the launch of its Hiring Agent in Microsoft Teams on 20 October 2026.
The third route replaces the hiring system. Phenom Hire is an applied AI hiring platform that runs from requisition to offer. Phenom audits its Fit Score each year and publishes the results. SmartRecruiters, now part of SAP, combines an applicant tracking system with a recruiting CRM. Its portfolio stays available standalone for the foreseeable future. Buying nothing is also a choice. Eightfold built AI Interviewer for organisations of 1,000 to 5,000 employees. A smaller employer sits outside that size.
