Manatal suits a team that wants AI ranking in its tracking system, but you commit for the whole term

Manatal publishes its prices. A 14-day free trial needs no card. Ask whether the trial includes the AI Interviewer. People-Match is a browser add-on that copies profiles from LinkedIn, Indeed, GitHub, SEEK Talent Search and Xing into Manatal. It costs nothing extra on any plan.

A recruiter can override the AI ranking by changing criteria, adding filters or reordering candidates. The AI Interviewer avoids discussing protected attributes such as age, gender, health or religion. Manatal does not use customer data to train its AI models.

Manatal holds a SOC 2 Type II certificate, an independent audit of its security controls. It stores all customer data in the USA on Amazon Web Services. You can pause a subscription for 1, 2 or 3 months, once every 3 months.

These prices are in US dollars per recruiter per month. Yearly billing is cheaper. Two people cannot share one recruiter login. Prices exclude tax. Manatal charges GST, the Singapore sales tax, only to Singapore tax residents.

The AI Interviewer is an extra, available on request. Monthly packs run from $40 for 20 interviews ($2 each) to $360 for 200 ($1.80 each). Larger packs need a call to support. Yearly packs run from $360 for 240 interviews ($1.50 each) to $3,120 for 2,400 ($1.30 each). You pay when a candidate completes an interview. Each retake uses another interview. Unused monthly interviews do not roll over.

Other extras are charged separately. Contact details start at $15 a month for 30 lookups. Text messages cost $28 per line per month plus message charges. Sourcing Hub gives Professional and Enterprise 10 searches a month and Enterprise Plus 300. Each search uses one, even when it returns nothing.

Leaving has a price. A subscriber gets one free data export a year. The export is off by default, so support must switch it on. The account must be active with every invoice paid. A full export with CVs and attachments costs $900. After the contract ends, Manatal keeps your data for up to 10 years. Earlier deletion takes up to 2 months once you ask.

Eight questions to put to Manatal before you sign

1. Which plan do we need to use AI Recommendations and the AI Interviewer today? Will either still be a beta feature on that plan? A good answer is a named plan, and a line in the order form that says neither feature is in beta.
2. Which languages can the AI Interviewer run in today? A good answer is a written list of languages in the order form.
3. What happens to our money if you withdraw an AI feature during our term? A good answer is a written clause that ends the extra and refunds the unused months.
4. How many days after the contract ends do you delete our candidate data? Does any of it go into product research and development? A good answer is a number of days written into the contract, and a written no.
5. Which of your AI providers handles our candidate interviews, and in which country? A good answer is one named provider and one country for each feature.
6. Has an outside firm tested the AI Interviewer for unfair results? Can we read the report? A good answer is a report we can read, with figures for each group of candidates.
7. Can an administrator switch off the age, gender and nationality filters for every recruiter? A good answer is yes, with one setting for the whole account.
8. What does a full export of our CVs, recordings and transcripts cost, and how long does it take? A good answer is a price and a number of days, in writing, before we sign.

Alternatives to Manatal

Breezy HR, Workable, Zoho Recruit and Recruitee are similar hiring systems with AI. HeyMilo and Apriora suit you if you mainly want AI interviews.

Workable prices its plans by the number of employees, not by recruiter. Its Standard plan costs $299 a month, billed yearly. Every paid account starts with 3,000 free units of AI use. Breezy HR has a free plan for one open role at a time. Its AI is a separate extra, bought as prepaid usage from $30 for 100,000 units. That usage never expires. Zoho Recruit’s Standard plan allows 10 active jobs for each recruiter licence.

Recruitee’s Screening Assistant reviews incoming applications against criteria you set. The Advance plan gives 100 uses a month and 3 searches with its Matching Assistant. The Optimize plan gives the full Screening Assistant and 65 searches a month.
