SkyPrep

SkyPrep LMS is training software for employees, customers and partners. It builds courses with AI, assigns them, sends reminders and keeps each learner’s completion record. Customers can host their data in Canada or the US. On current plans you choose the number of active users when you sign up. Read its terms on data loss and renewal before you buy.

In one line

Training software that builds courses with AI, sends reminders and keeps completion records.

Buy it if

You need to show who finished which course, and when. You want reminders and repeat training to run on their own. Your staff data can sit in Canada or the US.

Do not buy it if

You need your data hosted elsewhere. Your training records would hold personal health information, which its terms bar. You need a turnkey solution for 21 CFR Part 11, the US FDA rule on electronic records.

Price

Plans are Lite, Premium and Enterprise Learning Suite. On current plans you pay for the active users you buy at sign-up. A 14-day free trial is available. Ask for the price per active user on your plan.

SkyPrep builds courses with AI, delivers them and keeps the records

SkyPrep LMS creates, manages, delivers and tracks training for employees, customers and partners. Studio is its course builder. Unity is an add-on for learning from colleagues around shared content. SkyPrep Perform is a separate performance management product that works alongside the LMS.

It runs the training formats you may already use. Learners can take online courses, classroom sessions and live online sessions. A classroom session counts as complete when a learner attends any one timeslot. SkyPrep captures attendance, participation and completion of live online sessions. It has six built-in webinar integrations. If you already own courses, SkyPrep accepts SCORM, the standard file format for e-learning courses, in versions 1.2 and 2004. It also accepts AICC files, another course-file standard. In the official mobile app, progress made offline in a downloaded SCORM package syncs when the device reconnects. The learner and admin screens come in 23 languages.

Ready-made courses come from SkyPrep and its partners, and you buy some of them separately. SkyPrep’s own courses include Conflict Resolution, Workplace Harassment and Unconscious Bias. OpenSesame is a partner, and you buy seats on OpenSesame’s page. SkyPrep’s Library page puts OpenSesame at more than 30,000 courses. Its help centre puts the number at more than 20,000. Go1 is a further partner. Another partner offers more than 1,500 safety and compliance courses. LinkedIn Learning courses can be added as AICC downloads. You request Library access through your account manager or the in-app message button.

Admins decide who can do what. SkyPrep has three roles, Admin, Power User and Learner. Roles set what permissions a user has. Datasets set where those permissions apply. Power Users are the users with a Role and a Dataset applied.

Training can also follow a skill or a review. Skills points are awarded when a user completes set training items, and the points track proficiency. Learners can ask the help widget to recommend learning based on the skills and competencies the admin sets up. A review can enrol users into courses if they do not meet expectations. A Roleplay block lets learners respond to a scenario using an AI bot.

Our market guide places SkyPrep next to the rest of the market.

It sends the reminders and keeps the proof of who finished

Reminders and repeat training run without anyone chasing

Workflow automation enrols users into courses based on their attributes, their status and due or expiry dates. Automated notices and reminders replace manual chasing. A course can expire after a number of days that the admin sets. The Early Re-Enrollment Window enrols people again before their certificate runs out. Course reminders and completions can go to Slack or Microsoft Teams. The Premium plan includes workflow automation.

Each learner has a record you can export

The Summary of a Course report covers each user’s status and average exam score. It also covers start and finish dates, certificate expiry, deadline and certificate number. A learner can download a transcript of completed training. A course can ask for a signature, a tick box or a password. Reports export as CSV, XLSX and PDF. The US FDA has a rule on electronic records and signatures, called 21 CFR Part 11. SkyPrep offers configurable electronic signatures and read-only audit trail reports for it. SkyPrep cannot offer a turnkey Part 11 solution, meaning one that is ready to use as it comes.

AI drafts the course, and an admin edits it

AI generates full course outlines from the materials you upload. The admin can add, change and remove content afterwards. AI also writes assessment questions from pasted text, previews them and lets the admin change them. AI translates any published Studio document, and the admin can edit the result. Image, video, fill-in-the-blank, org chart and flow chart blocks are not translated. One switch turns AI on for the whole platform. An admin first accepts an AI Usage Agreement. The plan decides which AI features you get.

It reads staff data from your HR system

SkyPrep reads user data from a connected HR system once an admin authorises it. It then creates, updates, disables, reactivates and groups users as its settings direct. You finish the Workday link inside SkyPrep. SkyPrep has ready-made links to Freshteam, Justworks, Rippling, Sage HR and Sapling. The Keka connection needs an add-on that you buy from Keka. SkyPrep also has an API, a way to connect other systems.

Hosting, data loss and renewal terms need a read before you sign

Most of SkyPrep’s limits sit in its contract and its hosting, not in its features. Read the terms before you compare plans.

Customers host their data in Canada or the US

SkyPrep has North American data centres. Customers can host data in Canadian and US facilities on Amazon Web Services. SkyPrep processes data in Canada and the US. Under its privacy policy, recipients of personal information are based in Ireland, Poland, Australia, the UK and the US. Fireflies.ai is one of the outside companies on its list of data handlers. The text-message code for the second sign-in step goes to a Canadian or US number. Ask where your own staff data will sit, and for the full list of outside companies that handle it.

Under its terms you keep personal health information out

Under SkyPrep’s terms, the customer agrees not to include Personal Health Information in Customer Data. The same applies to any other information the customer gives SkyPrep. If your training records could hold health details, take this clause to your lawyers first.

Under its terms, data loss sits with you

Under SkyPrep’s terms, SkyPrep has no obligation or liability for loss of customer data. That covers alteration, destruction, damage, corruption and recovery too. The services do not replace your own backups. Under the terms, SkyPrep’s total liability is capped at the amounts you paid in the preceding year. SkyPrep’s security page puts backups at hourly snapshots. Its terms put them at daily snapshots. Its help centre puts them at hourly and daily. Ask which one is in your contract.

Two uptime figures sit side by side

SkyPrep’s security page gives 99.99% uptime. Its terms commit to commercially reasonable efforts at 99.9% availability per calendar quarter. That is a promise to try, not a guarantee. Put the figure you need in writing, and ask what happens when SkyPrep misses it.

SkyPrep may compile statistics from your data

Under SkyPrep’s terms, SkyPrep may compile Aggregated Statistics from the Customer Data you enter. The customer grants SkyPrep a perpetual, irrevocable licence to Customer Data within those statistics. That is a permanent right you cannot take back. The customer also gives SkyPrep permission to use its name and logo in marketing. Ask whether either can be removed in your order form.

Anonymous course links leave no named record

An anonymous course link lets people take a course without a SkyPrep account. Those completions are not tied to a named account. If you must show who completed a course, use named accounts for that training.

The accessibility report is from 2023

SkyPrep’s accessibility conformance report covers SkyPrep LMS and is dated 5 July 2023. In it, SkyPrep marks WCAG 2.0 Level A and Level AA as met. WCAG is the web accessibility standard. SkyPrep marks the revised Section 508 standards, the US federal accessibility rule, as met. It marks Level AAA as not met. The report covers learner views only in the web application. Ask whether admin screens and the mobile app are covered.

Support runs on Eastern time and goes to admins

Under SkyPrep’s terms, support runs on business days from 10:00 to 18:00 Eastern. It goes only to your Administrative Users. Learners ask your admins, and your admins ask SkyPrep.

Its named customers run from more than 120 staff to more than 3,000 learners

Classroom training for hundreds of staff

Lynden Door has used SkyPrep since 2016. It trains 400 employees in classrooms. Lynden Door reports that onboarding attendance rose from 60% to 100%.

Franchise networks and seasonal hiring

Little Kickers uses SkyPrep for about 1,500 coaches across 250 franchises. The YMCA of Northern Alberta hires around 250 young adults for summer day camp. It is also a customer.

Small finance and manufacturing teams

People’s Trust Group is a finance company in Vancouver. It has more than 120 employees and more than 25 courses. USIS North America is a manufacturer in New York. It has more than 120 employees and more than 30 courses.

A large group of learners

TIFF has more than 3,000 users in training. SkyPrep reports more than 1 million users. It also reports more than 500 organisations and more than 100,000 courses.

You pay for the active users you buy, and fees may rise by up to 15% at renewal

An active user is a person who logs in. Repeat logins do not count again. On current plans you buy the number of active users at sign-up, and the plan does not set it. If you go over the limit, you pay a fee for the extra users unless you upgrade. On an annual plan that fee is $5 per user. Extra-user charges under $1,000 carry a $59.99 administrative fee when no credit card is on file.

SkyPrep has three plans, Lite, Premium and Enterprise Learning Suite. Lite includes unlimited courses, custom branding, SCORM packages, instructor-led training and email support. Premium includes advanced reporting, API and single sign-on, gamification, workflow automation and phone support with a customer success manager. Enterprise Learning Suite includes multiple platforms, migration services, multi-year discounts and custom SMTP. That means emails sent from your own mail server. A 14-day free trial is available, and a trial customer is not charged after it ends.

Data migration is an extra-cost service, from $500 per project. SkyPrep’s terms include an onboarding session at no extra cost. They also say up to three onboarding sessions are free. Under its terms, payment is in US dollars. Late payments carry interest of 1.5% per month, or the lower legal maximum.

SkyPrep’s agreement renews automatically for terms of the same length. Either side can stop that with written notice at least 60 days before the term ends. On renewal SkyPrep may raise fees by up to 15%. That cap does not apply to material changes to the Services option you select for a renewal term. If your plan is no longer available at the end of a term, you move to the most similar plan.

SkyPrep allows upgrades, downgrades and cancellation at any time. Under its terms, there is no refund on early termination. A cancellation takes effect at once. A final charge might apply if you cancel before the end of the billing cycle. You start a cancellation by emailing your Account Manager.

SkyPrep keeps all platform information for 90 days after a plan is cancelled and then deletes it for good. Data comes out through SkyPrep’s reporting options, which export as CSV, XLSX and PDF. Export what you need before the 90 days end. Ontario law governs the agreement. SkyPrep Inc. provides the services.

You could also run training steps with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Nine questions to put to SkyPrep before you sign

  1. Where will our staff data sit, and which outside companies handle it? Good answer: A named region and the full list of outside companies, with the reason for each.
  2. Does the 15% renewal cap hold if we change the Services option on renewal? Good answer: A written answer on what counts as a material change.
  3. Will you restore our data from a backup if it is lost? Good answer: A written promise, with the snapshot schedule named as hourly or daily.
  4. Which uptime figure applies to us, 99.99% or 99.9%? Good answer: The figure in the contract, and what happens when it is missed.
  5. Can we remove our name and logo from your marketing? Good answer: Yes, in the order form.
  6. Which plan includes the AI features we need? Good answer: A named plan with those features written in.
  7. What is the price per active user on our plan, and what do extra users cost? Good answer: One written rate, checked against the $5 per user for annual plans.
  8. How many onboarding sessions are free? Good answer: A number in writing.
  9. Who at our company may contact support, and in which hours? Good answer: Cover for our time zone, with admins named.

Alternatives to SkyPrep, including buying nothing

Three of SkyPrep’s limits point to other products. For backups and data loss, look at Absorb. For a newer accessibility standard, WCAG 2.2 AA, look at LearnUpon. For health information, look at Relias. A trial of SkyPrep is another route. For manager practice, look at Risely’s Merlin.

Under SkyPrep’s terms, SkyPrep has no obligation or liability for loss of customer data. Absorb keeps hourly, daily and weekly backups offsite for up to 30 days. Using those backups on your own costs $200 per hour. Absorb also keeps client data and backups in the region you select. Ask both vendors who restores your data, and at what price.

SkyPrep’s accessibility report is dated 2023, uses WCAG 2.0 and covers learner views only in the web application. LearnUpon’s learner experience has met WCAG 2.2 AA since June 2026. A few keyboard-navigation exceptions are listed in its VPAT, the vendor’s accessibility report. Ask LearnUpon for that report and read the exceptions.

Under SkyPrep’s terms, you keep personal health information out of its system. Relias focuses its LMS on clinical, continuing education and compliance training. PHI means protected health information. Under Relias’s terms, the client may not upload PHI to a service Relias has not designated as suitable for PHI. So the question for Relias is which of its services carry that designation. Ask for the answer in writing.

SkyPrep’s Roleplay block lets learners respond to a scenario using an AI bot. Risely’s Merlin is an AI coach for managers who want to practise hard conversations. In roleplay, Merlin plays the other person, such as a defensive direct report or a sceptical VP. The manager practises the approach before the real conversation. Merlin also works through scenarios, such as a team member saying they are thinking about quitting. Merlin fits that practice. SkyPrep fits course delivery and completion records.

SkyPrep offers a 14-day free trial. A trial customer does not need to cancel and is not charged after the trial. Use the trial to test whether you need completion records at all. Do that before you sign an agreement that renews on its own. If the trial shows you can do without those records, see the market guide on staying as you are.

Sources and method Everything said about SkyPrep here comes from SkyPrep’s own product, pricing, security, GDPR and privacy pages. It also comes from its help centre, its terms and conditions, its accessibility conformance report and its customer case studies. The comparison facts come from Absorb’s, LearnUpon’s and Relias’s own pages and agreements. They also come from Risely’s own product page and from the US federal regulation on electronic records. What a vendor publishes about its own product is taken as its description of that product. Where two pages of the same vendor give different figures, both are shown. Every source was read on the date shown beside it.
