Disco

Disco is an AI learning platform for building and running online learning communities. A course can run as a cohort, at the learner’s own pace, as a membership or as an event series. Staff learn together, with discussion and live events. The Organization plan covers up to 500 members. Company login, the API and the HR-system sync are on the Enterprise plan.

In one line

An AI learning platform that runs courses, cohorts, live events and discussion in one place.

Buy it if

You want staff trained in groups, with discussion and live sessions. You want AI to draft courses and quizzes. Your group is up to 500 members, or you will price Enterprise.

Do not buy it if

You need company login, an API or an HR-system link below Enterprise. You need a Knowledge Check pass mark on record.

Price

The Organization plan costs $399 a month billed annually in Disco’s billing article. Its pricing page puts it at $499 a month. Enterprise is custom-priced.

Disco runs courses, groups, live events and AI help in one place

A Disco course is called a Program. It can hold videos, text lessons, PDFs, links, quizzes and assignments. It can also hold course files in SCORM, the standard file format for e-learning courses.

A Program can run as a cohort course, a self-paced course, a membership or an event series. Learning Pathways put Programs in a set order. Prerequisites lock a section or lesson until earlier content is done. Live events run on Zoom, on a custom link or in person. Disco creates the Zoom meeting from a connected account.

Disco has three ways to remind learners. An email goes out 24 hours before an assignment is due, when it is enabled. The Slack integration sends reminder messages. An automatic action can start after a set time of inactivity in a Program.

Admins open a Member Report for any member. It puts profile data, time, progress, engagement, attendance and discussion activity on one page. A Group Report tracks progress for a whole group. Group Leads see progress in their group without full admin access. A finished course or pathway earns a certificate, which is a shareable image. Member profiles hold skills that members fill in themselves.

Disco drafts courses, answers within permissions, and an admin approves replies and actions

One prompt gives an admin a draft course, and nothing goes live until it is published

AI Program Generation creates an outline, a curriculum and content from one prompt. The new Program starts as a draft. Members cannot see it until an admin publishes. A quiz generator writes questions from the lesson content. Kids & Company reports that Disco’s AI-powered quiz generator saved nearly two full work weeks. Its story also reports 90 or more hours saved annually with AI-generated quizzes.

Ask AI answers a learner’s question from content that learner may see

Ask AI answers only from content the person asking is allowed to view. With web search off it uses only sources inside the Academy. An admin switches it on or off for the whole Academy, not for some members. Its reports add up the questions and do not show who asked each one. D2D Experts reports 75% time savings on learner questions using Ask AI.

An admin approves Suggested Replies and chooses whether to send Suggested Actions

An admin clicks Approve to post an AI Suggested Reply in a channel. Suggested Actions recommend an audience and an action, and an admin chooses whether to send. Transcripts, summaries, chapters and subtitles made for a video stay hidden from members while set to Draft. Only admins with media-transcription permissions can open them.

Disco suits staff who learn together, with up to 500 members on the Organization plan

Disco fits a company that wants staff trained in groups, with discussion and live sessions. The Organization plan covers up to 500 members. One example is Kids & Company. It rolled Disco out to more than 3,000 employees.

Kids & Company reports an 85% course completion rate, about a 25% increase. It also reports an 81% employee engagement rate across announcements, forums and events. Disco’s For Companies page calls that same 81% an increase in employee engagement, so ask what the starting figure was.

The Council of Canadian Innovators runs cohorts on a yearly cycle. Its three-level program for board directors runs three cohorts per year across all levels. It trains up to 300 new learners annually.

Company login, API, HR-system sync and the export route are on Enterprise, and Knowledge Check has no passing threshold

Knowledge Check tells you where a learner stands, not who passed

Knowledge Check is an AI conversation that replaces a quiz for part of a Program. The AI scores each session from 1 to 5 for comprehension. There is no passing threshold. Learners do not see numerical scores, and a completed Knowledge Check cannot be retaken. It cannot read SCORM content. Disco calls it a check of where a member stands, not a formal assessment. Admins see a summary, strengths, gaps and next steps.

Company login, the API and the HR-system sync are all on the Enterprise plan

The API is how IT connects Disco to other systems. It is on the Enterprise plan only. Staff signing in with the company’s own login system is for Enterprise customers. Profile Fields API Sync enables connections with HR systems, and it sits on Enterprise too. A 21 August 2026 update lets integrations through the API record pass or fail outcomes for assignment submissions. The API can also add completions for existing members. Admins export the members list as a CSV spreadsheet. There is no one-click import tool for content or members.

Disco reads SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, and does not support xAPI or cmi5

Disco reads completion and score data from SCORM packages into reports. SCORM time spent is not reported. Check which standard your own courses use.

The export route after you leave runs through the API, which is Enterprise only

After termination, and on request, Disco makes your data available for export for 60 days. The export runs through the current API. Afterwards Disco deletes your data, except as required by law or for audit logs. Under Disco’s privacy policy, the customer must back up its own data. Deactivated members keep their historical learning data for reporting. Get the export route in writing before you sign.

The phone app is a beta release

Disco calls its mobile app a beta release and a companion to the member experience. Its All Features page has a mobile experience with offline capabilities. Branded mobile apps are offered on select plans, and by request on the Enterprise plan. Kids & Company reports that staff without desktops used mobile.

Disco’s own pages give two answers on the audit and two on where data sits

Disco’s Security page reports a completed SOC 2 Type I audit. Its changelog entry of 1 October 2026 reports a completed SOC 2 Type II audit. Disco shares its SOC 2 report under a non-disclosure agreement on request. Its privacy policy puts the storage and processing of personal information principally in the United States. Another passage of the same policy puts it principally in Canada and the United States. Customers with data residency requirements are asked to contact Disco. Disco commits to commercially reasonable efforts at 24/7 availability, with exceptions.

The AI runs on outside models, and the no-training promise carries a condition

Disco uses AI models like those from OpenAI. It represents that it will not use customer data to train or fine-tune AI models. That promise is limited by third-party AI providers’ compliance with their data terms. On its AI page, customer data is not sent to model providers like OpenAI. In its Ask AI FAQ, data is not sent to them for training purposes. Disco’s terms disclaim any warranty that AI-generated content accurately reflects real people, places or facts. Generation is optimised for English. Audio narration uses a single AI-selected voice, and multilingual translation is not supported.

Disco gives two prices for the Organization plan and two trial lengths

Two prices for one plan. Disco’s billing article puts the Organization plan at $399 a month billed annually. Its pricing page puts it at $499 a month. Ask which one applies to your order.

Enterprise is custom-priced and scales to 100,000 or more members. Prices are in US dollars. Plans are billed annually, with monthly billing also available. Annual billing carries a lower effective monthly rate. The Organization plan includes a live onboarding workshop, weekly office hours and a discount for nonprofits.

Disco’s pricing page offers a free 14-day trial. Its billing article gives every new Academy a free 7-day trial. Plan changes and cancellations go through the account team.

Fees can change, and refunds are limited. Disco’s terms reserve the right to change fees, and a new Order Form is required if the organisation agrees. Under the terms there are no refunds for fees except as the agreement provides. Disco’s billing article puts refunds case by case.

The terms renew in one-year terms by written agreement. A late payment has two stages. Disco’s FAQ puts the pause on an account typically at 21 days of non-payment. If fees stay unpaid for more than 60 days, Disco may remove your data.

You could also run training steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

What to ask Disco before you sign

  1. Which price applies to our order, $399 or $499 a month, and is it billed monthly or yearly? Good answer: One figure in writing, with the billing period beside it.
  2. Is the trial 7 days or 14 days, and can we test every feature we plan to buy? Good answer: One length in writing, with those features switched on.
  3. Can a quiz carry a pass mark, and will the Member Report show each learner’s score? Good answer: Yes, and the report goes to an auditor as it stands.
  4. If a course uses xAPI or cmi5, how would it run and report in Disco? Good answer: A written route, or a plain no.
  5. How does a customer on the Organization plan export data after termination? Good answer: A written route that does not need the Enterprise API.
  6. Below Enterprise, can staff use the company login and can our HR system feed profile fields? Good answer: Yes with a written price, or a plain no.
  7. Which parts of the phone app can members not yet use, and by when will they arrive? Good answer: A written list matched to our staff’s tasks, with dates.
  8. Which SOC 2 report, Type I or Type II, will you share under a non-disclosure agreement before we sign? Good answer: The Type II report, before signature.
  9. Where will our staff data sit, and can we choose the country? Good answer: A named country in the order form.
  10. Which outside AI providers handle our content, and does the no-training promise cover them? Good answer: Named providers and a written promise that covers each one.
  11. Will you cap any fee change for the length of the term? Good answer: A written cap, and notice before any change.
  12. What are the refund terms for our order? Good answer: Written into the order form, not left to a case-by-case decision.

Alternatives to Disco, including buying nothing

TalentLMS, Absorb, and 360Learning each answer one limit in Disco.

Disco does not support xAPI or cmi5. TalentLMS supports SCORM 1.2, xAPI and cmi5. Absorb works with SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, xAPI and HTML5.

Disco’s phone app is a beta release. In 360Learning’s mobile app, SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 courses can be downloaded for offline use.

Buying nothing yet is a real option if you need an HR-system link and would not price Enterprise. Disco’s API and HR-system sync sit on Enterprise.

Sources and method Everything said about Disco here comes from Disco’s own pages. Those are its website, help documents, changelog, terms of service, privacy policy and customer stories. What Disco publishes about its own product is taken as its description of that product. Where two Disco pages give different figures for the same thing, both figures are given. The alternatives come from the vendors’ own pages. Every source was read on 21 October 2026.
