Eightfold AI Interviewer
Eightfold AI Interviewer runs the interview, then hands your recruiter a video, a transcript and a score. It is part of Eightfold's wider hiring platform. It also works inside Oracle Recruiting Cloud. Eightfold publishes no price. Its bias audit checked gender, race and age. It did not check disability or religion. The race results came from made-up candidates, not real ones.
An AI-led interview inside Eightfold's wider hiring platform. It scores each candidate for a recruiter to read. It does not decide anything on its own.
You run Oracle Recruiting Cloud. You hire at real volume across similar roles. Your company has 1,000 to 5,000 employees, not 10,000 or more.
You need a price before you talk to sales. You need the bias audit to cover groups beyond gender, race and age.
Not published. Eightfold's pricing guide gives a five-figure range for a mid-size company.
It scores each candidate for a recruiter to decide
AI Interviewer runs the interview itself. The candidate picks video, audio or text, and picks the time. They need a browser, a microphone and a camera. The AI asks a follow-up question when an answer is incomplete. Your recruiter then gets a summary, the full video, the full transcript and a score against your own criteria.
Your team writes the job description. Eightfold's AI turns it into interview questions and a scoring guide. Your team reviews and approves both first. The score comes only from what the candidate says, not their face or voice. Reading emotion this way has been banned in the EU since 2 February 2025.
Before the interview starts, the system checks the setup and asks for consent to record. It also watches for fraud, such as a candidate switching tabs, a tampered camera or a second voice. It checks identity against a government ID through two outside services, ID.me and CLEAR. A flag is timestamped for your recruiter. The software never acts on a flag by itself.
Eightfold's contract makes your company legally responsible for the hiring decision. It calls your company the deployer. A person must stay involved in any decision that matters. In the EU, stricter duties for hiring tools start on 2 December 2027.
Our AI interview agents guide compares the other tools on this point.
An outside bias audit and firm contract promises back it up
The bias audit publishes real numbers
BABL AI, an outside company, tested AI Interviewer for bias by gender, race and age. That third check goes further than New York City’s law requires. Male candidates reached the audit’s middle score or higher 75.4% of the time. Female candidates did so 74.7% of the time. That gap gives an impact ratio of 0.990, a measure of how equal the two scores are. It is well clear of the 0.80 line the audit treats as its cutoff. Eightfold audits AI Interviewer on its own. Its other products are audited separately.
The yearly audit is written into the contract
Eightfold’s contract promises an outside audit of AI Interviewer every year. That audit must meet a standard at least as strict as New York City’s law. That applies in any state you hire in. Get the right to see each yearly audit written into your contract.
It will not train its AI on candidate answers
Eightfold’s contract says it will not use a candidate’s personal data to train or improve its AI. It makes the same promise on its own help page for candidates. Eightfold learns only from anonymous patterns in that data, never from the data itself.
It holds three security certificates
Eightfold holds SOC 2, an outside audit of its security controls. It also holds ISO 27001, a security standard, and ISO 42001, written for AI systems.
Open court cases and audit gaps limit it
Eightfold AI Inc. is privately held. Its last announced funding round was $220m, in June 2021. No later round, and no sale of Eightfold, has followed since.
Three court cases name Eightfold AI Inc. One, under the US law on background checks, is about how the company predicts a candidate's skills. It moved to federal court in California in March 2026. As of its last filing, in August 2026, it was still waiting on a ruling. A second case, about hiring decisions, was dismissed by agreement in June 2026. Eleven days later, a new case under the same name opened in a different court. It is still open. A third case, under US disability rights law, was filed in April 2026 and is also still open.
The audit does not cover most protected groups
BABL AI’s audit covers gender, race and ethnicity, and age. It does not cover disability, national origin, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status. Eightfold’s own report says this directly, and says no audit can prove a system is free of bias. There were not enough real interviews to test race and ethnicity fairly. That part of the audit used candidates a language model invented, not real applicants.
A candidate cannot ask for a person instead
Candidates are told what AI Interviewer is, and that it records the session. There is no option to adjust the AI interview for a disability. If your own hiring policy promises a human interviewer or an adjustment, you have to provide it yourself.
Oracle is the only tracking system Eightfold names
If you run something other than Oracle Recruiting Cloud, get your system confirmed in writing before you sign. Do not assume it connects.
It suits Oracle customers hiring at volume
If you hire across many locations and keep opening new ones
Quality Automotive Services runs a growing chain of Valvoline Instant Oil Change centres. It opens around 30 new sites a year. AI Interviewer cut the time to a first interview by up to 90%. That took three or four weeks down to days. It also reports thousands of recruiter hours saved. It scaled its hiring without adding recruiters.
If you hire for regulated roles and need a paper trail
Constellis is a global defence and security company. It hires for thousands of security roles. It used AI Interviewer to cut out cold calls, manual notes and voicemail follow-ups during early screening. It now keeps one audited record of every evaluation. That record helps it meet its own rules for regulation and contracts.
It is priced for companies of 1,000 to 5,000 employees
Eightfold’s own guidance is aimed at companies of 1,000 to 5,000 employees whose small recruiting teams hire at large scale. Its July 2026 pricing post says the price does not only suit companies of 10,000 people or more. It frames the product around companies under 10,000 employees.
If you run Oracle Recruiting Cloud
AI Interviewer is built directly into Oracle Recruiting Cloud, not sold as a separate add-on. You can buy it through Oracle’s own marketplace. That also removes a separate contract and a separate login from your decision.
Expect a five-figure quote, not a published price
Eightfold publishes no figure on its own site. Its pricing guide describes a five-figure range for a mid-size company. The price scales to your size and how you plan to use it, rather than one flat rate. Eightfold's own guidance is to request your own figure rather than trust an estimate written for someone else. SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and the connection to your existing system are all included in that figure.
Size decides more of your price than anything else. Eightfold's October 2025 launch announcement said it was open to smaller and larger companies too.
What happens when you leave is written down, which is more than some vendors offer. Once your contract ends, Eightfold keeps your recordings, transcripts and scores ready to download. You have thirty days to request them in writing. After that, it may delete them whether you have requested them or not. Put the export format you need, and who checks it arrived, into the order form.
You could also build a screen, an interview and a debrief on your own tracking system. We have mapped what that looks like. See it as an agent
What should you ask before the demo?
- You list 22 or more languages. Which ones have you tested in a real interview, not just built into the product? Good answer: A named list of the languages it has tested.
- Which of our systems, apart from Oracle, can AI Interviewer read from and send results to? Good answer: A named list of systems, not just “your existing system.”
- Will you let a candidate ask for a person instead, or adjust the interview for a disability? Good answer: Yes, in writing, with a date.
- Your race and ethnicity audit used candidates a language model invented. When will a version built on our own candidates replace it? Good answer: A date on the calendar, not “soon.”
- Three court cases name your company. What would each one mean for a contract we sign while they are open? Good answer: A written answer for each case, not one blanket promise.
- We get thirty days to download our data after the contract ends. Will you extend that in the order form? Good answer: Yes, with the new number of days in writing.
- Your FAQ names 1,000 to 5,000 employees as the size you are built for. Where does our quote fall in that range? Good answer: A number, not just “somewhere in five figures.”
HireVue, Talview Ivy, Apriora or Greenhouse Voice AI, or buy nothing
The closest alternatives to Eightfold are HireVue, Talview Ivy, Apriora and Greenhouse Voice AI. Buying nothing is a fifth option. HireVue and Talview Ivy sell the same way as Eightfold. Each interview sits inside a wider hiring platform, with a longer buying process. Apriora sells its interview on its own. Greenhouse Voice AI is the easiest way in if you already own Greenhouse. It needs no new contract or login to try.
Talview Ivy usually wants about 150 to 200 interviews committed before it starts. Eightfold publishes no minimum at all. HireVue's most recent published bias audit on record dates from 2023. Eightfold's own audit is from 2026, and it tests age as well as gender and race.
If you run Oracle Recruiting Cloud, HireVue, Talview Ivy and Apriora are not built into it the way Eightfold is.
Buying nothing is a real option too. Eightfold is aimed at small recruiting teams that hire at large scale. If that is not your situation, a five-figure commitment is unlikely to pay for itself quickly. The same is true if your hiring runs in the dozens rather than the thousands. In New York City, running the bias audit and warning candidates is up to the employer, not the vendor. Our AI interview agents guide makes the fuller case for buying nothing.
