Zoho Recruit

Zoho Recruit is a hiring system. It has an applicant tracking system and a recruitment CRM built in. The CRM keeps track of people you may hire later. Its AI scores candidates against a job, finds people on job boards and chats with applicants to screen them. Zoho prices it per user, so ask for the figure for your team.

Zoho Recruit ranks the candidates already on your system

In one line

Zoho Recruit is a full hiring system. Its AI ranks candidates by skill, searches job boards and screens applicants by chat.

Buy it if

You want one place to run hiring, with AI matching on skills. It suits you best if you already use Zoho People or Zoho CRM. You are ready to keep a person in charge of every hiring decision.

Do not buy it if

You need the AI to explain each match in words today. That feature is coming soon. Do not buy it either if you expect Zoho to carry the legal work on bias audits and candidate notices. Its terms leave that to you.

Price

Zoho prices Zoho Recruit per user. A 15-day trial gives you every Enterprise feature, then the account moves to the Free Plan. Paid editions have a 45-day money-back guarantee. Ask Zoho for the figure for your number of recruiters.

How the AI matches, sources and screens candidates

Zoho Recruit does three AI jobs. It ranks people against a job. It finds new people on job boards. It chats with applicants to screen them. The AI behind all three is called Zia.

Start with ranking. Zia compares a candidate’s skills and qualifications with what the job needs. A job opening gets a ranked list of candidates, best score first. The score uses the skills set on the job and the skills field on the candidate record. Zia grades each skill on proficiency, experience and the date the person last used it. A rare skill earns a better score. Zia also gives each applicant a base score when they apply and refines it as skills line up. For any candidate, Zia grades matching jobs from 0 to 100.

Your recruiters can narrow the list by keyword, skill, job category, location and years of experience. A feature called Ideal Candidates shows the top 3 applicants for a job opening, based on a skill score.

Sourcing is the second job. Resume Harvester searches several job boards for candidates who fit criteria you set, and adds them to Zoho Recruit. Creating an automatic search starts a scheduler. With one job board selected, each run adds the top 10 candidates. Those candidates count against the paid job board account you link. A recruiter can add a step to view and approve each profile before it joins your candidate list. Ask Zoho how many job board searches a day your plan allows.

Screening is the third job. The Screening Bot lets candidates who applied take a pre-screening test in a chat. They give consent first. You can set the bot to send the test automatically when someone applies. Candidates who missed it get it by email. If a candidate fails a must-pass question, the bot disqualifies them automatically. A separate Sourcing Bot sits on your career site. A visitor uploads a CV or types their skills, and sees only the jobs that fit their profile.

Zoho Recruit has two smaller AI tools. AI Interview Insights turns recorded one-way interviews into a text transcript and a summary of the candidate’s answers. AI Assist drafts job descriptions, personalised candidate emails and assessments. Zoho Recruit also automates routine tasks such as parsing CVs, sending application updates, scheduling interviews and sending offer letters.

Zoho Recruit also connects to other systems. MCP is a standard that lets one AI tool read and act on another system’s data. Zoho Recruit’s MCP connection lets AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini work in your candidate list. They can search candidates, update records and generate reports. Access follows the roles and permissions you already set. A LinkedIn feature called Recruiter System Connect links LinkedIn Recruiter with Zoho Recruit. Candidate activity then syncs in real time.

Our guide to AI sourcing and screening shows how the rest of this market handles these jobs.

Skill-based scores, human review and no training on your private data

The AI ranks candidates on their skills

The score rests on the skills your recruiters set on the job, so they control what it looks for.

A person can review, change or reject what the AI produces

Zoho provides functions for authorised users to review, change, reject or override AI output. Users can also record what they did. You are responsible for keeping a person as the decision-maker in hiring.

It connects to the tools you already use

Zoho Recruit connects to over 200 applications, including Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Mailchimp and TestGorilla. You can post jobs straight to LinkedIn.

Zoho does not train its AI on your private data

Zoho Recruit runs on Zoho’s own language model, Zia LLM. It uses only the information recruiters and candidates provide. Zoho does not use private customer data to train its models. Zoho is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification. Both are widely used security standards.

It suits teams that want one hiring system, perhaps beside other Zoho products

You run an HR team or a recruitment agency

Zoho Recruit is a cloud-based hiring system for HR teams and recruitment agencies. It includes an applicant tracking system, which is software that holds every applicant and moves them through your hiring steps. It also includes a recruitment CRM, which keeps a list of people you may hire later. Shortlist Recruitment, a recruitment firm with 16 consultants in the UK and USA, is a Zoho Recruit customer.

You already use Zoho People or Zoho CRM

Zoho Recruit links to Zoho People, which turns a successful hire into an employee record. It also links to Zoho CRM. If your company already runs on Zoho, the hiring tool sits in the same family of products.

You get many applications for each job

Take a software developer role that gets 500 applications. The Screening Bot asks pre-set technical questions, evaluates the answers and shortlists the most qualified.

Over 800,000 recruiters use Zoho Recruit. At one customer, departments and HR lose at least 30% less time chasing each other.

Plan limits, roadmap features and legal work that stays with you

Candidate Matches ranks people already in your database

Candidate Matches needs candidate records in your own Zoho Recruit account. It shows at most 20 matches for a job, best score first. If you set primary skills on the job, only candidates with those skills appear.

The screening chatbot can disqualify a candidate on one answer

The Screening Bot asks candidates pre-set questions in a chat. If a candidate fails a must-pass question, the bot disqualifies them automatically. Decide who reviews disqualified candidates before you switch the bot on.

Several AI features sit on the higher plans

The Screening Bot comes with the Enterprise plan, People Plus and Zoho One. Ideal Candidates is on the Professional and Enterprise editions only. Resume Harvester allows 50 active automatic job board searches at one time on the Professional plan, and 100 on Enterprise. Check the plan against the features you need.

Some features are still on Zoho’s roadmap

Several features are coming soon. Zoho plans better candidate ranking and an explanation of why a candidate matched. It plans an interview scheduling bot and automatic candidate comparison. It plans AI agents that take on tasks by themselves across different parts of the system. It also plans to fill in candidate details from outside sources using a name and email. Zoho is developing analysis of interview conversations, including authenticity. Ask Zoho which of these you can use today.

The legal work stays with you

AI output may be wrong and must not be the only basis for a decision. Zoho’s terms bar using the AI features to infer protected characteristics for hiring, except where the law expressly allows it. The terms leave any impact assessment, bias audit or candidate notice that the law requires to you. They also make you responsible for telling candidates when they deal with an automated system.

Some data settings are on by default, and AI Assist works in four regions

AI CV parsing is on by default, and you turn it off by contacting Zoho. Selection Signals shares your application status with an outside company, SEEK, to improve its candidate recommendations. That is also on by default. Zia uses third-party AI providers as well as Zoho’s own engine. AI Assist is available only in the United States, Europe, Australia and India.

Zoho Recruit is EEO and OFCCP compliant. EEO means equal employment opportunity. OFCCP is the United States Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Organisations using Zia’s match scores cut hiring bias by up to 40%. Ask Zoho what that 40% figure measures. Zoho’s terms still leave the bias audit to you.

Per-user plans, a trial and a capped export

Zoho prices Zoho Recruit per user. Hiring-manager and employee licences are sold only in packs of 10. The Standard plan limits each recruiter licence to 10 active jobs. The Enterprise plan is built for AI-powered recruitment with custom automation and hiring in bulk. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time inside the app.

You can try every Enterprise feature for 15 days. After that, the account moves to the Free Plan. A 45-day money-back guarantee covers paid editions. Data migration services cost extra. So do the Jumpstart set-up programmes. They cost $1,000 for 20 hours, $2,000 for 30 hours and $3,000 for 40 hours.

You can export a backup of all your Recruit data. An export comes as a CSV file, which is a plain spreadsheet file. Each export of one type of record, such as candidates or jobs, holds at most 20,000 records. Zoho deletes your data from its active database within 6 months after an account ends. It deletes backups within 3 months after that. Zoho keeps the audit log for 60 days and the activity log for 90 days. It tells customers to take regular exports of those logs.

On the legal side, Zoho will sign a data processing addendum that you request through a form. Zoho Recruit can lock a record when someone asks it to stop processing. It also gives the steps to erase a candidate record. The EU data protection law (GDPR) feature is on by default for EU-server accounts. If your account is on a US server, you contact support to switch it on.

You could also find and screen people with agents built on your own systems. We have mapped what that looks like. The HR Agent Map

Eight questions to put to Zoho

  1. What does each user cost on the plan we need, and does the screening chatbot come with it? Good answer: A written price per user for our plan, with the chatbot and its limits listed.
  2. Which of the roadmap features, such as match explanations, are live today? Good answer: A short list of live features with dates, and a clear line between live and planned.
  3. Are local taxes included in your listed prices? Good answer: A written yes or no for our country.
  4. What happens to a candidate who fails a screening question, and who sees that candidate? Good answer: The candidate lands in a list a recruiter reviews, and we set who reviews it.
  5. Can you switch off AI CV parsing and Selection Signals before we load any candidates? Good answer: Yes, before launch, in writing.
  6. Which outside AI providers does Zia use, and where do they process our candidates’ data? Good answer: A named list of providers and countries, and a way to opt out of each.
  7. Will you sign our data processing addendum, and how does a candidate’s request to erase or restrict their data work? Good answer: A signed addendum, plus a step-by-step process our team can follow.
  8. Each export holds at most 20,000 records of one type. How do we get everything out if we leave? Good answer: A full export of every record and file, with a written date for deleting what is left.

Alternatives to Zoho Recruit

If Zoho Recruit comes off your shortlist, look at Manatal, Workable, Breezy HR, Recruitee and Teamtailor. All five are applicant tracking systems with AI features built in.

Manatal is an AI-powered applicant tracking system. It has an AI Interviewer and a Sourcing Hub that reaches over 700 million candidates. Workable launched Workable Agent in March 2026, an assistant that sources and screens candidates and hands over a shortlist. Breezy HR has a set of AI features built in. It sells them as an add-on on every plan, including the free one. Recruitee offers a Screening Assistant and a Matching Assistant. Teamtailor offers Co-pilot, which searches your talent pool and evaluates candidates against your criteria.

Buying nothing new is another route. If you already hold candidate records and your recruiters know the roles, you can review them yourselves. Our market guide covers the other options.
